Manc_Fox Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 reading are a very good unit, but when we played them at the madjeski or wotever it is, we didnt to too bad, having said that we never had any real good efforts apart from deep freeze skinnin about 5 of their players and then shooting from about 30 yards forcing a v.good save. anyway more to the point against reading, they only had 2 shots on target in the whole match, we held out alright in the first half apart from a nervous opening 10 mins, and we were well on top until they scored there first which was down to an unfortunate slip from gerrbrand. if it weren't for that, then it was lookin as if we may of took the lead. the point is that reading aren't that amazing, there exteremly confident and other teams are fearful of them thats it, i thhink we could easily give them a run for their money dwn at the walkers as when you look at their team they dont have amazing individual players. IMO they would need major re-strengthening as any team would to withstand a premiership place aas the style of play varies greatly from the leagues.

They are very much like Sunderland in that respect. They have bought players that not many of us have heard of who turn out to be coups- but if they get promoted, unless they seriously strengthen, they will come straight back down again for sure. Those players are not good enough for the Premiership.
Thracian Posted 12 February 2006 Posted 12 February 2006 If Kelly completes the season he should be appointed as a magician not a manager
Barwell Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 If we win every game does that mean we'll still be in the playoffs??
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 Im starting to think we could go unbeaten for the rest of the season . Only game that now really worries me is Reading home.
Chrysalis Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 by the time we play reading I expect their promotion will be sealed and they might start tinkering with the team resting players etc. so I wouldnt worry about that game.
securedfox Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 If Kelly completes the season he should be appointed as a magician not a manager I'm after a magician for a birthday party. Would he come cheap? If we have a great run from hear would other clubs be taking a look at Kelly? I say GIVE HIM THE JOB NOW. MAKE HIM TAKE IT.
Dr The Singh Posted 13 February 2006 Posted 13 February 2006 I'm after a magician for a birthday party. Would he come cheap? If we have a great run from hear would other clubs be taking a look at Kelly? I say GIVE HIM THE JOB NOW. MAKE HIM TAKE IT. I'm not taking anything from kelly, he has done agreat job, but remember we did lose against southampton, plus the 3 wins were against teams that are struggling. I would like to give the job for the rest of the season. If we win against derby and brighton lose i think we will be safe. I can see us losing a few more games until the end of the season. Kelly's management abilities will be tested against those teams that are inform and winning!!

Kelly's management abilities will be tested against those teams that are inform and winning!! Brighton, ok, are well under par for this division, but QPR and Wolves are both mid table teams, and with the way this league goes, they could be play-off contenders one season,l relegation the next, same goes with Reading or Preston etc. etc. I think your forgetting that, even under Levein, we outplayed most of the teams we played this season, fact is, if we could have scored, ie - had Connolly not left for wigan, we might be sitting in a play-off spot right now... Ok, Rab Douglas is terrible and a disgrace as far as city keepers go. But other than that, were not a bad team (first 11 anyway). A lack of confidence and sometimes a severe lack of creativity, (generally when Williams isnt playing as far as the creativity is concerned) and poor finishing is why we are where we are. All teams concede, but have we been given a complete rolocking yet this season? Thus leading me to believe, now we have a goalscorer in fryatt, who Hume might create a steady relationship with and gain confidence in front of goal, our problems will be solved as far as steadying the ship goes... We may leak goals, but lets face it, in most matches we lost or drew this season we had been missing a goalscorer to score the simple goals, to poach goals even, and in most games we had a dozen very good chances before our opponents have ran the other end and knocked one past a ver old, tiring, lacklustre, incompetant goalkeeper...(maybe a lil harsh)
Thin_King Posted 15 February 2006 Author Posted 15 February 2006 Another match gone..... Thinking about going to the bookies now, place that bet!!
Katy Posted 15 February 2006 Posted 15 February 2006 Another match gone..... Thinking about going to the bookies now, place that bet!! I 'bet' the next game after you put the bet on we lose
Swedging Posted 15 February 2006 Posted 15 February 2006 Next six games, six points for us, I reckon. Could be we draw them all, rather than just beat Plymouth and nick another win elsewhere....
Leicester City Posted 16 February 2006 Posted 16 February 2006 I am willing to bet anyone here that Kelly will not lose another game in charge of Leicester this season. I am confident in saying this because i beleive we have a good enough squad at this club to overturn any championship division side, and Kelly has seemed to have asked players where they actually play, a point Levein seemed to have overlooked. For examle, -Kisnorbo's preferred position is center back (see interview on official site) -Mayburry actually started the first 5 years or so of his career playing midfield (though he doesnt seem to be too good at it - had a bad season really) The fact Hughes is out of position at times is due to the fact he is willing to play anywhere and he is too good a player to leave out, he has balance in his game going forward and coming back. Mayburry probably shouldnt be playing midfield but Kelly hasnt really had much choice when the likes of smith cant really scrap it out at the back. So, Kelly, so far, has made the changes a lot of us on the terraces were crying out for, especially with Hammond (who works his sox of bless him, but hes not a footballer) being dropped and De Vries sent far away from the walkers. We may not win every game, but i think the confidence installed in our players will be enough to carry us through to the end of the season. And even if this does happen, I think Kelly should probably be demoted to assistant manager to whoever we bring in next to learn the trade further. Im not pessimistic at all am i? 50 - 1, no chance.
Sly Posted 16 February 2006 Posted 16 February 2006 If we win every game we might just about scrape a playoff spot Its never going to happen though.
Thin_King Posted 19 February 2006 Author Posted 19 February 2006 If we win every game we might just about scrape a playoff spot Its never going to happen though. We wont win every game - but those of you who laughed at the thread.... NOT LOOKING SO UNLIKELY NOW IS IT!!! giving one of the nest teams in the league a run for there money, making them look average when were down to 10 men... I'd say we have a very good chance of not losing again! And i never said we'd win every game. at 50-1 its worth a bet. In fact ima do it now. PP*
Matt Posted 25 February 2006 Posted 25 February 2006 I'll put £50 on City losing another game this season, mate. Did you?
Chrysalis Posted 25 February 2006 Posted 25 February 2006 Louse you was fast to bump do you still feel we was wrong to get rid of craig and we would be better of if he was here?
Thin_King Posted 25 February 2006 Author Posted 25 February 2006 Louse you was fast to bump do you still feel we was wrong to get rid of craig and we would be better of if he was here? Crikey, someone thought that??? Well guys, it was fun whilst it lasted, and a bit of dreaming never hurt anyone. I mean if we never dreamt why would we bother to watch football, if we were all realists, we wouldnt bother with season tickets, after all, we know we'll never gonna win the league - BUT WE CAN DREAM Dream big - it doesnt cost anymore!!! Anyway - never got round to putting that bet on, which my wallet is not pretty releived about, however I'd of given my life savings for us to go to the last game unbeaten and then lost!!! Could thje result be a helping hand though, to maybe ground a few players and say "Yeah - u can still lose!!!" or maybe it just showed how much we miss McCarthy's leadership or pressence? Certainly I for one feel putting Tiatto back in the team may have been a mistake, he doesnt do enough, and for me, were still leaving our most creative playmaker on the bench week in week out in Williams, probably one of the pnly players we possess that has a game suited to the premiership (passing game) fair enough he looks lost in a long ball game, but time and time again, hes one of the only player we have from midfield thats comfortable when forward thinking, hes not afraid to thread balls through along the ground for the front two to run on too, he doesnt just feed the wings. Anyway, bring on the next match, hopefully our Ipswich hangover will have passed and we'll be back to the form we have been showing in recent weeks
