Daggers Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 You reckon all these loans are some sort of subliminal message sponsored by the Alliance and Leicester? Either that...or its Scoweh
Lichfieldfox. Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 The debate seems to have moved from Jarrett's signing and poor record t othe value of loan players over acadamy players. Why would we want other Championship teams second string players? The manager must believe either they are good enough (based on their history) AND better than what we've got in the acadamy. This has to be believed to be true by the board/managerial team if we are in such a dire financial situation. Otherwise it makes no sense to me to sign players who have clearly been tried and tested and failed elsewhere or who are in the declining stages of a mediocre/previously promising career. Have we become a dumping zone for the misunderstood/hidden (absent) talent load of journeyman players? We have an acadamy team running away with their league, why? Are we breeding another clubs talent? Are we so shit scared to try them out in case either it fails or they get snapped up by another team? How does the acadamy set up integrate with the first team set up? These to me appear to be worrying signs of poor overall managerial structure. I'm not blaming any individual but it appears we have a cultural issue here at Leicester and no robust system that plans the transition of our youngsters so they can progress and maximise their abilities.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 I like the fresh and hungry. Prsumably he wouldn't have been so hungry if he'd agreed a new contract with Wigan when the chance was there! Why do you have to be so ****ing Cynical about evey single player we sign!

Excellent post I too worry about the current management structure in (amongst many other things) relation to bringing young players through from the youth ranks. Richard Stearman and James Wesolowski did not suddenly turn into inconsistent average players overnight.
The People's Hero Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 Fryatt was born in '86, the same year as Dodds. It's for that reason I don't see why Fryatt is dismissed as being rubbish and one of RK's chosen men, whilst Dodds is obviously amazing and has time to improve!
Cheese Me Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 .Scot Points Jarrett To Foxes. Hmm, good to know we're still thought of highly by ex players (even ones who got battered by their so called team mates). Nice on Callum, now can you recommend us to some of your other team mates - Nugent would be a good start.
cityangel Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 Well I hope he plays better for you than he did for us at Norwich. He started well just like he did at Preston but went down the hill very quickly. Good Luck tomorrow hope you beat our rivals Ipswich for us.

I can't remember the last time we won at Portman Road, seriously when was the last time we won at Portman Road?
davieG Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 According to the mockery Robert Kelly has set his sights on ending Leicester City's 19-year wait for a league win at Ipswich. City have not won a league game at Portman Road since a 2-0 success in the old Division Two back in February 1988. Since then, Ipswich have won nine of the 11 league meetings in Suffolk with the other two games finishing in draws. Indeed, City have not taken a point from Portman Road since a 0-0 draw back in March 1992 - but they did win the 1997 League Cup quarter-final there on the way to Wembley glory. Now Kelly has said City are looking forward to the challenge of ending their Portman Road hoodoo.
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 I can't remember the last time we won at Portman Road, seriously when was the last time we won at Portman Road? 1997, hardly suprising that.
lookwhaticando Posted 9 February 2007 Posted 9 February 2007 1997, hardly suprising that. 1988 in the league. I'm almost glad I'll be working tomorrow.

Dodds believes that
Thracian Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 Fryatt was born in '86, the same year as Dodds. It's for that reason I don't see why Fryatt is dismissed as being rubbish and one of RK's chosen men, whilst Dodds is obviously amazing and has time to improve! I love your flippancy at times but I sometimes wonder if you actually read posts and absorb what they say. Fryatt is not a bad player. Fryatt turned up this season unfit to play. He peformed badly. Nothing like the standard we know he is capable of. Then he got injured and was returned to the team before he was anything like fit. He played badly again. Then he seemed to take a grip on himself and get fit. He played better. He has still scored just three goals this season which, for our main striker, is simply unacceptable. Dodds, with over 60 goals within three seasons should have ben given a chance and Fryatt should have had the opportunity to regain his form from the bench. Nothing to do with him being "rubbish". He's off form. But another poster's written the truth. The club seem scared to use Dodds. It's a disgrace really. Dodds is not amazing. No-one has ever remotely said that. In fact he's easily missed which may be part of his problem. You might choose any words you like for effect but the fact is Dodds has only been cited as an option who might just end the goals drought of our main strikers. That's all. Nothing more. And why you should be so against it I cannot imagine. Nor can I imagine what is is about a three goals in six months striker that so impresses you.
Simon Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 Hull have just signed Ray Parlour. He was just the experienced midfield player we needed to help our youngsters along. I hope Jarrett can hit the ground running.

Oh well, I suppose if we don't win it will jsut be bad luck.
MC Prussian Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 How's he going to dot hat a defensive 4 4 2, being hard to beat. Oh well, I suppose if we don't win it will jsut be bad luck. No, it's because BartonFox didn't start the matchday thread.
MBK Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 No, it's because BartonFox didn't start the matchday thread. Am I to be held responsible for today's result?
mbd123 Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 Shit he may be. But he might be a slightly better shit than what we've currently got. What , good shlt !
lookwhaticando Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 Am I to be held responsible for today's result? Yes. 'fraid so. But, you knew the risks when you hit 'New Topic' this morning. ;)
morris1234 Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 might have already been posted but i cnt be bothered to go through tonnes of pages, just curious anyone know how many goals jarret has got in his career?last season?best season?! tbh i dont know what to think with robs signings dont know if we can trust him when we have money?
MC Prussian Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 Am I to be held responsible for today's result? I know all the good spots in Popeye Village - I've been to Malta before!
MBK Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 I know all the good spots in Popeye Village - I've been to Malta before! Lovely place innit...Malta I mean. Popeye village closed it think, big crater fell on it. There is something about the island where after the usual prem giants, leicester is seen as quite popular. Especially MON era, we used to get a lot of reportage.
Joe. Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 Jason Jarrett had a decent game today. Hope he keeps it up. It's right about him being a box to box midfielder, I was impressed with his work rate. Gave it away at times stupidly but doesn't everyone? Well done I say.
Leicester Lass Posted 10 February 2007 Posted 10 February 2007 Anyway - how did he do today folks? I honestly thought he made quite a bit of a difference to the midfield. Gave the ball away far too cheaply at times but for the most part he got stuck in well and used possession effectively. I think he could do quite well for us. Although maybe he just looked better because we're used to seeing a Hughes - Johnson partnership?
