Master Fox Posted 28 July 2007 Posted 28 July 2007 Matty Fryatt is going nowhere Allen pointed out who he wants to keep by giving the players he wants to stay squad numbers du du du du MATTY FRYATT I hate that chant
Ozwin Posted 28 July 2007 Posted 28 July 2007 The lad is going to produce goals this year. There won't be any need to discuss his potential because he will be fulfilling it. This. He'll come through under MA, to be fair there hasn't been much motivation running through his veins the past through seasons anyway. Martin Allen will shake him until he produces, he's totally the right manager to get players performing. And it's about time too.
teblin Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Someone on TB cliams that Allen is still not impressed and fryatt is off to watford.
Flynny Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Someone on TB cliams that Allen is still not impressed and fryatt is off to watford. Got a link?
Joe. Posted 29 July 2007 Posted 29 July 2007 Someone on TB cliams that Allen is still not impressed and fryatt is off to watford. Don't believe a word of that. Allen wouldn't tell a journalist that Fryatt never looked like scoring and never does.
Chrysalis Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 What ridicules the claim though, is a very, I think, genuine and somewhat obvious question: "How do you know he isn't?"Putting Matty Fryatt's fitness aside, because that's become a worn out cliché (though I'll defend it to the last), how many goals do you believe RVNistelrooy, Greaves or, hey, the man Tony Cottee would have scored for us last season? Bare any, to be honest. Goals we scored last year came from scrappy individual efforts, luck, Kisnorbo's head and a few blinders from Hume. Alright, RVN has bags more quality than... well, nearly everyone, but he'd still have struggled in such a terrible side. When you've got a player like that you need a team that can supply them constructive opportunities to finish. And we're all hoping and praying that some of our new midfield signings will do that. The fact of the matter is we're not really going to know what the boy can really achieve until the season begins and he runs out fully fit, raring to go and surrounded by competent footballers. I guess that's what's a little worrying about it. But I'd much, much, MUCH rather see players we KNOW are effectively useless (MDV, Hammond, Hughes, etc) be shown the exit before the we fobb Fryatt off for £1.5m that I don't think anyone's entirely convinced we need. Note hammond useless acording to yourself scored more goals then fryatt last season, and would we have stayed up without hammonds goals? MDV I think has a superior goals ratio in this division then fryatt as well.

MDV I think has a superior goals ratio in this division then fryatt as well. That might be because MF didn't play much Elvis played more games so his odds of scoring more are higher. Now I am not sure, but if..IF MDV has a better goals/games ratio, would we not have kept him under Kelly, despite his (also) superior wages??

Geo V Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 Lets hope this season will see MF playing with confidence in a better team and he stays injury free so we can see the best of him. The fact that we still rate him alongside the likes of MDV and Elvis is systematic to his current under-achievement for us thus far but any one with half a footballing brain can see that the lad has ability and its only a matter of time before it clicks into gear. The fact that other Championship clubs want the lad despite his below par season says plenty of how highly he is regarded. MDV and Elvis on the other hand wouldn't be able to find another club at this level and would struggle at League 1. The best is still to come from MF and lets hope it happens this season.

davieG Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 Sounds like a right mardy bum Only someones opinion but well respected on the Fox Fanzine board Posted by Bruin: Too right Bab (Babylon). I, more than anyone wanted him to pull trees up here because he's a Nuneaton lad, and in Nuneaton we are fiercely loyal. It's just the way we are brought up. MF cooked his goose last season when he got his arse in his hand about not being released from his contract and allowed to leave for Brum. He has let me down big time with his never say care attitude toward those who pay his wages, or whom habilitate him without ever asking for reward. He especially pissed me off playing the big time tvvat when asked if he would go to the LCFC staff party, and replied that he only mixed with the players; the other staff being inconsequential. I feel he could have been a big talent, but he's already signed terms with the biggest club that will accommodate that atitude. The only way from now I fear is downwards. Big shame, but there it is. BLUE ARMY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thracian Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 Sounds like a right mardy bum Only someones opinion but well respected on the Fox Fanzine board Posted by Bruin: That Blue Army comment is significant. I've no idea whether MF will suddenly rediscover his sparkle and his scoring touch should he move elsewhere but he'll be taking himself with him and while it might happen for a while I'm not convinced the guy's limitations wouldn't show through again soon enough. Whatever, the question is will he do it for us?. He's looked fit enough and nicked a well-worked goal against Notts County but generally I'm not convinced his heart is here at all. That, combined with his lack of goals makes me feel that the best solution for both parties is a parting of the ways. And if he starts with a few goals elsewhere folk will say "told you so" and "we should have kept him". I can handle that although I've never said he's a lousy player as such. Only that he has limitations for a striker which will be important the higher he goes. And what matters to me is how he performs here, not elsewhere. I've never known fans to be so willing to ignore the facts in defence of a player but the truth is he's done too little for too long. We don't need a striker who might score. We need a striker who will.

We need a striker who will. Why would he not want to play for a club where he is considered a fan's favourite (as shown by many people's desire to keep him in this thread alone)? Alot of people point to Fraytt's goals to games ratio whilst criticising the player (despite the fact that he has barely been 100% during most of them), but the fact is that he does much more. He holds the ball up and waits for support from the midfield and other strikers. Unfortunately this talent was wasted last season when our squad was so defensively minded it was unbelievable, Hume was incapable of finding space because so many men man-marked him, and our wide players were about as sharp as a blunt pencil. I know that you've acknowledged that Fryatt deserves time to prove himself this season, but please wait until the proper season begins before the tirade of criticism begins to rain down on him.
Chrysalis Posted 30 July 2007 Posted 30 July 2007 I hope for our sake he does well this season if he stays, but it is upsetting that people are calling some of our other strikers useless when the solid facts remain that they have performed better then fryatt at our club. Potential means nothing to me performance means everything.

One or two posters have expressed views on why his heart might not be at Leicester (chance of a move elsewhere etc) and the fact that Fryatt has always said he wants to play in the Premiership may be connected to those opinions.

I would hope that he has a decent chance of getting into the Premiership with MM at the healm. The team we are assembling looks far better than anything we have had recently. We are being rated highly by the bookies and rightly so. Who has a better chance of going up: Watford - should have a good chance Sheff Utd - Might have a chance if they get over the Tevez saga. Dont rate Robson or his tactics so they will be at a disadvantage. Charlton - have sold a lot of quality and will miss Bent badly. Still a strong squad. Should feature. Wolves - Bought well, should do well WBA - Sold to many key players and havent replaced, mid table finish Southampton - Same as WBA, too many money worries and disputes in the board room - I expect chaos. Cardiff - Depends on how Robbie does, if he is injured they are buggered!! Colchester are a spent force, Preston are without a striker. So who is left to challenge for a top spot. I think for once things are going well for us and not so well for many of the other strong teams with the exception of Wolves. Fryatt isnt likely to get a premiership team come in for him on the back of last seasons performance. So I think we are his best chance unless Wolves really do want him - but that all seems to have gone a bit quiet now they have made a few signings.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 31 July 2007 Posted 31 July 2007 The sooner we get rid, the better IMO. Hopefully McLeod will be in and Fryatt will be out by the end of the week.
TheBlinding Posted 31 July 2007 Posted 31 July 2007 The thing with Fryatt is I don't know who he'd play well with. Fryatt + Hume - No Height Fryatt + DJ - No Height Fryatt + Cort - No Pace Fryatt + De Vries - No Pace
