From a secularist perspective this is beginning to look like a cack handed bunch of signings by any stretch of the imagination. Divine intervention could be the only solution.

I shall refer to JDJ as Bobba from now on. That's one shilling more than the "8" cost in sum total.

The word bleak springs to mind and another relegation battle looks on the cards. Rejoice!

Everyone knew when Milan took over at this club that he would not be spending massive amounts of money on transfer fees. It is far more important that he contributes towards wages. I also don't subscibe to your view that our signings have been 'cack handed' I just think your estimations of who we were going to sign are unrealistic. Did you think we would be competing for world class players?

Can't believe how out of touch with reality some people are. If we sign this bloke and perhaps Todorov I will be happy with our forwards going into the season.

Sunderland went up with ****ing Stern John playing for them. Hell Akinbadbuy is a good player in this league.

I also don't buy into the notion the we are no better than we were:

Neilsen - we have brought in a bit of experience. I haven't seen him play but he has been ever present in his last team since he joined them. Can they be that wrong?

Chambers - experienced promotion on a number of occassions and will do a solid defensive job.

N'Gotty - Promoted last year with Brum. A good quality signing.

Kisnorbo - We know what he is all about.

IMO one player short of a bloody good defence

Kishishev - Better than any midfielder we have had for years with plenty of premier league experience.

Hellings - I don't know anything about him but i have seen Stephen Hughes play and know he can not be anywhere close to that ****ing bad.

Mattock - should for me be starting the lad is class.

Admittedly we do need more in the midfield but we have added to it with Kish and he should do a good job.

I'm not going to go through all of the strikers. But needless to say if we signed Job he would be better than ELvis and probably Fryatt. You only need to score 4 goals in the season to beat Fryatts efforts this year. Cort may well do well and we know what we will get from Hume.

It isn't a playoff team YET I will admit but it IS a better team than last year.

If we are in a relegation battle next year I will give you £100. I will be about on these forums and make good on my promise. I am that confident that you are talking out of your rear end.

Oh and RN on TB says a few 'big names' may be on their way.

Yes, I thought we would be bidding for "world class players."

Therefore, I am greatly disappoi ted at not getting:

Torres

Da Silva

Messi

et al

I just wanted to see a little bit more of the "passing footballer". Cort and Jobba smack of hoof it and see, a la Allen's Macdons stsyle last season. It's all starting to look a bit long ball to me. Stephen Clemence would have calmed my nerves, but it's obvious we won't be getting him.

Very generous. Please make cheque payable to the "RSPCA" my charity of choice.

If you are right I will.

I might even if you are wrong...good charity.

Top bloke. Nice one. :worship:

Of course, I hope I am wrong and probably will be...........

I do understand what you mean Thracian and can see why you come to those conclusions. I thought Fryatt was out of sorts last year but put a lot down to injury and subsequent lack of match fitness. When compared with someone like Elvis however I thought he had very good touch and control. I think that we haven't seen the best in him due in the main to our poor midfield who would continue to lump the ball up in the air to him. This was no good as you rightly say he's not a big hefty chap and I also agree that he's not got blistering pace to run down the channals etc. However, there are players like Sherringham who arn't like that either (not that you can compare him to him yet). I do think however he will develop into a clever more cultured palyer like a Sherringham type though. Neither will he look at first glance as good as the industrious and very promising Hume. He does appear to be intelligent and take up good positions but our midfield were never on his wave length. I just think that I'd rather stick with him or give Dodds or others a chance rather than waste wages on Job. Cheers Thracian.

I cannot comment on Job because I've not seen him lately and can only concede that you may well be right.

And I wish I could share your view of Fryatt as a developing Sheringham.

But there aren't many Sheringhams.

Sheringham reads and sees situations so well and is so good at involving team-mates or anticipating their actions.

I don't think Fryatt is a very good team player at all. Several times last season I referred to people running into good positions only for Fryatt to ignore them or fail to deliver the pass needed.

Yes he's still young. He may improve this aspect as his confidence grows. But it's not there now and it's hard to write qualities down that he does have in respect of a Championship level striker.

Eye for goal. Goodish close control. What else?. The cunning passes and clever runs of Sheringham? Certainly not yet,

I stress that I hope I'm wrong but Fryatt seems too short of assets for my taste.

Whether Job has any assets as a footballer these days is another matter entirely. Perhaps Manwell or someone else can update us.

They will do better...but don't judge until the team has been put together. You wouldn't say a work of art was shite before the painter had finished it.

I share your fears and for both our sakes i'm glad this is tucked away in transfer talk because there is sure to be backlash from those who insist on relentless optimism instead of looking at different perspectives.

Either way, good discussion from different points of view which is what football and decent forums are about. Thanks.

Actually, if it was Tracy Emin, I would.

This is really disappointing, he's absolute kak!! Just look at his record for heavens sake, Boro' couldn't wait to get rid of him on loan until the end of his contract. He's also just been relagated in a very poor side in which he wasn't even a regular starter. There have been some rumours on some sites that Fryatt might be sold which would also be very disappointing. Fryatt has shown enough to show that he can develop into a very decent player and he's still very young, this clown is too old to learn new tricks! I'm ok with Cort having a chance and Todorov would be a great signing but Job no way. If Fryatt goes to accomodate this waste of space then I would have to question what Mandaric's up to and his motives. I'd sooner trust the new boy Sappleton or one of our youth players than Badjob!

Cheers

I don't mind people having opinions, but you've been sold a duff one pal.

Job averaged a goal every 2 games in the top league in France last season (a better level than the league we are in) his goals to games ratio was as good as Pauleta's. Job has played 46 times for a half decent national team and when played up front for Middlesborough he did very well at times.

Give the lad a chance, just like you want everyone to give Fryatt another chance. I'm with you on that one. We need 4 competitive strikers for next season, so i'm sure Fryatt, Cort, Job and Hume will all have chances to prove their worth and rightly so.

Job is capable of 15+ goals next season. Can't see many teams fancying playing against him. I recall him taking Man United's back four to pieces a few seasons ago.

I reckon a Cort-Job-Hume combo will bring goals. That with a couple of decent midfielders and i'll be happy. Depending where we are at christmas, MM might fork out/strengthen come January. If we get kaebi + clemence, we'll be fine.

top post! we need to give all of our signings a chance, and not slag them off before theyve even signed!
