Was gonna say this. Hampshire look light on batting and relying on old heads in the bowling dept.

I think they'll go down and it'll be between us, Yorkshire or Glamorgan for the last spot.

Rae was saying on comms that Nick Kelly has arrived in the UK and we may look to bring him in as sub for the second innings.

We aren't a hopeless team being skittled for 130 each innings but you also feel we aren't going to capitalise on good situations like today.

Yep. The main problem is taking quick wickets and getting on top on the occasions where we are able to make 300-400 in the first innings, that's where you win games. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong tomorrow.

To be fair, highest total Essex has posted all season in any innings at home so far is 270 and only one other side got more than that. If we bowl well….

Maybe but Hull, Mike and Patel don’t fill you with confidence. Need Holland and Green to be really on it, with the others at least keeping it tight.

Random change of subject but I am intrigued as to which 2 overseas will be picked for our first T20 game. Turner will be a Cert i'd imagine as he's been signed specifically for the blast but don't know who the second will be out of Patel and Kelly.

I know he's not to everyone's tastes, but today really did emphasise that Rae will be a loss to the commentary circuit.

Hopefully a decent score. We will see. Not sure why our batsmen are all out Chris Gale or Chris Tavere. Something between be great. Thought we lost momentum with Tattershall and Holland. Game just went nowhere for an hour. 

 

Feel Holland is to high in the order. 

 

First hour tomorrow massive get in amongst them and who knows.

The contrast between the three commentators in the box at Essex this week speaks volumes for the quality of Richards work. I can’t believe that the BBC don’t recognise this.
