Bocadillo on TB says it's a done deal!!

Sweet

Well I'm certainly not going to argue with a Spanish sandwich.

I'm on the gate mate, really need a piss and you go and spring that on me. What shall I tell my mrs? Lent my kegs to a tramp and he's pissed them?

Nah, chuck 'em over her head as soon as she opens the door and then run off down the street giggling.

Written in stone then really. Boc hates inaccuracies of any sort and I'm sure that would apply to himself as much as anyone else. :D

If he signs, he will be the first player i'm genuinely very pleased that we've signed.

I think he could be absolute quality at this level. No doubt he'll turn out to be an absolute shit box, but for now i'm savouring the feeling of football contemptment.

This is really disappointing, he's absolute kak!! Just look at his record for heavens sake, Boro' couldn't wait to get rid of him on loan until the end of his contract. He's also just been relagated in a very poor side in which he wasn't even a regular starter. There have been some rumours on some sites that Fryatt might be sold which would also be very disappointing. Fryatt has shown enough to show that he can develop into a very decent player and he's still very young, this clown is too old to learn new tricks! I'm ok with Cort having a chance and Todorov would be a great signing but Job no way. If Fryatt goes to accomodate this waste of space then I would have to question what Mandaric's up to and his motives. I'd sooner trust the new boy Sappleton or one of our youth players than Badjob!

Cheers

Surely we can feature in those Wickes adverts now, perhaps have the lad in his overalls mowing the Walkers turf and trailing a streamer.... Just the JOB. :)

He probably spent a lot of time moralising and growing a beard but not doing much else.

Not my favourite topic, but didn't he write a book in the Old Testicle Testament??

I don't think Jesus ever let on to Job(e) about the water to wine trick, do my interest in him doesn't stretch very far to be honest.

Good point.

It should also be pointed out that I think he was also a spy / baddie in Mission: Impossible.

Which might be better than the water & wine thing.

City close in on striker signing

Leicester City are closing in on their next signing - striker Joseph-Desire Job from French club Sedan.

The Cameroon international would be City's eighth newcomer since Martin Allen took over as manager.

And, confirming City's interest in Job, chairman Milan Mandaric revealed that there could still be “four or five'' more newcomers to follow.

Mandaric said of the Job deal: “We are working on this. We have made an offer to him and we hope we can sort it out in the next two or three days.

“He is just the sort of striker we have been looking for. He is strong physically, and he knows English football well from his time at Middlesbrough.

“He has experience of football in the Premiership which is where we are trying to lift this club back up to.''

The 29-year-old Job has won 46 international caps for Cameroon, for whom he has scored six goals. He joined Middlesbrough in 2000 when the Teessiders paid Lens £3million for him. He left the Riverside last year, joining Sedan on a free transfer.

He scored 22 goals in 112 appearances (37 as a substitute) for Boro and had loan spells at FC Metz and Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad. He has been in discussions with City after Sedan were relegated from Ligue 1 last month.

The City squad return tomorrow for pre-season training with seven new faces already secured and Job would be far from the last if City have their way.

Mandaric said: “It is a lot of work when you are completely rebuilding. From what I saw towards the end of last season, I was not impressed, and it needed more than just one or two new players to put it right. Job would give us the striker we need.

"All departments still need strengthening, so there could be four or five new players still to arrive. You have to do what you have to do and I am going to turn every which way I can to give the supporters a reason to be positive and to make up for all their previous disappointments.''

I've no idea how Job's playing these days so you might be right on that score.

But what has Fryatt ever shown at Leicester to suggest he's in any way special?.

I wish it was otherwise and am happy to let him have another go in the close season because he is young and he is still learning and you do need patience with young players.

But Allen rightly thinks we need at least one big, strong striker and that won't be Fryatt, for sure.

Which means that he'll almost certainly be fighting for one space against Hume and anyone else we sign or anyone else in the club who makes an impression including the much mocked Dodds who had a far better pre-season last year than Fryatt did.

Nothing is certain but with more signings imminent it all points to Fryatt being on the bench at best.

Fryatt won't want that at his age and MA will have to weigh up whether Fryatt has enough qualities to make him a realistic prospect for success in the Championship or whether he should move him along if the chance arises.

With Fryatt's limitations (lack of aerial power, raw pace, brute strength, long range shooting ability, near post qualities etc) and with the injury problems he's had, it's hard to imagine Allen won't prefer alternative options.

Even at this late hour I'd be delighted if Fryatt proves me wrong but the signs don't look hopeful.

Pre-season means very little and is just an exercise to build player's match fitness. I remember last pre-season COG and Elvis looked like Thierry Henry and Wayne Rooney.

F- This is to do with Robbie Fowler and his nose strips.....it's apparently the deal breaker.

I hope this clears up the book of Job.

It meant enough for Fryatt. He did next to nothing in both and was demonstrably worse than Hammond.

I do understand what you mean Thracian and can see why you come to those conclusions. I thought Fryatt was out of sorts last year but put a lot down to injury and subsequent lack of match fitness. When compared with someone like Elvis however I thought he had very good touch and control. I think that we haven't seen the best in him due in the main to our poor midfield who would continue to lump the ball up in the air to him. This was no good as you rightly say he's not a big hefty chap and I also agree that he's not got blistering pace to run down the channals etc. However, there are players like Sherringham who arn't like that either (not that you can compare him to him yet). I do think however he will develop into a clever more cultured palyer like a Sherringham type though. Neither will he look at first glance as good as the industrious and very promising Hume. He does appear to be intelligent and take up good positions but our midfield were never on his wave length. I just think that I'd rather stick with him or give Dodds or others a chance rather than waste wages on Job. Cheers Thracian.
