davieG Posted 3 November 2006 Author Posted 3 November 2006 I can't cope with this anymore, I feel sick I want to get off.Someone give us something concrete to cling onto...please Well don't rely on the stadium
The People's Hero Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 This is the way of the big bad world people! The way some of you are carping on about MM is like you never promised a girl you wouldn't cum in her mouth. At least not without my fingers crossed behind my back
Katy Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 Why do people have a problem with me using the word concrete? No I am not pregnant but my toast made me gag this morning
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 I'd be quite intrested to see how much interest, if any, Mandaric would charge us. I dunno how a situation like that would work? Just under 5 million for the existing share holders is a bit shy as well TBH .
Babylon Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 Exactly, what were people expecting? People are expecting answers to questions like... What happens if we don't get promoted in the next 5 years? At what interest rate would any money be paid back? When the 20m is gone what then?. What's the point in swapping a 15m debt for a 35m debt? I'm guessing he won't pay off the stadium with the money so we would have 20m for players and wages. Sounds great but that has to last until we got promoted (if ever). I'm sure you probably moaned about the last board when they were around, letting Taylor spend loads of money and building up debts on the stadium etc. But that is now what you are suggesting we do. I don't know what i'd do, I really don't.... between a rock and a hard place is what the club are currently.
The People's Hero Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 It's simply a case of us not being able to have it both ways. We take a risk which might go wrong or we just continue to deteriorate (financially at least). Some people want us to be competitive, rich, attracting the best players, completely debt free and do so with lots of benevolent city fans at the helm. Reality check. It won't happen.

Then again if your going to owe money to any one it may as well be the person who owns 100% of the club. It's not like he can serve a winding up order on himself is it? And we do need to do something otherwise we will be pottering around in the Championship for the next five or six year min.
Ric Flair Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 You have to take the rough with the smooth. Loving the reactionary mood swings by some people on here with every passing day and every newspaper article. I'm back. Had a little paddy about half an hour ago. Read a few more rumours and opinions and i'm back on the Mandaric bus. I'm loving it.

I know... like I said I don't know what i'd do. He could die of a heart attack in two months time, what then? The club will be seeking clarification on all those sorts of points. Any decision the club comes to will not be about chances of going up etc, it will be about avoiding going out of business.

But this was always going to be the deal - he was never going to give us £25million for no reason. It's ridiculous that so many people are surprised. Of course there will be intense pressure to get promotion, that's what Mandaric is after.
davieG Posted 3 November 2006 Author Posted 3 November 2006 I wasn't expecting anything better, but it's still a wank offer even if it is his first. For me there has to be at the very least an offer with no strings attached that equals or betters what the original shareholders put in, purely to show faith and commitment - hopefully some of them will reinvest that cash in the club somehow. Any loan should be interest free and be used to pay off the stadium with the surplus going on players, MM should then get his just rewards when and if we are promoted and when we have paid the loan back - after all promotion is said to bring in circa £60mill. If at a later date he wants to resell then we are in a hopefully better position with the stadium freed up, of course if unsuccessful during that period we would still owe him the money spent on the stadium which we would either need to remortgage or get the new owner to refinance (long shot).
The People's Hero Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 He's an investor, a football loving businessman. He is NOT a benefactor.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 He's an investor, a football loving businessman. He is NOT a benefactor. Indeed, I think it's the way Swedging has worded his post. If he had say, "Milan Manadaric will give us 20 million pounds, which he will want back when we get promoted" every one would be shouting horah. Loan is a very scary word espically to supporters of this club.
Ric Flair Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 It's simply a case of us not being able to have it both ways. Some people want us to be competitive, rich, attracting the best players, completely debt free and do so with lots of benevolent city fans at the helm. Reality check. It won't happen. The fact is, if we get in to the premeirship and manage to stay there for a good while we'd pay our debt off anyway. So how do we go about getting in to the premiership? In our current state it looks almost impossible, we have a good young side but these young players haven't actually made us any better results wise. Or if they have, the improvement is marginal. If Milan comes in or another investor with a similar deal to his and free's up some money for us to get in to the premiership or at least have a better chance of trying to get there, isn't this the better option. The debt is about the same, but it can realistically only be paid off when we get in to the premiership. So let's try and get there, if you don't try you very rarely succeed. This is a decent deal, as long as our share holders don't get well and truelly shafted. EDITED to say, I don't know why i've quoted TPH here as he's driving the same bus that i'm cleaning the windows on.

gatesheadfox Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 I don't want to patronise you, but that's what an investor is. If you will settle for a benefactor and nothing less, I suggest we just pack it all in now. i probably phrased it wrong, i meant that the very second we come good he gets it in 1 chunk....22 mil from promotion goes straight back into his pocket and then anything more is a bonus. not a gradual repayment to himself but a loan on 20m with an automatic repayment once things get good again
The Don Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 I'd be quite intrested to see how much interest, if any, Mandaric would charge us. I dunno how a situation like that would work? Just under 5 million for the existing share holders is a bit shy as well TBH . Its probably quite a good deal, I imagine that the books aren't in the black, probably in the red. You don't get anything in this game for two in the bed. SO he's prob takin on the clubs working debt as well as the stadium.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 By the way I just want to clarify, seeing as I seem to be in the process of being shifted firmly to the head of the pro-Mandaric camp, I'm still aware of the shareholders' prerogative to dismiss out of hand any unacceptable bid.

Giving him £22 million back in one go although is sensible also means it's a huge chunk of cash we'd be using up when we could use some of that to secure then staying in the premiership and another wedge of cash coming in. £10 mill for 2 consecutive seasons. Job on.
disheartened fan Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 If we were in the position portsmouth are in at the moment, as a club we would be twice as valuable as them, thats why MM wants to invest his money, to build the 'business' and sell it off at a profit, he's a succesful businessman afterall, he gets my vote (if i had one) and i'd be very happy if we were in the position portsmouth are in at the moment.
Ric Flair Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 I'm loving my emotions constantly causing me to react wildly. I honestly can't guarantee what i'd do with Mandaric should I meet him within the near future. It could be a hug and pinch, a mere handshake or a fore-arm smash if I read and believe anymore nasty rumours.
