Cat Burger Posted 21 January 2006 Author Posted 21 January 2006 go shit on your hairy dogs cock No, my dog is one of those ones without the hair, you see them about... What do I do now?
Libertine Posted 21 January 2006 Posted 21 January 2006 Text talk does annoy the hell out of me. There's not a limit of characters on a forum so there's no need.

Cat Burger Posted 21 January 2006 Author Posted 21 January 2006 Text talk does annoy the hell out of me. There's not a limit of characters on a forum so there's no need. Laziness! And don't get me started on ft people
Lemon Harpic Posted 21 January 2006 Posted 21 January 2006 I'm probably going to regret wading into this... Presentation of an argument does influence the way in which it is viewed by other people. I remember he said that buy the end of 2005 Leicester would be a top ten side. It's a case off intelligent and effort.. applying oneself. Even the best of us make mistakes from time to time, y'know? Cut the kids some slack!
Babylon Posted 21 January 2006 Posted 21 January 2006 If I had made this post, people would jump on the bandwagon and call me a moaner. But I agree with you completely. Shut it moaner.
Milky Posted 21 January 2006 Posted 21 January 2006 ' date='Jan 21 2006, 11:12 PM' post='254689']Ey, no ragging on my old avatar. sorry, it was too gooder opportunity
ithuriel Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 i admit on here and some other sites i type in a very lazy style , rarely using capitals etc., if what im typing is still legible though im not that bothered. if poeple dont like how i put forward my posts then do not read them proper real life letters in ink are written properly so maybe i see the net has a media for relaxed , lazy english.
Anish Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 sorry, it was too gooder opportunity too good an opportunity (in line with this thread)
Milky Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 too good an opportunity (in line with this thread) bingo! looks like i've caught one, reel him in. :clap2: easy! :clap2: easy! :clap2:
shen Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 I agree with you. It's not hard to be coherent. Presentation of an argument does influence the way in which it is viewed by other people. Indeed, I tend to not take people who consistently spell horribly too seriously...might be harsh but what they're saying (or what they're trying to say ) is usually not worth reading IMO...
Rincewind Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 Can I add to the debate? I go back to the 'olden days' when I was taught how to read and write at junior school. Today even the shcools seem relaxed about this and do not correct pupils when they make mistakes as often. We have mobile phones and chat forums where txt speak is useful for quick conversations. Ever since I have had a PC I have always tried to type correctly. Not being a bully but I was a member of a writers group for a while and if I were to say send a short story to a publishers and it was not properly laid out and free of spelling and grammatical errors it would go straight in the trash can and I would get a 'Sorry we do not feel your MS is suitable for our publication. Best wishes for elsewhere.' letter through the post. It surprises me how many people mix up words such as 'hear' and here' and 'there' and 'their' These are not just young people but also people in their twenties or thirties. Is it a significance that these same people could have been at school during a certain Mrs Thatcher reign in office? We are in a technical age where everything has to be done yesterday. How long will it be before they rewrite the works of Shakespeare in text speak? A spell checker has been used on this post so you can't nag at me. I had to corect three words.
Anish Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 ...but still managed to spell Shakespeare incorrectly!
shen Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 A spell checker has been used on this post so you can't nag at me. I had to correct three words. try again ...but still manager to spell Shakespeare incorrectly! "Shouldn't throw stones when..."
Anish Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 All this talk about Levein has got to my head, plus the 'r' and 'd' buttons are quite close
shen Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 All this talk about Levein has got to my head, plus the 'r' and 'd' buttons are quite close I know, I just couldn't resist the urge to be overly pedantic
The People's Hero Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 Cat Burger... correct me if I'm wrong mate, but this thread is aimed at people who spell almost every word incorrectly, don't use punctuation or type in txtspk etc... right? It's now descended in to pedanticism (is that a word) And I don't like it!
Lemon Harpic Posted 22 January 2006 Posted 22 January 2006 Is it a significance that these same people could have been at school during a certain Mrs Thatcher rein in office? Mrs Thatcher's reign. Sorry.

In the case of text speak, I feel it represents the views of the lazy and uneductated...I would skip it. I am not an elitist, I swear
