Fryatt Rumours ?

I'd like fatty to stay, his likely replacement would be Mcleod and I think it's as big a gamble keeping Matty as it is getting Mcleod.

I've heard from someone at Leicester that Fryatt won't be leaving as it stands.

Don't know when that was but the "as it stands" suggests he won't leave unless the price goes up.

If it's now gone up - perhaps to the £1.4m mentioned - I'm sure City would sell and reinvest.

Just me and Master Fox on the Fryatt Out bandwagon now then.

Nah Thracians still on it. He's just trying to fence sit to protect himself from a possible blacklash if he gets this horribley wrong. Which he suspects could happen hence the way he's acting.

Fryatt actually wants to stay and Allen is happy for him to stay as he rates him.

Is that a Daily Mail thing?

There's no fence sitting nor inconsistency.

If I were manager and could get £1.4m for Fryatt I would sell him.

If he's not sold and MA gets him back to top form I'll be pleased.

Anything unclear about that?

I can understand the backtracking as I'm about to go on some myself to a certain extent. My issue with Fryatt isn't exactly that I don't rate him as a player, it's more about his qualities and the style of football involved. In a team that plays to his strengths I'm sure he'd be a decent goalscorer. I just find it frustrating at a game like Barnsley away last season when he must have been offside about 5 or 6 times and the times that he does get through, he gets beaten for pace almost every time. Of course their disabled of a defender meant that he actually scored in that game so bad example perhaps. Good goal at Fulham as well last season which not many people are using to support his claims, just the Derby goal.

As long as he's fit, bothered and we have enough pace and energy around him that it doesn't matter how lethargic he is for 85 minutes, then we'll be okay with him. Otherwise, I'd rather get rid. And that's a lot to ask.

Next season when Fryatt trots out with his bulging gut and starts scuffing shots, misplacing passes, getting nudged off the ball, people will be complaining we should have sold him when we had the chance but we’ll be able to smugly say ‘told you so’

So basically if we sell him your happy.

If we keep him and he plays well your happy.

Nothing unclear to me it just seems you covering your back. Maybe not coming out with the, Matty Fryatt wont ever score consistently at this level as he doesn't have enough about his game comments as much eh.

No, if he plays well he's back to his best and you said he would be good if MA got him back to his best, but if he doesn't then you did always say we should of sold Fryatt and you did always say he wasn't good enough.

Back covered, fence sat on, safe opinion.

And when DJ does the same, Manwell, myself and a few others will be saying the same thing.

DJ has the ability to score goals frequently for the team, Fryatt doesn't.

When the offer for wolves came in, MA said the offer was nowhere high enough. Keep him? Yes no doubt, better than Mifsud.

Fryatt does have the ability.

It's whether or not he can this season or even wants to. I want him to stay and prove a lot of people wrong. Clubs offering money not too short of what we paid for DJ suggests he has the ability in some people's view.

And I was only throwing a wind-up in,MF.

Haha, thats your opinion, and as your opinion is normally made up of snap fickled judgements, unreasoned arguements that change like the wind without consideration of players form or circumstance I wouldn't be to sure of it.

I don't need to cover my back. It is not my decision.

For a long time now he would never have been my choice as a first choice striker for all the many reasons I've mentioned over that time.

But that doesn't mean I'd wish him ill if he stayed and wouldn't cheer him if he started scoring and impressing generally.

It's MA's decision. If he sells him, fine by me, if not and he fails to respond, I cannot see MA putting him in the team anyway.

I wouldn't really care if he did go, so I'm running behind the bandwagon not actually on it.

I wanted him to go if it meant funding the DJ move, if we can have both I gladly will. Should Allen decide he can get someone better though then so be it.

No obviously, none of us want to see our players play badly. I'm meerley saying that you've had plenty of bad things to say about him, and despite what you say you do need to cover your back, as to me it seems your worried about losing face on here, for some odd reason, hence the little "if he gets back to his best he'll score goals" comments.

For once I think you're being a bit harsh on Thrac.

The guy on TB who reckons he has contacts says

"I heard from a BBC East Anglia journo late last night, that Norwich put a bid in for Fryatt at the end of last week - "matching the PNE deal" - so I assume also £1.5m or thereabouts. City have accepted both and it's up to Fryatt himself to decide, "if he wants to go" - and if so, where. The journalist had heard that Fryatt was keen to leave City at the beginning of last week, but a 'clear the air' meeting with Martin Allen on Friday (when he was assured that he would be a "key player in MA's plans, if he stayed"), has meant he's had second thoughts and now is INCLINED to remain with City."

"I've just spoken again to my journo colleague in Norwich, who told me he had contacted Leicester at the weekend (he had spoken directly to Tim Davies apparently !) and been told that, "the club were not sure that they would get any better quality for the money (the £1.5 m they would have to 'stump up' for McLeod, would be the same as they'd get for Fryatt) - and, in any case, we're in talks now with another very experienced striker who's likely to come in on a 'free'". When pressed on the 'experienced striker', he said "well, he used to play for Man United" ! [Cole or Yorke ?!]"

I've never had doubts that a fit Fryatt would score goals from time to time.

My doubts concern whether Fryatt can stay fit, what he contributes when he's not scoring, the fairly glaring limits to his ability and whether he is sufficiently committed to the club.

This guy on TB's clearly a wind-up merchant. I can't believe our chief exec would be dishing out our transfer plans to some random journalist hack from Norwich. What a load of balls.

I was thinking the same!!

This bloke is in it for laughs.
