Who else do we have though? He deserves to be in the squad. Maybe not the team though every week.
Mark Posted 14 April 2007 Share Posted 14 April 2007 Who do we play instead then? Exactly. We've got a woeful squad of players, no other choices available especially on the wings. Without his 6 assists this season we'd be dead and buried.
Sly Posted 14 April 2007 Share Posted 14 April 2007 The simple answer is we have no one else. This is why he playes every week. I don't think he's over rated. Maybe a bit one dimensional but you don't know how the coaches/managers tactics have restricted his game. Tharican spoke about him very highly before he broke into the first team and I think if we can keep hold of Porter then we have a gem in the making. davieG Posted 14 April 2007 Share Posted 14 April 2007 Well he may be small in stature but he's got a big heart and went in where it hurt today which is more than you can say about Newton, who when the going gets tough decides he'd much rather be somwwhere else. Sorry but today Newton was our best player in my opinion. He was good at creating time and space for himself, passed it nicely, made some good runs, and made an assist with his pass to Fryatt (who miscontrolled for Kenton to score). Levi was pretty unimpressive - hardly caused the Norwich backline any problems. He had one good cross in the first half but the rest of the time his crossing was woeful - including corners. The last minute half chance he ballooned over was a pretty poor attempt too. That said, we don't have anyone else on the left wing, so it has to be Porter. holly Posted 14 April 2007 Share Posted 14 April 2007 Porter is a very good player, he doesnt get used enough and then when he does get used passes are usually bad to him or no-one helps him out therefore him getting himself into difficult situations and not always looking great. I like him though he always plays with 100% and gets forward and back, glad he is in the team. Thought Newton also did well today made a real attacking threat imo

It wasnt the best effort no, but what pissed me off was that the ref ws right in his way and he had to re-adjust to hit it which doesnt help. Anyway though, Porter again didnt have his best game but if the on telling ball that he put in was converted, we'd all be raving. Besides, he'll be very good in league 1 next season. He has pace and is pretty strong for one so small.
lee7 Posted 14 April 2007 Share Posted 14 April 2007 levi went in for some challenges today where other weeks he might of jumped out of them but i also thought that newton had a better game than levi running at defenders with the ball

I agree Newton did make some valuable contributions but most of the time he was awol and after they scored their second he completely gave up, you could see he just couldn't be arsed to get back into the game, of course that could be attitude of a lack of fitness either way he's no good to us if he's only performing for half the game. MBK Posted 15 April 2007 Share Posted 15 April 2007 Levi? Overrated from the same Leicester fans who claimed he would be as good as rooney. Get your head right, quick. He is inconsistent and inexperienced but he can work on that in the summer and next season without any pressure. Besides my impression is that players like Porter and Weso are doing all they can whilst players like Hume and Kisnorbo seem to be taking the piss real bad. Drop them to the reserves if they display the same arrogance again.

Phube Posted 21 April 2007 Share Posted 21 April 2007 From a poster on another forum. Strange things with this statement: One: The General has no emergency facilities at all, therefore it is very rare that any one would be rushed there!! Unless, Two: Porter has a known, underlying health condition that would be known to staff at the General. And as the only specialism the General does is renal, this would be my first thought!! Bryn Posted 21 April 2007 Share Posted 21 April 2007 I hope he gets well soon if that's true, and I hope BartonFox feels like a twat if it turns out Porter actually IS ill. Sounds like it might be a viral infection if he was ill with a fever the other night and now he's in hospital, although it could be that both events are totally unrelated.
