Filbert_Ross Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 At Ipswich last week i noticed they had a few microphones in the top of the stand to enhance the noise/carry the noise, would it be possible to have some put in at the walkers? probably, but doubt we'd ever do it. I thought the atmosphere was good on saturday, I sit in the Kop and I made a point of looking out for the N block and from were I was sitting that end of the ground seemed no different from normal but I dont doubt that there was a really good atmosphere in the N block it is a real shame the sound does not carry!!
SystonFox Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 i sat in N block about 4 rows from the back, next to a guy with 7 Hume on his shirt and an LCFC england flag, he pulled me down a row when we scored the second!!! it was a great atmosphere and a really good time, i dont care if the kop can hear us cos we couldnt really hear them expect ooooooooooooh twat your shit aaaaaaaaah. we had a brilliant array of songs in n1 and nearly everyone joined in with When Your Smiling like we'd wanted. i dont see why everyone who sat/stood in n1 vs Cov will just take it upon t hemselves to do it vs West Brom. publicity will help again to spread the word but i know if i hear any plans i am there again.
Guest Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 The Family Stand is in the wrong place in my opinion Many clubs locate their family area next to the away fans. It means that the home troublemakers would be in one area, not two. It is also thought that the travelling fans will moderate their own behaviour when they see a lot of little kiddies next to them.
Simi Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 i sat in N block about 4 rows from the back, next to a guy with 7 Hume on his shirt and an LCFC england flag, he pulled me down a row when we scored the second!!! The guy with the flag is Kilworth Fox.
Thracian Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 For anyone who thinks we're just kids and/or a buch of chavs there was a 60-70 year old women behind me who stood all game and joined in with the songs. She seemed like she enjoyed her day! You be careful, Standup!

That may have been me. But i didnt have a flag.
SystonFox Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 were you with someone who had a flag cos he was only there in the 1st half. i asked you (or this mystery guy) if you will be there next game?

Was there a short guy next to him? If so, that was me and Kilworth Fox.
Bert Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 were you with someone who had a flag cos he was only there in the 1st half. i asked you (or this mystery guy) if you will be there next game? wern't me then.

SystonFox Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 dont know what row i was as i was meant to sit on GG but i stood at the back pre match, banged on the wall to get a song going and got shouted at by a steward so we moved forward. i did start alot of songs like we hate coventry and doo doo doo danny cadamarteri.

Sods Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 I'm defo having the drum next time. dont over play it though. Drum was right behind me yesterday, two of them banging the bastard.
C-man Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 agree with every word you have said Why does every thread on this forum about the atmopshere turn into a Kop vs N1 vs L1 battle? It shouldn't matter. We're all LCFC fans and we all want the same goal. For Leicester to do well. Anyone in the Kop who say they can't hear N1 or L1 need their ears testing. Besides, thats the way it should be. If we in the Kop were as loud as we should be, then we shouldn't be able to hear them. I know, and everyone else who sits in the South Stand, week in week out, knows that we arent loud enough, and it is a problem. I'd love to see the Kop switch ends for next season, but there isn't much chance of that to be honest. So failing that, I'd love to have our Ultras try and form an area in the Kop. Obviously it'd be harder because there isn't a clear cut area, but at each corner of the Kop, there are two areas which are sparsely populated, and they could be successful in creating a great Kop atmopshere! Many of the new N-blockers will currently be happy with their current position next to the away fans, but there simply is not enough room there for this Ultras scheme to be a success. I'd love them to switch ends and get 1000-2000 Ultras in the Kop.
foss1884 Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 A bit long-winded, but here is my email to the club: Hello Peter, I would just like to say thank you very much for Saturday. The experience in Block N was absolutely fantastic and it was the best experience i have had at a football match at The Walkers Stadium for a long time, if not ever. I managed to bring a few friends from where i originally herald from in Suffolk and they were equally impressed by the atmosphere in Block N and have now pledged to come to the next home game as fledgling Leicester fans! I can honestly say from consulting numerous fans at the game, after and on the Foxes Talk fans forum that Block N has reinjected some much-needed passion and conviction into supporters that attended in Block N and those that heard us are considering re-locating based on the success of the singing section against Coventry. I am aware that there have been some complaints regarding swearing, some banging on the shutters by Coventry supporters, coin-throwing and persistent standing. The first viewpoint is completely flawed as the Family Stand is located adjacent to away fans and the vitriolic abuse that home supporters receive is by far worse than what we have ever or did muster on Saturday. Did anyone in the Family Stand complain about Coventry chants of "Paedo" directed at Alan Birchinall at half-time. I think not. If so, i want to lodge a counter-complaint at the swearing made by away supporters, which they spout on a match-by-match basis, but we take foregranted. What are the club to do on the matter? There is nothing we can do as we accept it as part of football. The fact there is an issue here is startling as the configuration of the stadium is flawed anyhow! The banging on the shutters by Coventry fans coupled with the coin-throwing has absolutely nothing to do with Leicester supporters and i am proud and amazed that nobody retaliated in the Leicester end, which should be commended by the club and demonstrates the responsibe support we gave despite provocation. The game passed with little incident in the stands and for the first time there was a proper atmosphere inside the stadium and singing 45 minutes before kick-off! The issue of standing is something that unfortunately will never disappear from football. I did try to urge supporters around me to periodically sit from time to time, but my example was met on deaf ears. The problem is that singers generally prefer to stand and you can only be ever truly vocal by standing. I trust nobody was hurt at the game. I understand that the club intend to get tough with home fans on standing, i hope this will extend to away fans as if not the efforts will be counter-productive and not feasible. I also hope this is measured and allows for intervals of standing for singing and chanting. The fact of the matter is on our television screens we see the entire Stretford End at Old Trafford and The Kop at Anfield standing and supporters hate double-standards when the big-money clubs can prominently get away with it on a weekly basis! But, with regard to Block N, there will always be moaners and doubters. I am aggrieved at having children and families allowed in all sections of the stadium including The Kop and L1 if there is a designated stand for the like. But, i am content being a Leicester fan and just want to support my team in the best way possible along with other like-minded vocal souls. The club on Saturday made a lot of fans VERY happy by allowing a large group of supporters to sing-it felt like an away game. The idea of a singing section is well-liked and supported and i urge you to allow it for the remainder of the season and to establish it permanently next season. I can assure you from a marketing perspective it will be VERY popular! We had such a great day on Saturday, please do not spoil the decent support we gave the lads and allow it to continue. Otherwise, i fear many supporters will become disiluusioned and will consider not coming to home matches as we are alienated in the stadium as a whole.
SystonFox Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 great email. i trust you will let us know of a response a.s.a.p and also if the N Block is to be allowed as a singing section for the rest of the season. i totally agree on the comment that it felt like atmosphere at an away game and i heard this throughout the game by numerous fans. i just hope it wasnt so good because we were beating local rivals, i hope we can put on a good show when we may be 0-1 down to west brom or drawing 0-0 with 10 mins to go in a dull game vs QPR. you know what i mean dont you?
SystonFox Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 i also agree the behaviour of the fans in N block was good especially i seen alot of coins thrown from the cov fans and they continued to bang the perspex wall but the N Blockers continued to sing songs about Leicester City etc and didnt wander over to throw gestures or even coins back.
foss1884 Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 great email. i trust you will let us know of a response a.s.a.p and also if the N Block is to be allowed as a singing section for the rest of the season. i totally agree on the comment that it felt like atmosphere at an away game and i heard this throughout the game by numerous fans. i just hope it wasnt so good because we were beating local rivals, i hope we can put on a good show when we may be 0-1 down to west brom or drawing 0-0 with 10 mins to go in a dull game vs QPR. you know what i mean dont you? The fact is we all know with more support and encouragement from the fans it can be even better and louder! The idea of a singing section was only given a week for publicity and yet we scrambled enough support to create such a tremendous effect against Coventry. Forget the scoreline, there was singing nearly 45 minutes before kick-off! I think that for West Brom it can be even better if we are allowed as more fans want to join the cause and the existing supporters that attended want to re-experience that unique atmosphere that we had in Block N. It was great! Let's just hope the club make the right decision tomorrow and we can then all re-locate in good time!!
SystonFox Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 i only turned up 10 mins before kick off but it was plenty vocal enough by that time which was nice to see. i hope they decide to go with it again as it'd be great.
foss1884 Posted 18 February 2007 Posted 18 February 2007 It was great to see and experience. As for the acoustics, bare in mind, the stadium is designed to divert noise to the pitch and i am sure they appreciated the vocal encouragement from different sides of the ground. We were loud it is just that sound does not carry in the stands! On a final note, i urge you all to send your emails of support and positive experiences that you had in Block N to the football club as it will help massively and show the weight behind the idea. We need to overwhelm the club with our complementary emails about the singing section to prevent any hasty decisions being made by contacting Peter Jones directly at: [email protected] Cheers.
muzzysgal Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 dont over play it though. Drum was right behind me yesterday, two of them banging the bastard. Do you think it was overplayed? My husband was dead set against the drum before the game, but when it was given to him and his mate he thought that they'd pitched it about right, without going OTT.
