DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 How shit would it be after we're all worked up from respect for MM, if some no name American got the stake.
Daggers Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 These comments are slightly concerning As I said, these things are never quick. The board will want it to appear that they do not need the money, and that there exist many suitors, in order to raise the bid value per share. This will diminish investable income unless the successful new owner(s) have a large pot left to dip into. As fans, our largest concern is the latter - which sets us diametrically opposed to the needs of the board. It is in our interest to see the club sold for as little as possible. I aim to do my bit to reduce the clubs value by attending tonights game naked.

I_miss_wembley_finals Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 Midlands Rich List I am now going to throw my whole hearted support behind Woon Wing Jip, who at no.32 has £70m.

Jon the Hat Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 These comments are slightly concerning In theory they are looking out for those who have put money into the club. In reality they didn't put money in to make any, they put it in to save the club. So while they are likely to want to get a decent (or indecent) return on their money, I would be surprised if they don't accept one of the offers on the table.
Daggers Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 So while they are likely to want to get a decent (or indecent) return on their money, I would be surprised if they don't accept one of the offers on the table. But, logically, that doesn't mean the best deal for the club/fans. It could be the same, but the best offer for them could run contrary to the best offer for us. One has to hope that they hold the short/long term future of the club as dear as earnings per share.
Jon the Hat Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 No way, he has been asked many a time! Yes, but we don;t know his reasons for waying no, could have been becuase the club was badly run, now it is weel run and a tight ship. Maybe the valuation was in the tens of millions - now less than 10 milliion. Maybe he was too busy - now retired. Could be any number of reasons why he wouldn't buy in the past but might now. Also he has been in a legal battle with Equitable life for the last 5 years.. Which could have cost him hundreds of Millions. This has now been settled. Have you never wanted to buy something and been unable too for some reason or other?

Yes, but my point is that they didn't put their money in to make a quick buck, so we shouldn;t judge them on that basis. These are the men who saved our club from Extinction.
Daggers Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 These are the men who saved our club from Extinction. A club of our size will always find someone to buy it if it's cheap enough. I agree, they have their place in history but they stand to be judged on what they do now, not what they did then.

These are the men who saved our club from Extinction. Apart from Ronald McDonald, who got brought in no doubt to sell the club off!

The People's Hero Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 Who do you reckon the mystery midlander is?? David Wilson?? It's me and Disco Bob.

I agree, they have their place in history but they stand to be judged on what they do now, not what they did then. Well it was cheap enough after administration, I didn't notice a long list of buyers then, if it wasn't for the likes of Hesky, et al and the fans we would no longer exist. Let's see what they do now first.

Let's see what they do now first. Exactly. The cost of buying the club now is little different from after administration. Yet there are apparently 4 parties interestd in a complete takeover. Thats speaks volumes for what the board have achieved. Many people on here and in the fan base in general, some due to their young age and some due to ignorance, have no idea whatsoever what it means to get results while cutting your costs to the extent that the board have done in the last few years. It is a major achievement that we are in the position we are, and that deserves recognition. Many fans will disagree, but they clearly have no idea what they are talking about! The fools!!
Daggers Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 But they haven;t done it yet, so you aren't judging, you are prejudiced! :pinch: Gordon Bennett! Some people!
disheartened fan Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 "a club of our size" Exactly how big do some people on here think we are? there are many clubs in this league who can quite easily cliam to be bigger than we are!!
Lester LXXIV Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 "a club of our size" Exactly how big do some people on here think we are? there are many clubs in this league who can quite easily cliam to be bigger than we are!! We have the 17th biggest ground capacity in England.... I know that stands for nowt but I just wanted to have a 'statto' moment...
lcfc_jme Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 "a club of our size" Exactly how big do some people on here think we are? there are many clubs in this league who can quite easily cliam to be bigger than we are!! We're a big club alright. New, quality stadium and a very good fan base to exploitcall upon. If you knew what you were on about you'd be able to see why we're a very attractive proposition for potential investors p.s. Why is it that we get 4 or 5 parties bidding for us at once, when before this MM speculation no-one seemed interested?!

gatesheadfox Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 Who?...Leeds.......... in fairness there are a couple of big clubs such as leeds in our division. we are in fact a big club with a rich yet rocky history, there are many pretending big clubs now.
Master Fox Posted 31 October 2006 Posted 31 October 2006 How are we a bigger club than leeds? How are they a bigger club than us?
