The People's Hero Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Haha... you guys are just jealous because you weren't even close to being in the final ! Correct.
Manwell Pablo Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Apparently, Zidane found out the day of the game that his mum was very ill When Zidane turned round he said 'i hope your family dies an ugly death' and then told him to 'fk himself'. That's all BBC material of course, but if it is true then good on Zidane, i would like to find one person on here who would honestly say in that situation they wouldn't have reacxted, personally i would have used fists but hey ho So we've gone from calling Zidane a twat, n saying that he shouldn't retaliate no matter what the reason... To now saying he should gave him a good hideing make ur minds up. What you say of the BBC is only half the story as well Benji, I put it to you that Materazzi was provoked into saying that ( because Zidane was faceing the other way the Italian lip reader couldnt see what he was saying ) you also missed off the first part of the conversation. The FULL offical Matterazi Dialoug according to the BBC. ( Materzzi starts by pinching Zidanes nipple....... big girl ) "No" "Calm Down" "Liar" " I hope you and your family die a ugly death" "Go fock yourself" Also I somwhat doubt Materazzi was aware of Zidanes mothers condition at the time.
C-man Posted 10 July 2006 Posted 10 July 2006 Semen, why have you got the same avatar as me? I didnt realise you had it, and i reckon i got it before you I was sent the link for it on MSN at about 11 this morning
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 11 July 2006 Author Posted 11 July 2006 That's all BBC material of course, but if it is true then good on Zidane, i would like to find one person on here who would honestly say in that situation they wouldn't have reacxted, personally i would have used fists but hey ho That's what I reckon. It's like, why the hell would you headbutt someone? If Materazzi said anything along those lines, I reckon well done Zidane It was an awesome headbutt too! Seriously, there are some things said in life you should just let slide, and others where the age-old 'sticks at dawn' is necessary
macbeth Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 i reckon matterazzi started singing the old tommy steele song " the little white bull" and zidane was joining in on the actions
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 You have to just take these things. If he wasn't in a fit mental state then he shouldn't have played in the final. This stuff has been going on in cricket for decades and I bet it happens in football all the time, you just don't hear about it until something like this happens which is, let's face it, one of the highest-profile incidents ever witnessed on a football pitch. As for people saying they'd do the same, for god's sake it's only words. He's never met Zidane's mother. I can't believe I even typed that. The verbals are obviously the reason but they can never be mistaken for an excuse.
Benji Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 Hello, pleased to meet you Benji. You wanted to meet someone on the list that can honestly say they would not react in the same way? I, for one, would not have reacted in such a pathetic manner to a simple verbal insult - and I find it ridiculous that anyone could ever consider doing so. If you find it hard to go through life without resorting to violence every and any time someone says something you don't agree with then you really are not going to get very far are you? If Zidane gave a fukc about his poorly mother then he would have lifted the trophy on her behalf, don't you think that would have been better? Tell me you hope my family dies a horrible death, tell me I'm a terrorist and tell me to go fukc myself - I will do nothing more than laugh at you. Have you been in that situation then? Millions of people watching you in one of the most intense situations, with background like that and some guy making that sort of comment? It's very easy for you to say you'd ignore it and at the time I said he should have just won the cup and 'beat' Materazzi that way. But that single instant, for that split moment in time, instinct takes over and you can see by the way he took a long stare at him after the headbutt that it was just a total reaction. Managers/coaches/team staff, no one can teach you what to do in that situation, well they can try but it will not be the response given. Why are you and me alive today? Uncontrollable instincts take over and our main one is to survive and protect. You may well laugh at that, but that is what it all boils down to, there is just a part of us that will act at will and can not be manipulated. Manwell, does it matter if he is aware of her situation? You just don't say it, simple. That sort of thing is not simply banter within a game.

My point was Benji, that neither you nor that Italain lip reading coont know what Zidane said to Materazzi, as the conversation went Zidane:? Materazzi:No Zidane:? Materazzi:Calm Down Zidane:? Materazzi:Liar. If what the BBC say is true theres alot more to this, Zidane might of Marco his mother sucks donkey dick or something If Materazzi did tell him to calm down I rest the blame at Zii Zou's door.
Ric Flair Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 Best thing i've seen on tv for years. That's ultimate violence, not some poxy little shove like we see in football. I'm not condoning it, but if a player is going to attack another player then they might aswell propelry assault them and properly knock them down. Had that been a little 'tap' from Zidane, Matterazi still would have fallen to the floor in a heap but atleast this time Zidane gave the victim no choice as he literally knocked him off his feet. Superb.

You may well laugh at that, but that is what it all boils down to, there is just a part of us that will act at will and can not be manipulated. It's easy for me to say because I have never headbutted anyone and will never do so. When someone does something to annoy me I rise above it, I do not resort to the base action of violence in order to resolve a disagreement. People who are of your opinion are the ones who intimidate others in road rage incidents, they are the people being arrested on Friday nights because 'someone looked at me funny'! I am not alive based on inate primal conditioning, I am not Cro-Magnon man. I have risen above being controlled by instincts to hunt with flint and impregnate anythng that moves [killing other suitors in the process]. There is not a part of us that acts at will ~ that used to be the crass defence presented at rape trials and is a long discredited position. Laugh at it? No, but I will heap scorn on it by the bucket-load. His response was that of a stupid, ignorant and self-centred person with no respect for others. It also displayed a poor level of self-respect that he was able to be sent into a rage just by a few words. Anyone that physically assaults someone else based on no more provocation than a few words deserves to be labelled exactly what they are - pathetic.
Finnegan Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 Grow up, lads. Take a look at what Zidane risks by nutting the dude. It's the most important game of his life, his final bow, his chance to end his career my lifting the world cup. That's amazing, that's unbeatable, unrivaled on the footballing stage. You're leading your country, your friends, compatriots against a rival nation infront of countless millions of people. He can call you whatever the fock he wants - but just DON'T bloody twat him. Time and a place for everything - and it's called in the car park afterwards.
Cat Burger Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 I didnt realise you had it, and i reckon i got it before you I was sent the link for it on MSN at about 11 this morning No.
Benji Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 ^Is that John Mcenroe? LMFAO Dis, all of my last few posts have been placed on the BBC report, if's and but's, as manwell has said Zidane may have said something just as bad, but i've commented purely on what the BBC reported. You can only speculate how you would react, unless your just breaking through the Chelsea youth side i doubt you'll ever find out. I've never been arrested, in trouble with the law, been in a fight etc but i still hold the thought that i know i probably wouldn't have been able to just walk away. Doesn't mean i'm on my way in town tonight to take on a couple of bouncers. Do you fully believe that everything we do is not affected one bit by genetics?
Daggers Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 Do you fully believe that everything we do is not affected one bit by genetics? Nope. But I do believe that there is no excuse for assault. Ever. I believe that people have the power to control their actions unless under the influence of either a chemical inbalance or cranial trauma, neither of which apply to our erstwhile Zouzou. I wonder if he could go to the same anger management course as Tommy Saxondale? That would be an episode worth watching
Tomassi Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 What Benji says makes sense. In five aside tonight we were playing the so called 'best team at goals' and i was getting pissed off with them having so much of the ball so i kept laying into them, ball or no ball lol we lost 5-8
stez Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 What Benji says makes sense. In five aside tonight we were playing the so called 'best team at goals' and i was getting pissed off with them having so much of the ball so i kept laying into them, ball or no ball lol we lost 5-8 goals...---...world cup final its almost identical!! i know what you mean though, i cheat my arse off when i play, sneakily of course
Tomassi Posted 11 July 2006 Posted 11 July 2006 goals...---...world cup final its almost identical!! i know what you mean though, i cheat my arse off when i play, sneakily of course haha referee didn't give any free kicks away, in fact whenever they gave it back i won free kicks haha. one free kick we had one of their lads was blocking the ball, so i backed into him and eventually he ended up on the floor if you p!ss me off i will p!ss you off
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 11 July 2006 Author Posted 11 July 2006 But I do believe that there is no excuse for assault. Ever. Aw c'mon champ, where's your Saxon spirit? Never mind 'looking at people funny,' I reckon anyone who belts someone for that reason is a fruitloop, but there are some people who need to be taught a lesson. Who knows, Materazzi mightn't refer to anyone's mother in the same context again
