Absolutely ****ing terrible remake of one of the great contemporary horror films.

I'm not normally as furiously anti-remake as q lot of film nerds, I'm certainly more open minded than I used to be. For instance, I completely accept why Fincher opted to make Girl With... and I think it's a brilliant interpretation of the story.

But for some reason, when it comes to horror (specifically Asian horror) Hollywood just have this horrific habit of raping the original with gleeful lack of care. I think it's laziness, they think a few creepy shambling woman scenes make up for budget acting and direction, it's shameful

Tale of Two Sisters is visually stunning, brilliantly performed and hugely original, one of my favourite films. I recommend everyone watch it, just a shame it will have been partially ruined if you saw the Uninvited first.

Nooooo.... I've been trying to see that film since you recommended it years ago! I never knew this was the remake( which I saw a few months ago!) Bugger! :(

Just watched Martha Marcy May Marlene, about a young woman who escapes from a cult. Pretty good movie, which nicely builds into what should have been a big crescendo but unfortunately the film makers seemed to run out of ideas and forgot about shooting a proper ending. Decent none the less, 7.25/10

It took me a while after the film to twig why it had disappointed me so much.

The ending was shallow, yes, but it was more than that. I felt they really failed in creating enough menace in the cult, besides one sloppy murder and some mild sexual brainwashing, they were nothing severe enough to warrant the levels of terror. Especially given that, through so much of it, she was a gleefully willful participant.

Maybe part of the problem is how desensitized I am, as a twenty-first century cinema goer, that I don't find borderline rape and unprovoked murder shocking enough to conjure up true fear but I just never felt the scope of Hawkes' wrath.

Olsen is a terrific find, though. I thought she was brilliant and it's refreshing to know that someone in the family has talent.

Very good film, though I'm sure you need to be a parent to really appreciate it fully!

Not a bad musical, not quite as good as the Gene Wilder version!
