Head Honcho Posted 16 August 2006 Posted 16 August 2006 You're probably the only one Oh come on he ain't that bad. To be fair he play's where the manager put's him and does a pretty decent job nothing outstanding I'll admit but who we gonna get in to replace him for that amount! Sunderland want him for heavens sake! That alone should mean he's worth more than 500K.

Head Honcho Posted 16 August 2006 Posted 16 August 2006 After the performances he's put in though, who are you gona get to buy him for more than 500k?? Put it this way if he was a Norwich or WBA player they'd be offering that amount but they know we're skint. Sunderland obviously think he's worth it but are taking the piss out of us by offering less.
lcfc_jme Posted 16 August 2006 Posted 16 August 2006 Sunderland obviously think he's worth it but are taking the piss out of us by offering less. You're right, but they are able to take the piss cos we're skint like you said, and that means that we can't afford to mess them about when it comes to asking prices for him, so if they only offer 250k, then we may just have to accept it
Head Honcho Posted 16 August 2006 Posted 16 August 2006 You're right, but they are able to take the piss cos we're skint like you said, and that means that we can't afford to mess them about when it comes to asking prices for him, so if they only offer 250k, then we may just have to accept it .................but it's all relative! We are giving away a player for more then he's worth(imo), then we have to go out and replace him with a player who's not worth that much! So unless we find a hidden talent we will probably be replacing him with a worse player unless we look to the ressie's If you get what I mean
lcfc_jme Posted 16 August 2006 Posted 16 August 2006 I get what you mean but imo, Maybury hasn't been performing like a first team player anyway, so a reserve man may well do a better job. Also, offloading him could free up some funds from his wages, and also from his transfer fee, so if we did manage to unearth a new talent, we could at least make an offer

I've been saying we'd do well to sell him for 250k, but then people have been dismissing it and saying he's worth at least 500k, which we definitely will NOT get for him

lookwhaticando Posted 16 August 2006 Posted 16 August 2006 still no definitive news on this?!?!?! Sadly not. I read something earlier stating Sunderland had hoped to complete before Friday in time for their game on Saturday, so hopefully there'll be some movement tomorrow.

lookwhaticando Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 The tension is killing me How about a massage?
davieG Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 Another semi unreliable source GTFox ( works at the press office on London) Just been told by a PA reporter who covers the north east, that Sunderland are rething the Maybury deal because Leicester will not let him go for less than £500K which is double Sunderlands offer. Also City are in negotiations with Hull for Elliott with a fee of £400K plus O'Grady, but it is all dependent on cash being generated from the Maybury or other transfers. There is also some substance in Douglas moving with possibly Hoult coming in as the No 1 keeper. Maybe that's why COG's got the hump
Ric Flair Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 We're ****in stuck with him Looks like he isn't going.
Thracian Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 Why doesn't it surprise me that Leicester took an age to get back. I enquired once about an Academy team and it took over 12 hours. They never forgave me for saying so but it seems nothing has changed.
dandannieldanok Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 We're ****in stuck with him Looks like he isn't going. Quinn will have to sack himself for even thinking that Maybury will improve their left-hand side! Quinn had identified Maybury as someone who could strengthen Sunderland's left side.
breadandcheese Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 We're ****in stuck with him Looks like he isn't going. I think that's just negotiating patter. They know we need money, so they're "cooling" their interest to try and reduce the fee. We'll see what happens. We don't know any facts or amounts (despite people banding figures like £250,000 and £500,000 out the air). All we know is our staff have a value that Sunderland need to meet.
Master Fox Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 Quinn will have to sack himself for even thinking that Maybury will improve their left-hand side! Quinn had identified Maybury as someone who could strengthen Sunderland's left side. Come Leicester sort it out, we need to sell Maybury while we've got the chance

Manwell Pablo Posted 17 August 2006 Posted 17 August 2006 I think your query probably isn't quite as important to them as £250,000 but I get your point. Well this thread started a week ago after the initial inquiry and we've only just herd something....... a lot longer than 12 hours that is.
