London_Fox Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 I can't see why MM would want a quick buck from us, much more likely that he wants to be loved and adored by another set of fans looking for a messiah figure...we're happy to play that role if he gives us the success and stability we want...it's a win win situation. He's got no reason to asset-strip us because there isn't that much money to be made, he's never done it before and he's loaded enough for it not to be worth his trouble.
ithuriel Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 Becuase he wants to make some money! He might sell the training ground and use that to buy players. The current board could do that, so how are we better off?? We would be worse off. 3 years down the line, relegated and with nothing to show for it. Milan walks away becuase of Ill health and we have no stadium, no training ground and all our now Prem players leave becuase they want the money elsewhere. he could also not do any such thing and anybody coming into the club could do all those things. he has a good track record unlike the unknowns , in english football. under the present LCFC board we could be relegated as we came close to being last season and be in a bad position. the present board say they need investment but the kind of investment they want means risk and from whats on the table thus far mandy looks the best bet and if reports from yesterday are true liniker and holmes? are backing his bid.
Babylon Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 But ask yourself the question, why would Milan want to buy this club at 68 years of age if he didn't think he could make us successful and make a profit? You'd have to be crazy to throw a minimum of £25 million at something that your not going to give your all at. It might not even be his money he is putting in, it could all be loans that would be set off by the club once he takes control for all we know.
Dr The Singh Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 A few weeks back, when resukts were not going away, we (in general) were willing and begging investment, of any kind. Now an oppportunity has arised, and some are not willing to 'give and take' interms of MM buying us out. Obviously the man is putting £25M in, and obviously he wants something in return. The big picture is the fact that, he wants to make money and the only way he can make any real money is by making the club successful....and i for take it and accept it!!!
Babylon Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 and if reports from yesterday are true liniker and holmes? are backing his bid. They said they would back him "if the bid was a good one".

I tend to agree, what assets do we have? Some promising youngsters with negotoable value and, um, a training pitch? Hardly appealing to anyone who wanted to make a quick profit and run. Wolves would be a better target for asset-stripping than us lot.
lookwhaticando Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 They said they would back him "if the bid was a good one". Is that a broken record I see before me? Save yourself some typing, Bab - put that sentence in your signature.
ithuriel Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 the news reporter must have got mixed up then because he said backing , not will back if.

We do not know that. £25 million is the figure that's been bandied about by the press. It represents the amount which would be needed to get our stadium back, clear all debts and leave a bit leftover for new players. It does not necessarily have any relation to the amount offered by MM. In all likelihood the amount offered by MM would cover the cost of buy enough shares to get a controlling interest in the club, and nothing more.
Jon the Hat Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 I hope you don't have these thoughts about everything in life, you'd be a nervous wreck. He's never done any of the above at other clubs so why would he do it to us? If we can't trust a man with his track record then we might aswell give up. Let the current mongoles run our club in to the ground and then fold again. We can all take up 'pottering' about on a saturday instead then. No But then I don't think there is any reason to suspect that we will fold as we are now either. So we need to make sure that the deal is in the best interests of the club. Look around, there are other clubs being taken over, and I don't see them in the top 2 gunning for automatic promotion. What happens in 3 years if we are still in the Championship? Would we be in a better or worse situation? These are things the board must and no doubt will ask. If all Mandaric is offering is debt in a gamble to get into the Prem, then anyone can do it.
lookwhaticando Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 Ha ha ha ha ha.... i'll keep saying it until EVERYONE knows about it. Your post count is gonna friggin' soar! Carpal Tunnel Syndrome beckons.
Jon the Hat Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 Lets just keep it how it is then!!! We have something good going for us, otherwise these buyers wouldn't be here! All they are offering is debt, none of them are benefactors. The Club will take the risk. Mandaric won't be broke when he walks away, I can guarantee that.

Louise Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 MM interview on RL sometime in the next 15 minutes.

Creating debt has nothing to do with it.
Katy Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 MM interview on RL sometime in the next 15 minutes. Cheers Lou
