Does anyone care? It's been going a couple of days and no thread. Doesn't even seem to be on TV. I can remember when it used to be almost as high profile as the Olympics.

So why the cool off? Embarrassment over colonial heritage? So much sport that there's a general weariness? Lack of top athletes competing? Is it just an excuse for people who might never win anything to win something?

TNT sports paid a ridiculous amount to show it I believe.

Hasnt helped that some big names have had to withdraw late on with injuries.

Personally looking forward to the track cycling, Matt Richardson who won sprint Gold for Australia at the last commonwealth now rides for Great Britain dos that could get tasty.

Time this relic of past imperialism was put to bed. The athletes don’t care, no one wants to host it, the standard is poor etc.

Yeah, have heard plenty across all disciplines saying it’s just a nice little tune up before the Worlds.

Not sure it will last much longer, already had countries pulling out of hosting it due to costs, logistics etc

It’s on BBC Alba on the IPlayer and highlights on Channel 5 but yes mainly TNT.

If the athletes didn't care they wouldn't compete in it.

In its own right, its generally a good competition and I usually enjoy watching a bit of it. Swimming cycling, athletics etc, probably only time i give these sports a watch. Obviously not the highest standards due to some big countries not there but quite likes the British nations going against each other. But I don't have TNT, I could watch through the fire stick but don't care enough to search it out, it's a shame 5 aren't showing any live action from what I've seen.

Problem with this and the Olympics us how much talking in the studio they do, rather than showing the action.

Time to pull the plug on this, times have changed a lot of nations now are wanting to distance themselves part of the commonwealth. Athletes seem to just want to priortise towards the olympics. It's sad but it's the world we live i guess. I believe the next one is celebrating the 100th year of the commonwealth games, perhaps fitting if that's announced as the last one.

The Mrs. is fuming as she is a massive netball fan. We have TNT and even though they have it live on their listings they show two mins or so and then cut back to the studio and show something else. If you want to watch it all live you have to have HBO Max - which we dont. So yesterday for instance it was Eng Vs Aus which in the group stage is probably the biggest game - TNT put on about 6 minutes in total whilst also showing the weight lifting.

So even if you do have TNT its still piss poor coverage.

Ive always liked the commonwealth games - a trial run for the Olympics. but this hasn't gone well so far.

It needed to be on BBC.

And, I don't like the disabled para sports mixed in..Punters like elite sport competition (whether they care to admit it or not) . Pretending to enjoy a 100m run like an egg and spoon race pace isn't a good idea. These sports need to be hidden away on BBC iPlayer

Peaty really has been a once in a generation talent for GB but I’ve just never been able to warm to him.

Then again I was the same with Phelps and Ian Thorpe so probably says more about me tbf lol

The swimmers and athletes are pretty elite themselves though?

Suppose there could be the Para version of the event as with the Paralympics.
