We played Norwich hours after O'Neill tendered his resignation at Norwich. Literally he resigned at 11:30am the day of the game.

Lots of these suggestions would have been good for us.

The biggest thank **** we didn't sign him has to be Harrison. We were offering him a stupid deal because we were desperate and locking ourselves into a 5 year deal on 100k a week is £26m in wages alone. It might have been that deal that tipped us over the edge into oblivion and would have made moves for the likes of Skipp reasonable.

So he would be on 25k now, or maybe we would have stayed in the Championship last season.

That's assuming we would have put in the relegation wage cut clauses. We certainly didn't have them in place for our first Premier League relegation so I have my doubts.

But in any case, £25k a week is about 5 times the average league 1 wage.

Edgar Davids, i think it was more Manadric wanted to sign him than Pearson. Davids was like 38 at the time way past his best. Think Davids even turned up to watch us play.

Funniest one was Charles Aranguiz. Who made a big public show of turning us down for Bayer Leverkussen claiming he "wanted to win trophies". Leicester apparently offered way more money.

We of course won the title that year, creating probably the biggest upset in sporting history. He was asked by the German press if he had any regrets & he claimed that there was never an offer from Leicester!

He went on to play eight injury interrupted seasons for Bayer. Never winning a trophy. Leaving in the summer of 2023, after which they finally won their first Bundesliga, going unbeaten.

Poor Charles.

How is that summer 15 years ago? I remember sitting in my college library, refreshing Foxestalk all day instead of doing my Health and Safety coursework.

What a bullet dodged. If he'd signed it's very likely that we wouldn't have won the league. Sliding doors, fate, etc.

5m we were going to pay. All our success probably wouldn’t have happened if we’d wasted that type of money on him…. Same with jimmy keba who we also nearly paid a fortune for

Emile Heskey was all set to return in 2011 with Sven. But made a uturn to remain at Villa. Heskey great first time, but at that time he was in rapid decline.

Danny Mills was suppose to come to us on loan from Leeds in 2001, according to mills he had a fall out with the board and O'Leary, Leeds were looking to get rid as soon as possible. Leicester looking like the best escape, terms agreed season long loan etc. Then Leeds suffered an injury at right back and so Mills had to stay with Leeds. If honest never liked Mills and didn't really need character like that around the dressing room..
