I've seen Jarrett numerous times and he'll probably come in and do fairly well in his first few games...but then he'll start to fade, will get bit parts off the bench...rumours will start about him falling out with team mates in training....and there you have it....the story of him at every club he's had so far...

i hope he does well and maybe we cant set our sights too high anymore...??

That pretty well sums up what I've been reading about him. :(

maybe that's why it's only for a month?

As long as he's got a bit of energy about him I think it's the best signing we could possibly have hoped for in the current climate. I think he'll do okay for us. Massive responsibility on the current central midfielders though and he has a lot to live up to.

If the loanees aren't better than what we have or people like King and Dodds waiting in the wings you get four things...

a) You get more wages wasted.

b) You get more points lost in finding out.

c) You get disharmony among the people who have worked and trained for years at the club to get their opportunity.

d) You get seniors being pissed off because they're overlooked too.

How do you ever build a proper team on the back of loanees? The odd one or two, fine. But half a team of them?

I thought we'd have rent a crowd and that's the way it's turning out. And pretty unexciting rent-a-crowd at that.

You've only got to look at his record to fear the worst.

In close to 10 years he's scored six League goals for his eight different eight clubs. Some shot he must have.

His only significant contributions were to Bury where he stayed from 2000-2002 and scored four times in 62 League appearances.

At Wigan he scored once in 95 appearance from 2002-2005.

And people wonder why I want Andy King who might be inexperienced but has scored eight times this season up to the end of January in a team that is top of the League. That's more goals in six monthsthat this fellow in nearly a decade.

Cos I'll tell you this. King can shoot and he can score with his head.

You can't argue with that

your talking as if playing King and Dodds would guarantee points. if they were that good they'd be playing already. they've had plenty of time to shine in the youth team, why hasn't anyone took them on loan?

Can't imagine anyone would want them to go out on loan while they're playing every week and fighting to win the Academy League.

"That good" is a funny phrase. It suggests I'm making out they are something they're not. But would Dodds get more goals than at least two of our main strikers this season?. Yes, I think so.

And is King a better potential goalscorer and creator than what we have at present? No question.

That's all that matters in many ways. Not whether Dodds is Jimmy Greaves or King is Paul Scholes. But are they better than what we've got?.

Assuming Dodds is anything like fit, cos I know King is, I'd have no doubts whatsoever. And I think Dodds is a better bet for regular goals than Horsfield too but I appreciate the big man has been brought in for specific abilities.

Don't really agree with it - but I do understand it.

i think the club would prefer potential first teamers to get first team experience than win the academy league.

Oh well, just another loan player I've never heard of before who has a tracking and goalscoring record of close-to-zero.

Makes you wonder which fortune teller Rob Kelly's visiting. One with 50p All You Can See séances, I guess.

Looking at the bright side, Jarrett's only 27. 27. Imagine.

The highlighted points are the problem thracian - you talk about dodds and king et al as being better than the first team players like it is an empirical fact. It is not. We have no way of telling how good they will be at first team level - witness the other players ho have excelled at academy level and now are either semi pro or at the lower end of the league. All of this is your opinion, and as I myself and others have mentioned elsewhere if they were better than the players we have they would be playing. Yes i think dodds should have had a run out, but i do not think he would be competing for a regular place. As for not wanting to loan players due to being in contention for the academy league I would hope the club sees the greater long term advantage of a player getting loan experience over a piece of minor (but still desirable) silverware.

With Fryatt out I reckon Dodds could be on the Bench.

Hopefully he will get 20 mins and we can see if he has anything about him

doubt it, he wasn't on saturday. it'll probably be cadamarteri on the bench.

Yup you are right, Dodds doesn't standa a chance of even making the bench.

My car's got a good engine but it can't play football. So long as he's better than King I won't mind. If he's only as good as the others he'll be just another mouth we're feeding.

Yep he will be able to run around like a headless chicken in midfield for the full 90 mins...seriously look at this post it makes you realise how desperate we are in thinking a loaned PNE reject is a great move!

You reckon all these loans are some sort of subliminal message sponsored by the Alliance and Leicester?

6 goals in 9 years career? What the hell does Kelly see in him?

A player who he can put in to midfield when Johnson and Tiatto are injured in order to guarantee that the midfield will not add goals for us.

Seriously though, what is the lad like? 8 pages of this thread and I can tell it isn't all completely on topic. :P

I respect your view but don't expect me to be half-hearted in my opinion. If King and Dodds were in a team of mine I'd have complete faith in them. Which is more than I can say for Jason Jarrett having read his record.

I can't help but feel disappointed that we just seem to be taking rejects/bench warmers from other Championship clubs and not from the premiership.

I am assuming that this is due to wages, but I can't rule out that RK is a complete donkey...

What does everyone feel about this?

Bit of both.

In fact, a lot of both.

The answer isn't a load of over-hyped youngsters though. Too many other teams at the bottom have tried that.

Why do they do this? every time we sign someone they have to reel out this spiel about an ex-player saying how fooking wonderful we are?

.Scot Points Jarrett To Foxes.

Leicester City's most recent capture Jason Jarrett has cited a former Fox as being instrumental in his move to the Walkers Stadium.

Jarrett made the journey from Preston to join up with his new team-mates on Thursday.

And speaking on Leicester City World, the 27-year-old midfielder admitted to seeking a bit of friendly advice before making the switch.

He said: "I found out that there was a chance of a loan move to Leicester on Monday, and I spoke to Callum Davidson, who is a team-mate of mine at Preston, for a bit of advice.

"Callum couldn't speak highly enough of the club. He told me that the facilities were excellent and the staff were all friendly. So that helped me to make my decision."

And Jarrett also spoke to a recent City capture before he arrived.

He added: "I know Mark Yeates personally. He's a good lad and he has got a lot of ability.

"He also highly recommended the club to me, so that also helped me to decide. He got off to a great start with a goal last weekend and hopefully I can also get off on the right foot should I be selected to face Ipswich."

By his own admissions, Jarrett has experienced a frustrating time since he left Wigan Athletic for Norwich in 2005, but he is now hoping that his fortunes can turn with the Foxes.

"I had three-and-a-half years at Wigan and I experienced two promotions. It was probably the best time of my career and I look back at that time with fond memories.

"I was going to sign a new contract with Wigan but we just couldn't come to an agreement.

"The last couple of years have been frustrating for me. Things haven't worked out as I would have liked.

""I am desperate to play and I have got a lot to prove to myself. I am fresh and I am hungry.

"It's tough down there at the bottom of the division and we need to start picking up points as quickly as possible.

"I am just looking forward to playing and hopefully I can do well."
