The People's Hero Posted 23 April 2006 Posted 23 April 2006 I like the sound of Carlos Edwards, but he may be a little expensive. Or Colin Kazeem-Richards, apparently he can play on the wing. Lazy as fu ck and has attitude problems. Even the Brighton fans hate him and their standards are seriously low. If you want another Elvis Hammond.... then good idea.
DaveyJ Posted 23 April 2006 Posted 23 April 2006 It's been debated before about Maybury, but I think Kelly would be more interested in having a right side that functions well (Just like Stearman and Maybury have) than Stearman and a winger, which will have to strike up a new understanding. I get the feeling that the majority of the starting line up will be retained for next season to maintain some consistency. Kelly said he won't be making too many changes over the summer, partly down to money restrictions with the ceasing of parachute payments. I don't really have too much of a problem with playing Maybury and Stearman tbh.
Middo Posted 23 April 2006 Posted 23 April 2006 That was the problem with levein...he lacked consistancey..We went out and Beat Spurs 3-2 then made 5 changes for the next game which we lost if i remember rightly so if we do Want to carry on with this starting line up then lets sign Welsh on

Middo Posted 23 April 2006 Posted 23 April 2006 if consistency is the key which door does it unlock for the club

Benji Posted 23 April 2006 Posted 23 April 2006 if consistency is the key which door does it unlock for the club dunno but we best show you the way to it with jokes like that
Ric Flair Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 Did like the look of him at first but i'm unsure on him after two mediocre games against Preston and the first half against Plymouth he was awful. Abit better in the second half and his cross was a beaut but unless he's on a free and his wages are relatively cheap then i'd rather take a chance on someone else but I haven't any other suggestions unfortunately.

Papers say Kelly has no money to spend. He can only raise cash through sales. It looks like a reserve team winger next season then!
Master Fox Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 It depends how much he would cost. I don't think he's worth anything more than £250,000.
Thracian Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 I voted yes. If it were possible, which I doubt, financially, he is a more effective traditional winger (in terms of making/scoring goals) than Sylla or Hamill and seems willing to do his bit in midfield (reasonably well) even if it does reduce his cutting edge up front. I don't pretend he's the greatest ever, but he is useful and may come at the right price so to speak. I don't see any likely alternatives in the reserves just now although, like Steven, I do see some merit in 4-3-3 or even 3-4-3 at home sometimes with O'Grady joining Hume and Fryatt and benefitting from the use of wing backs on the outside of the fours.

Could well benifit us as our strikers love to use the channells

The one good thing about Welsh is that in each game he has played for us he's had a good scoring opportunity, which Sylla and Hamill never did. Against Hull he skyed one over the bar when all he had to do was roll it in to the net. Against Palace he scored, i'm sure he had an opening at Preston and the same against Plymouth when he opted to try and pass to Hume instead of shooting when Fryatt sent him clear.
potter3 Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 Not read the thread, (voted yes) but, how much do you think we could get one, or even two of Brightons wingers, Frutos and Carole. Or that Luton winger, forgot his name.

holly Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 not liking the post about papers say kelly has no money to spend accept money from sales, through these sales we may lose decent players, eg; stearman, Mcarthy, i would rather have less money than lose them! and yes i think we should sign welsh permenantly, he will prob go back to sunderland but he wont get a game unless arca gets injured etc!! oh what an interesting summer this is gunna be

dandannieldanok Posted 25 April 2006 Posted 25 April 2006 You might already know but Kelly says he will talk to "our people" about the money before contacting Sunderland so at least he seems interested!
