steve_wilson101 Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Can't believe we missed Leon Knight - he's gone to Swansea for £100k - bargain. England U21, 30+ goals in Brighton's promotion season would have fitted in perfectly. Fowler or Ricketts wouldn't be good long term - I'd love to see Euell or Jansen though

He had one decent season at Brighton when they were in League One and since then he's scored about 10 goals in 2 seasons and he takes penalties, i'm sure of it! He is certainly nowhere near as good as Hume and he's the same type of player. If we signed Knight then either him or Hume would be left out. We need a different type of striker, someone to lead the line who knows where the net is.
Head Honcho Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 My Source has just said the Robbie Fowler has pulled up to the training ground today.... Oh no, hes driving away, he saw MDV running towards him...ah well, you win some and you lose some! Nice one  You nearly had me then mate!

In 2003, he was declared bankrupt due to having neglected to inform Daimler Chrysler about a change of address leading to a £15,000 default. nasty.
Head Honcho Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 "Sylla is away with Guinea in their build-up to the African Nations Cup" Told ya Sylla was full of shit. Going on about he may not compete in the ANC for the sake of Leicester City. He was always going, so why say he may not in the first place? What a tool!
1884 Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Someone put drugs in his suitcase so they can arrest him..... ! That's one way of getting rid of him

Dr The Singh Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Ok we'll have a wip round, and you can go and plant the drugs ..... I pledge 50p ! I wouldn't waste your tiem, Levien will find someone just as sh*it to replace him!!!
Raspeir Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 51 people sat here watching this thread now.. every single one of us wondering if one of the others might come in with some info about which player it is we're talking to! ahh well.. it's better than writing an essay on Don DeLillo
Collymore Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 What about that rangers striker that was mentioned ages ago? forgot his name now
Craig Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 What about that rangers striker that was mentioned ages ago? forgot his name now Steven Thompson.
Ric Flair Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Steven Thompson. Alot of people reckon he's a donkey but having rarely ever seen him other than a few goals he scored in the Champions League I couldn't comment. I feel if it is someone like that alot of fans will be left feeling disappointed. I'm not sure why everyone has geared us up for signing a big name, let's hope it's a double barrelled surname otherwise there will be hell to pay from the fans.

Dr The Singh Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 To be honest i'm not expecting too much, I don't think it will be any of the names mentioned, majority clubs are looking to improve there clubs and strikers are the most sought after, city are not one of the most attractive clubs to want to come to, if your a striker. I think city are talking to alot of players\strikers and as time goes on the chances of signing a decent striker are less and less, unlike the beginning of the season city had money and managed to pull Hume at the last moment and signed Hammond as the backup, this occassion we don't have much funds so that will rule alot of strikers out. But like the rest of you alittle bit of me is hoping Levien can pull a miracle and sign a cracking striker!!!!

A striker will look for a club to get regular football, therefore not much competion, a club with underperforming strikers. Also, i think the BBC1 coverage on Sunday is a good incentive as well.
London_Fox Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Another factor is any international strikers (or those on the verge) especially from the smaller nations either wanting regular football in the World Cup year or looking to impress in a world cup year...that could work either way for us.
Ric Flair Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 I'd be surprised if it wasn't Fuller. Levein tried to sign him at the same time as Redknapp in the summer and he chose Southampton to hook up with Redknapp again and also he wouldn't of had to move house. Burley has told him to jog on, so considering we need a new striker to partner Hume he fits the bill and i'm shocked we haven't been linked with him yet. Wouldn't be overly excited if we did sign Fuller, but I could believe it if we did.

I have a bad feeling it will be Fuller. He was alright before he got injured but now he hasnt played much and i dont think it will improve our problem IMO. But if its a free transfer and his wages are cheap then its an option in the squad. On the other side though, its a gamble and high risk.

Levein would not be stupid enough to sign Fuller now surely, he was intrested in the summer granted, but now he's played at this level for 3 months and done absoutley nothing, I would like to think he's off the wish list.

I'm not sure! The thing is, we aren't really in the position to pick up the cream of the crop. Whoever we sign is going to be a gamble of some sort, what Levein needs to make sure is that the gamble is worthwhile. The likes of Fuller, Jansen, Fowler, Jeffers, Bridges, etc are all way out of form but a few years ago they were leading marksmen at the level they were playing at. Many clubs have had this in mind and signed players like this before, some have worked out, many have failed. Whatever and whoever we sign, they must do the business otherwise we are ****ed. Hit the ground running whoever you are.
Louise Posted 6 January 2006 Posted 6 January 2006 Haven't seen it on this thread (but if it has been said sorry for repeating).... Radio Leicester had Levein on at 1pm today saying that he'd made a bid for a striker and he expected to hear back from the club within 48 hours... The interview will probably be on the OS at some point today.
