Not players from Sunderland/Brum who're ditched the second they make the Premiership, but ones that are being replaced as those two clubs strive to go higher. Not that I can think of a single player from either Sheffield or Reading that we might take right now.
Mort Posted 7 May 2007 Posted 7 May 2007 There are two broad groups of player that championship sides can attract on loan, first off there are the experienced, out of favour “pros†(Hendrie, Diao, Cole etc…) the second group are the young, talented but inexperienced (Larson, Bendtner, Lupoli, Idrizaj etc…). There is merit in attracting both kinds of players, however I would like to see a credible manager at city (as I think a “big club†needs to have faith in a manager’s ability to nurture their players – a key reason why none wanted to touch Kelly with a barge poll!) make an approach to bring some younger players in, possible candidates I would suggest from Arsenal… Francisco Merida (MF) Giorgos Efrem (MF) Nacer Barazite (MF) Rene Steer (FW) …there are others at others, but after the success of Arsenal loanees at Derby and Brum I though I’d recommend a few from the same club. Brining the “experienced, out of favour pros†in on loan is something Mandaric (perhaps not entirely fairly) has been associated with in the past. There are a number of potential targets that might emerge in the summer as Hendrie did last year, but overall I’d maintain that we should focus on bringing the young and talented into the club rather than “journeymenâ€. Despite this I think we will need to bring in two or three “experienced†players but I’m not convinced we would want to bring them in on loan. Personally I’d argue that the permanent signing of two or three experienced players, complemented with the addition of younger players, be they from our own academy or brought in either on loan or on permanent deals, should be what characterises our transfer policy in the summer… at the very least it would be sustainable and I’d have thought successful!

Someone like Brandy could be a possibility, mainly because he is nowhere near the first team. Ben Sahar is almost a regular Israeli international (I think he played for them against England??) so may prove too difficult and I dont know who Lindfield is! I think we should be realitic though and keep away from over 30s as loanees as there has got to be a reason as to why a club loans out an over 30s player instead of selling him. Maybe its because the greedy sod wont go on a permanent deal??!! The best way is to do what the likes of Birmingham have done. They got 3 quality Arsenal youngsters and have managed to sign one already and have a shot at Muamba. Bentdners market value has goen up this season and he already thinks he should be in Arsenals first team (I dunno about that one!) but we should have one eye on being able to sign some of these incoming loanees a season down the line if good enough. Lets see who Dowie has signed on a season long loan as he recently came out to say he has landed a big one for next season the git! We need Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal class squad players here and we should steer well clear of the likes of Yeates and Glombard, even in case of an emergency. I`d rather sling the kids in instead of those types of donkeys.

I also think that Merida from Arsenal and Carroll from Newcastle are worth persuing.

For all you know they might hate each others guts, unless you're a relative or close friend of one of them.
