a-fox Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 1) teachers can confiscate mobile phones 2) teachers can give out Saturday detentions 3) teachers are aloud to use reasonable force splitting up a fight or removing a student from the class room discus
The People's Hero Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Is this a suggestion? Or has this been introduced?
Coxy Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 They won't do any of those, parents wouldn't allow it for one thing.
Daggers Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Teachers already confiscate mobile phones, and have done since the bastard things were invented. Teachers have always been able to pull kids into schools - Heads detentions were traditionally run on a Saturday at a school I worked at in Essex. Only a fecking moron would dream of trying to use "reasonable force" to break up a scrap or extricate a little shit from a classroom...as the parents of little shits tend to spend their days watching Lawyers4U adverts on daytime TV.
The People's Hero Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 As for the discus, I think that should be just for the boys. Women's boobies get in the way.
a-fox Posted 3 April 2007 Author Posted 3 April 2007 Is this a suggestion?Or has this been introduced? there introducing it after the easter holidays and they can do these without asking the parents
The People's Hero Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 My girlfriend will *hopefully* qualify in the next few months.
Daggers Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 there introducing it after the easter holidays and they can do these without asking the parents As I have just said...these rights existed under 'Common Law' but have been extended to include the ability of teachers to discipline students outside of school (eg during holidays, on buses in town, down at the chippy)
hairy Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 One easy way to get round teachers is to make sure the room is hotter than 27'C. Then they will walk.
Sly Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 As for the discus, I think that should be just for the boys. Women's boobies get in the way. I didn't need to read any more of thsi thread.....that comment alone is simply brilliant by TPH!

I'd have more fun watching the little shits kicking ten bells out of each other. In fact I'd probably run a book on the fight
Simon Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 To break up a fight- yes I will use reasonable force. Generally simply separating the children is enough (with primary school children thats easier than secondary school pupils). Will I use force to remove a child from a classroom? No, that would be a completel different kettle of fish. Confiscate mobile phones- definitely, its already being done. Detentions on Saturday- why? Why would I do that? That would mean a teacher having to supervise it!

Spee-d Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 yes, give the child who doesnt turn up for school saturday detention which they most likely wont turn up for Will the students be bovvered? I dont think so...
lildave3 Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 Teachers already take phones, and they can give detentions for any day i believe. And does A-Fox annoy anybody else? Or is just me?
Benji Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 yes, give the child who doesnt turn up for school saturday detentionwhich they most likely wont turn up for Will the students be bovvered? I dont think so... Punish the chav parent(s) that have allowed them to be like it
Rincewind Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 A few years ago (+ 20) when my brother was a teacher in London at a Fenn Street type school he had to use force on a kid. His father came storming up to the scoool and said something like 'Wat ya ittng my Johnny for, I'll do yer.' My brother said to him I'll tell you why I disciplined him, he called me a @@@@ and a £$$$45. The father turned to his son and gave him a clout around the ear. Wouldn't happen today would it? As for detention my brother taught maths and before he left the school some pupuls were volunteering to do extra classes because they enjoyed his method so much. The kids were from a background where it was of the opinion they had no future but they changed their way of thinking to if theres going to be one successful kid on this estate it's going to be me. Mobile phones? Quite right to remove them. They are not there to sent smutty messages to the girl in front or send stupid pictures of the teacher to each other. It can be annoying for the teacher and the pupils that are interested in the lesson to put up with bing bong bing bong ring tones and girlie giggles. Learn to do without your mobile for an hour or so.

Jon the Hat Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 It's going to get worse before it gets better. We are reaping the rewards of undermining teachers for the past 20 odd years. They have no authority over the kids in their care, and the first generation to take full advantage of this are now the parents who expect the schools to be able to deal with their kids. We reap what we sow.

Dr The Singh Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 Various Laws are made etc, balh, blah!! But who the fook is going to enforce them!!! I know teachers that give detentions and kids don't attend etc, what happens then??? There are many problems with society at the mo, alot is related to upbringing and discipline from peers!!!
davieG Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 I blame the 60's sex revolution, mainly because I didn't get any of it! Was it really going on?
lcfc_jme Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 Poor rule changes. Teachers I believe are entitled to take mobile phones already and indeed did do at my secondary school.. Not that it made a blind bit of difference 'cos kids just kick off and cause a right fuss, which leads to more problems than were previously there. Saturday detentions?!? !! As if you're going to get unruly kids turning up for these! They don't even turn up for normal detentions when they're at school ffs! And teachers being allowed to use "reasonable force" to split up fights? Yeah, good one. What happens when a teacher uses reasonable force and the kid turns round and smashes the teacher one? Or the kid goes home and over-exaggerates to their parents, so the dad goes in and kicks seven shades of shit out of the teacher?? 'Cos that's evidently what will happen.
