dandannieldanok Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 The guy on TB who reckons he has contacts says"I heard from a BBC East Anglia journo late last night, that Norwich put a bid in for Fryatt at the end of last week - "matching the PNE deal" - so I assume also £1.5m or thereabouts. City have accepted both and it's up to Fryatt himself to decide, "if he wants to go" - and if so, where. The journalist had heard that Fryatt was keen to leave City at the beginning of last week, but a 'clear the air' meeting with Martin Allen on Friday (when he was assured that he would be a "key player in MA's plans, if he stayed"), has meant he's had second thoughts and now is INCLINED to remain with City." "I've just spoken again to my journo colleague in Norwich, who told me he had contacted Leicester at the weekend (he had spoken directly to Tim Davies apparently !) and been told that, "the club were not sure that they would get any better quality for the money (the £1.5 m they would have to 'stump up' for McLeod, would be the same as they'd get for Fryatt) - and, in any case, we're in talks now with another very experienced striker who's likely to come in on a 'free'". When pressed on the 'experienced striker', he said "well, he used to play for Man United" ! [Cole or Yorke ?!]" Is the same one who informed us about a £3m deal for Mattock and Stearman to Villa or a different joker?
jonw88 Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 On sky sports it now says that Preston have confirmed a deal for a striker who is "unnamed" so far but is hoping to sign him before they go on tour to the US.. could it be Fryatt? Could be Andy Cole if those rumours are true and it is an ex-Manchester United player? If they're paying £1.5 million or so then may as well sell him, and bring in McCleod as the big centre forward we really need!

mancunianfox Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Follow up from Outfox on Talking Balls My BBC Norwich contact is really 'pursuing' this story - his Editor was very keen on getting 'an exclusive' on Fryatt going to the Canaries ! He told me, he has now (this morning) spoken to Fryatt's Agent, who said:- "Matty was all for leaving Leicester at the end of last week; he felt neglected by Martin Allen and was disappointed that Allen was looking at alternatives, despite having had only one friendly match to judge. On Wednesday, Matty was told he would be in a 'Reserves' team, along with transfer listed, 'unfit' and youth team players. He was also told that 2 clubs had put bids in for him, which Leicester had provisionally accepted and he immediately set up a meeting with Martin Allen, to discuss his future. After 2 hours of 'frank and open' talks, Matty did feel he had a future with Leicester; Allen told him he felt that Matty was "as good, if not better than any player he had been looking at, was a proven goalscorer at this level and had been very impressed with his attitude in training" - and left the final decision with him. Matty considered his position over the weekend - but, after a long phone call from Allen on Sunday and with confirmation that he would be in the squad to travel to Scotland, finally decided to stay with Leicester. Martin Allen has been told and has communicated that to the 2 clubs interested in him". Fascinating stuff ?!
Thracian Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Follow up from Outfox on Talking Balls Basically Fowler didn't sign and was a costly risk anyway, McLeod was no more guaranteed to be a success than Fryatt, other appealing options were limited, welcome back to the fold. Well, he's always said he wants to play in the Premiership. He won't get a better chance to make it happen.
Master Fox Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 If we can flog Fryatt for £1.5m then that’s brilliant.
woznotwos Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 How much of that will go to Walsall though !! i'd rather be keeping him , hes still young and isnt reliant on any pace for his game,he will only improve.

[Cole or Yorke ?!]" I am inclined to agree that letting Fryatt go and bringing in McLeod is at best a straight swop and would do nothing to improve the team. Fryatt is already here and knows the set up and has played at this level for a while so I would prefer to keep him over bringing in someone new. Cole or Yorke - no thanks. I rather we look for someone younger would will be an asset to the team not someone who is after the final pay check.
mancunianfox Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Dont sell him. NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU Don't worry. The main source of info behind the Fryatt rumours reckons his staying.
Daggers Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Just me and Master Fox on the Fryatt Out bandwagon now then. I'll wave as you go by but I don't want to get on yet. If we were linked with someone I could get excited about to replace him then maybe...but McLeod can **** off and die for all I care, the over-priced pile of wank that he is.
Milky Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Preston have had a bid accepted for an unnamed player and Paul Simpson is hopeful of completing the deal. Skysports.com revealed last week that Simpson was targeting Darius Henderson, and it is understood the Watford striker is the mystery man. Perhaps Preston have dropped any interest they may have had in Fryatt.
Bluefoxtim Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 How many strikers do we need? Should be..."How many GOOD strikers do we need?" And we haven't got many
Thracian Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Should be..."How many GOOD strikers do we need?" And we haven't got many What's considered a good striker these days?. I reckoned 18 goals a season but that was considered imbecilic. Some said Horsfield was a good striker when he arrived - presumably using the same principles for selection that were applied to Fryatt last season! Have the rules changed now? Or are we still going with some being more equal than others? MDV's 41 goals in 151 matches gets him a shit rating by many so does anyone have a definition of a good striker that makes some sense.
Lamby Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Well your hopes of getting McLeod are fading as Charlton have had a £1.5million bid accepted and are talking with the player. Now to get rid of lazy arse Marcus Bent.
Kent Fox Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 Well your hopes of getting McLeod are fading as Charlton have had a £1.5million bid accepted and are talking with the player. Now to get rid of lazy arse Marcus Bent. For that money, you're welcome to him. He ain't worth it IMO. I'll look forward to laughing at him when you boys play the Gills soon, if you have him by then.

I wish i could go to Gills but im going away for a week on that day.

kidder_wolf Posted 23 July 2007 Posted 23 July 2007 I said a few days ago that the foxes have over paid for DJ campbell but if you can get over a million for fryatt then thats a great bit a business in my eyes. Im glad we didnt not sign fryatt in the end and went for Elliott instead. as for Mcleod how can charlton spend £1.5m on him he is useless and we were quoted 600k for him a year ago and we backed out of the deal. I bet Charlton are gutted that they missed out on Eastwood and are having to try and sign league two players who no one else really wants to buy. this guy has been sent off more times than carl cort has had injuries
