gatesheadfox Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 i thought RK had a 12month contract from the summer so that would mean he has 6months but i didnt know it was a rolling contract. hmm strange... stearman will leave if we get a good price and i think that MM would not keep kelly and i think kelly is too much of a nice sportsmen to get sacked, i rather have him as the coach. stupid i would say, not strange. if he's crap you always would have to pay 12 months wages as compensation. he should have been given a 12 month contract, to prove himself and then if he's not worth it its not breaking the bank to sack him at the end of the season
Mort Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 i think kelly is too much of a nice sportsmen to get sacked, i rather have him as the coach. Barton will say this anyway, so I'll go ahead and pre-empt him, why do you think RK's a good coach? I cant see any evidence to suggest that, just look at how unfit and unmotivated most of our team are this season, just like last season it's only the threat of relegation which will compell them to up their game nothing to do with RK. Being a nice guy has nothing to do with it, RK will go because he is a bad manager MM is not going to give a man a job coz he's a " nice sportsman" he'll only apoint folks who can do their job and do it well and RK doesnt fall into that bracket, that's one reason why talk of Dowie being lined up is so widespread... should the takeover go ahead (as we're all hoping and praying) then i doubt any of the coaching staff, outside of the academy, will survive the take over... Dowie (Or Pardew, please?!) will be apionted and the first place which will feel the affects will be the coaching staff. As for Stearman, he could do very well at Villa, but he'll only go if he's going to get regular football IMHO... if the MM deal still isnt going through the club may have to sell players and if MON and Villa want Stearman then he becomes the prime choice to sell to provide the money the club needs, the problem is that some of the cash generated will then be given to RK [shudder]. Well said. If the MM deal doesn't go through (heaven forbid) then players will be sold, but I don't think the board will give much to the manager. We'd be lucky to be allowed a couple of loan players or free transfers. After all, we have to find the £1 million + interest to pay on the ground for next season. teblin Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 Let the lad go. He's average at best ! Still so young, and not really filling the potential seen over the last couple of seasons. Wouldn't be with MON as his manager. If you get a million for him, could sign 2 players that would stop us crashing out of this league.

As i've already said, if we have to sell in January then it's because we are in the shit. The money we get for players will NOT be given to Kelly to spend elsewhere. He'll perhaps be given permission to bring in a few loan signings or free transfers, but we need to raise the £1 million for the interest on our stadium for next season. Daggers Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 It's a load of cock. MON is after a striker and an experienced attacking midfielder - Stearman simply doesn't fit his acquisition profile. The day he needs someone who can hoof the ball in random directions and spend more time in the wrong penalty box then I'm sure he'll be on the phone. He is after a right back though, he's even gone on record to say he needs one. dandannieldanok Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 Haha first Kiraly (Coco the clown) then Stearman, MON what are you doing. Although there is likely to be no truth to this I would be happy to let him go after his performances this season.
eaststandtom Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 If the bid is big enough let him go. Simple as no way!!!! this is disasterous. if the milan bid falls through stearman will be the first to go but not the last.

ithuriel Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 just a question but i did not think any player sales or purchases were aloud while the club is being sold? personally id like to see him stay , as ric flair stated , this season a number of our players are not performing to their best ability. one can only imagine why? chili_con_carne Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 Link Aston Villa seem to think he's a future England right back Rumour and speculation is mounting that Martin O'Neill has earmarked who he wants to bring to Villa Park in January and the two names doing the rounds today have connections to Martin O'Neill from previous clubs. Current Leicester player Richard Stearman, only nineteen, is seen as a right back with bags of potential. he has played for England U17's and many at Leicester see him as a future right back for England. He signed for Leicester after Mr O'Neill had left but to think the manager still doesn't have the odd connection or two would be daft. The other name mentioned today is Celtic striker Shaun Maloney. Maloney was rumoured to be of interest to Mr O'Neill last week and today Chelsea have also apparently shown an interest if you believe what you read in the Daily Record. Maloney is a real talent and Mr O'Neill will know this better than most. If Mr O'Neill wants this player he should go all out and get him; who would pick sitting on the bench at Chelsea over playing for Martin O'Neill and Aston Villa? No doubt rumours are going to be all over the place now as January approaches but don't expect Mr O'Neill to act quickly, he has a history of leaving it late in the transfer window but when he does bring someone in they normally add strength and talent to the team. gatesheadfox Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 Link Aston Villa seem to think he's a future England right back many at leicester? how many? stearman plus a few friends perhaps, i wouldnt even think he's good enough for a top half premiership side
breadandcheese Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 To be fair Stearman is a kid. The likes of Matt Dawson and Luke Young now make the England squad so I am sure that in 4 or 5 years, an improved Stearman will be around the fringes of the England squad. Quite frankly, if we get a good price for Stearman, sell him and let's reinvest the money back into the team.
treacle Posted 20 December 2006 Share Posted 20 December 2006 Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is set to swoop for Leicester's young defender Richard Stearman. (Various) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/g...ers/6195715.stm I seriously wouldn't want him to leave and i'm sure he wouldn't want to leave but it is MON and he does always make good signings, time to cash in..only if MM doesn't happen, i really hope it does cause i don't him to leave, he had a bad start to the season but hes picked up. I have played poker with some of the young city lads at casino weso, stearman, sheehan, i have a good chat and i was asking sterman about the sunderland bid and he goes he doesnt want to leave but he goes he will do whats best for the club cause we are going through tough times and he loves the club.. so i dont want him to leave..... whats the view on this new speculation? Villa launch bid for Leicester's Stearman tribalfooball.com - December 20, 2006 Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is ready to return to old club Leicester City to boost his defensive ranks. O'Neill is eyeing Foxes youngster Richard Stearman and aims to prise the fullback away from Walkers stadium with a £750,000 offer during the winter market next month. If that is just to keep the club going on as it is, with a steady decline towards div 3 football then no thanks I'd rather go out with better players on the pitch. If a sizeable amount is recieved will it all go on new players for jan / next season? Don't be daft about 20% would be given and the rest would go to "club costs". Milan In! amitoo Posted 20 December 2006 Author Share Posted 20 December 2006 Stearman is not that bad of a player, he has a good work rate and is a pretty much team player who enjoys playing for leicester so i cant see him moving, at his age he will know weather he will be warming the bench or getting his feet dirty on the pitch. If stearman can play like we have seen him play before then we can't afford to sell him. Its one of the best defenders we have, and we dont have that many
