N Block, L1, Kop - Got something to say about them put it in here.

Recommended Posts

Regretfully I am e-mailing you following a very disappointing experience at Leicester city today. This has nothing to do with the action on the pitch, as that is part of being a supporter; I am more frustrated by the atmosphere at the games and the half-hearted efforts by the club to improve it.

This season is my second as a season ticket holder and I always try to do my bit for the atmosphere. Consequently, when I heard about the new singing section I decided to make the move. Having enjoyed the atmosphere in the trial games I decided to stick in the N block for the rest of the season, and I have recently moved my season ticket across there.

Today I sat on row CC, and was very disappointed with the general attitude of stewards and police in this area. I and many people around me were both surprised and disappointed at being told to sit down, which gets me thinking, should I have moved? In addition to being told to sit down, the police were filming the whole section throughout the match; this makes me feel very patronised as I am trying to watch a game of football.

I am also told that people were chucked out for persistent standing, how many you ask... two. Yes out of the few hundred Leicester fans standing in N block, the same number in L block and likewise in the away fans, two Leicester fans were chucked out for persistent standing. This is completely ridiculous, especially since we were in a supposed singing area. There are clear mixed messages being sent out from the club.

Away fans stand every match and nothing is ever done, so it hardly seems fair that Leicester fans are thrown out, baring in mind they probably had no intention of causing trouble.

There is also the issue of gesturing, apparently you can be thrown out for this too. This happens at EVERY ground in the country by THOUSANDS of fans, and I don't see how its that bad, I had QPR fans slapping their butts directed at me and trying to intimidate me with their height, they did not get escorted out, the club needs to be consistent and make it clear to all fans, home and away, what the consequences will be.

I appreciate you have to bear in mind all supporters, but I think you are isolating the most vocal fans and pushing them away, which can only be bad for the club and the atmosphere. I also think if you are going to have a singing section it needs to be given full support, and people who are sitting in that section need to be aware that it is meant for singing. Sorry to rant on but as I say I am very frustrated and don’t know where I stand (or sit) with regards to the club and the atmosphere. I have still not covered everything I wanted to say but I’ll leave it at that for now.

I thank you in advance for any reply and taking my thoughts into consideration.

I did say it was long.

FFS, how many time do I have to tell you you aren't allowed to stand at a football game in a all seater stadium, the fact that it's a singing section doesn't count for shit, you should of complained more about the people stood in front of him, the lack of warnings and the singling out

I wouldn't give up straight away. This is one isolated incident that was probably handled by the stewards the wrong way. Let's be honest now, the N block idea is now up and running so do you need the club anymore anyway?

You have the fan power all it needs is for people to keep going there. The club can't stop that.

We have the fan power. But what happens now? Me and Micky love starting songs off and trying to sustain them. We're banned. What if they go for Tommo and a couple of others who start songs at the next game (with it being Derby the police and steward presence will be massively increased) and ban them? If they rip out the heart of the block, then the block might as well not be there. Sorry mate, but I fear the club is now trying to stifle us and the hard work was for nothing.

I can see what you're saying and I know it's hard but everyone just has to be more careful at the Derby game. If they tell you to sit, you've got to sit. Otherwise you know now what's going to happen. They can't stop you singing and they never will.

You've just got to not go OTT and be careful what you do and say from now on if you sit there.

I would advise everybody who sits there to do exactly as they did today. You obviously did nothing wrong, and so carry on as you were. For actually trying to follow what the stewards say will get you kicked out. Honestly.

BY sitting though it just turns the whole thing into another 'happy clapping situation' as Manwell says.

As I have said earlier in the thread. We were told that standing would be permitted with some sitting. We were NOT warned ejections would be used as a punishment for not sitting.

Well you stand when you sing anyway so standing will still be a common thing... :dunno:

I see that. But as Jamie says you are not going to sit down and look at peoples arses if they are not sitting. I was on row NN and nobody sat down infront of me so I couldn't sit down. But I was never approached by a steward to say sit down. Even though they warned they would before the game.

I agree totally with what you just said yes but I just think Jamie's ejection should be a bit of a lesson to others...

Love how Manwell's contribution in the last few pages is...

I TOLD YOU SO.

lollol

Unlucky Jme lad, im sure it'll be overturned.

I've actually had a chat with Manwell about this in person after the game, and to his credit, he has been quite helpful to me, which I am thankful for.

As for it being overturned, I can't see it. If I'd have been calm in the detention room, then I suppose I'd have stood a chance. But I've been made a scapegoat and wasn't very calm or happy in the detention room about numerous things, one being the policeman putting a camera in my face and filming me.

Oh, and to clarify, upon entering the ground this afternoon, I was told you'd be given 3 warnings to sit down, and if they had to talk to you a 4th time, you'd be ejected. Funny, because I sat down and wasn't given any warnings, yet I was ejected. Bravo. :appl::rolleyes:

That shows poor stewarding yes. The club will hear your case, hopefully treat the detetntion room as a heat of the moment thing and let you come back....

I'm sure it will be. Derby being the next home game will not help. As jme has said the Police presence will be very high and i'm guessing they will approach with a 'No Nonsence' attitude.

I couldn't care less to be quite honest. The complaints about policing and stewarding from the away fans has been quite constant over the course of this season, and today I have seen why. The stewards don't actually know what they're doing, and the police were seemingly up for a fight with me should I have wanted to give them one. The whole thing is seriously making me consider boycotting the home games we play and just spending all of the money a Season Ticket costs on making every away trip we have next season.

That's just how I feel.

well tbh i really cant see them targetting the derby game as i think the Derby fans will all stand the majority of west brom and all off leeds. I think they will be more keen on stopping violence. Anyway it should be packed in the north stand as its derby.

i reckon everyone should just move to the kop south stand were there is less stewards and no police

surely if we moved they would follow. Plus as ched has said the kop is populated by st holders. I just blame the stadium builders/designer
