N Block, L1, Kop - Got something to say about them put it in here.

Recommended Posts

I have just thought of a good argument against the club for JME and those writing letters.

why when they advertised the "singing section" on the website and magazine did they accompany the articles with pictures of fans STANDING AND SINGING !!!

then they go and eject people for doing what they (appear) to be promoting????

John, your allowed to stand lol.

Just not persistantly, trust me Liverpools kop isn't stood for 90 minutes. And thats exactly what they'll tell you if you say that. The issue concearning JME isn't about standing any way, It's not allowed, I know I do, I break plenty of stadium rules :D it but if someone tells me to stop standing I do as they ask as they are in the right!

Don't ask how long you have to stand before it's counted as persistant standing I do not have a clue.

What seems injust in JME's case is that he was seemingly kicked out at half time for things he hadn't done/couldn't help doing.

Liverpools whole kop stands for the whole 90 minutes for big games ie.. champions league, chelsea, manure etc.... did you watch their match with barcelona and man united and this was the case..

They don't mate I'm telling you! they stand alot but not all the time! the cameras only focus on them when they are stood up and singing you'll never walk alone which is why it gives the impression they're stood up!

either way it's still not legal :D if they're lucky enough to have stewards who are prepared to risk their jobs by not applying the rules at Liverpool then good for them, however it seems the ones at Leicester clamping down for some reason <_<.

I have been to two Champions League games at Anfield this season and they did not stand for the whole game.

When Liverpool were attacking the Kop end, they all stood but sat back down again.

Again, I am thankful for all of the people saying they think I was treated unfairly, it is appreciated and I am sorting out getting an appeal for it. :)

Ahh clamping down for some reason? I'll just explain the reason I was given on the steps in N Block prior to kickoff:

The Safety Advisory Groups have been complaining about our fans standing up and ignoring the rules for the full 90 minutes of league games this season, making the stadium an unsafe place and a health risk to those in it and around the standing sections. As well as the SAG's complaining, the local police have been complaining to the club as well, and have written/phoned in on numerous occasions asking them to do something about it, as it is becoming very unsafe, not only for them, but for the supporters as well. It's also antagonising to away fans, and could lead to problems with them. They were warned action could be taken if they did not start clamping down on standing. To top it all off, the FA have even been in touch with the club. That's right, the Football Association have contacted the club issuing them with warnings about action being taken because we stand up. If the club do not clamp down on the standers, and get people sitting down, then we face losing our safety certificate, thus meaning that the stadium will be closed, all games will be played behind closed doors, and the club will begin losing money.

Now, with them being a money-greedymaking organisation, they don't want this, and so are on the warpath as far as standing supporters are concerned.

Threat of Stadium Closure

Following taken from the Football Licencing Authority website:

The reluctance of the football authorities to table this issue was unlikely to be overcome unless the FLA could persuade club chairman of the consequences of taking no action. It was agreed that anecdotal evidence would not be sufficient. Cost and liability implications would be a much stronger message.

Our statutory powers allowed us to close sections of grounds but we would need to demonstrate proportionality. This action might well lead to judicial review. The negative attitude of the football authorities was very disappointing and the FLA could not sit back and do nothing. The Board wanted to show the FLA would not tolerate persistent standing. The key was convincing club chairmen of the need for action.

What I have highlighted in bold in particularly relevant and perhaps why despite many, many, clubs being threatened with ground closure it has not yet happened. Would a Court agree that partial ground closure was in propotion to the risk posed by standing? I suspect not, hence no closures to date.

With all the current debate and media interest in safe standing areas being introduced I strongly suspect a judicial review is the last thing the Government or FLA would like to see.

If it's a game behind closed doors they want there's a much easier way for the club to achieve it and to satisfy the police and SAG, just keep serving up the utter shite we are now seeing every week - the ground will soon be empty.

Any news on the Parliamentary motion calling for a judicial review? It's all gone quiet.

Lisa, we've yet to hear whether or not the EDM has been successful in that the Minister for Sport will agree to a discussion on the subject of safe standing.

Far from going quiet however, the BBC Sport website have started to take a real interest (3 articles in less than a week) and there was a meeting last week at the House of Commons that Kate Hoey hosted. I'll dig out the link and post it in a second.

Leicester City FC sent representatives to this very meeting and at the meeting Everton FC said that they would consider trialling safe standing areas and they are most definately looking at them as an option at their proposed new ground.

The Football Supporters Federation are due to publish a comprehensive report within weeks and the results of the most recent Football Fans Census survey on standing are being looked at by the BBC, but I can't say more than that at the moment.

Probably the best progress is that the local press in Liverpool are starting to take a real interest with several articles being published in recent weeks.

Sorry to hear how poorly treated you were today Jamie. The stewards are only following instructions from the head of Health and Safety...shame though that you were clearly made a scapegoat of. As I said to you in the Station Hotel in Ipswich...never trust the club!!!.

As in any industry, all levels of lower and middle management have to dance to the tune and jump through the hoops of any legislation laid down by the idiots with little or no common sense; ie those at the top.

its disgraceful really, what did me n jamie do wrong, getting behind our team, thats we were doing.

call it the "singing section" its a farce. what do dey do, they decide to tell us to sit down, no continuous chanting :o harsh, fooking disgraceful <_<

Did anyone capture the moment Jme_lcfc was thrown out and banned? lol

Sorry..... :P

I can't imagine that anybody would have captured the moment on camera to be quite honest.. All eyes were focussed on the game, and, at the moment I was being "escorted" by the wankers in the orange, QPR went and scored!! No time to notice little old me being dragged out I'm afraid! Sorry. :P

You're a martyr in my eyes!

I think we need to start a campaign to get you allowed back.

Make a petition or something? When they see how many followers you have they are bound to reinstate you to leader?
