Daggers Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 They want to buy the ground for their 'other' interests. An aggregate store Walkers Stadium ~ home to pebbles, stones and small rocks!
gatesheadfox Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 we better not be bought to house eggchasers or pebbles
MC Prussian Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 An aggregate store Walkers Stadium ~ home to pebbles, stones and small rocks! I already know what they could come handy in for:
Daggers Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 I already know what they could come handy in for: Only if Derby becomes a beard emporium and Coventry stop playing because the Ricoh is full of gourds
lookwhaticando Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 They want to buy the ground for their 'other' interests. Those Bardons.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 As mentioned, Bardon Aggregates is part of the same group of companies as Tigers' sponsor Bradstone. They are both owned by Aggregate Industries Limited which is a supplier to the construction industry based in Coalville. In 2004 Aggregate Industries reported an eighth successive year of record profits with turnover up to £1,659.4m from £1,458.9m in 2003, and profit before tax up to £147.6m from £140.1m in the previous year. At 31 December 2004 it employed over 9,800 people working in more than 650 locations. Aggregate itself is owned by Holcim a world-leading (it says here) supplier of cement and aggregates (crushed stone, sand and gravel) as well as further activities such as ready-mix concrete and asphalt including services. The Holcim Group holds majority and minority interests in more than 70 countries on all continents, and employs some 90,000 people. In 2005, Holcim recorded sales of over 18 billion Swiss Francs. Board members include Lord Norman Fowler and lots of Swiss blokes. In short, there seems very little connection to football other than an association with the egg chasers who like to call their sport football too.
Ultra Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 There is actually NO hard evidence that Bardon have put in a bid. The whole story began as a rumour on the FoxFanzine board, which at the moment is about as reliable as the Sunday Sport!

Ultra Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 This one wasn't. It was just an excuse for some of the resident saddoes to have a pop at the Tigers. Whatever our thoughts on the Tigers, they've been part of our city for 130 years now. Which is roughly 130 years more than our would-be sugar daddy can manage..
lookwhaticando Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 It's a bit much to expect a potential suitor to have been a part of our city for 130 years. We should get taken over by the Tigers, and swap grounds with them. They can afford the Walkers, so let them have it, and we'll have Welford road - after they've done their redevelopment of course.
Daggers Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 Rumours can be fun! I keep telling you - I do not do that with toilet brushes...and the zoo keeper removed the animals before the custard arrived.
ithuriel Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 I keep telling you - I do not do that with toilet brushes...and the zoo keeper removed the animals before the custard arrived. well thats what happens when you are seen giving a piggyback to a zebra , though the toilet brush and custard bit i never heard

Whatever our thoughts on the Tigers, they've been part of our city for 130 years now. Which is roughly 130 years more than our would-be sugar daddy can manage.. Which is also a 130 years more than any other Leicestershire tycoon who has never once stepped up to the plate. Get over it!!!
Daggers Posted 2 November 2006 Posted 2 November 2006 well thats what happens when you are seen giving a piggyback to a zebra , though the toilet brush and custard bit i never heard Oh, for God's sake! His bloody hoof was poorly. How many times do I have to go over this heavily raked ground?! The Judge said no one would ever know...bleeding newspapers. I guess these things happen when its a slow news week on FoxesTalk

I doubt very much that it will be bardon aggregate that will want to by us it will be there former owner and present owner of the tiger's peter tom who sold the company to holcim for millions and the only reason i can think of as to why he would by the club is for the grounshare.
stez Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 i can't be bothered reading the whole thread, so this may've been said before, but i reckon the american 'interested party' could be teachers. the own the ground, why not the rest of the club? coming soon; tesco freemans wharf

In financial terms we're probably a pimple on their bum in terms of relevance. I wouldn't think it would be worth their time or effort.
ThurmastonFox Posted 3 November 2006 Posted 3 November 2006 I can confirm that should when I win tonights Euro Millions, I will be considering making a significant offer for Leicester City FC. Well, everyone elses name is in the hat why not mine.
ThurmastonFox Posted 4 November 2006 Posted 4 November 2006 Unfortunately due to unforseen events, I will not be able to submit a bid. (The numbers didn't match my ticket)
Leicester Lass Posted 4 November 2006 Posted 4 November 2006 Anyone else heard that the Midlands interest is from a Gary Lineker + Carphone Warehouse guy headed consortium?
shen Posted 4 November 2006 Posted 4 November 2006 Anyone else heard that the Midlands interest is from a Gary Lineker + Carphone Warehouse guy headed consortium? Didn't Gary welcome MM's bid?
Leicester Lass Posted 4 November 2006 Posted 4 November 2006 Didn't Gary welcome MM's bid? I've heard this rumour from a few people now though
davieG Posted 4 November 2006 Posted 4 November 2006 Anyone else heard that the Midlands interest is from a Gary Lineker + Carphone Warehouse guy headed consortium? Aren't they both current shareholders?
