Fryatt Rumours ?

Quicker than most.........what ? over 65's ?

Let's be honest Matty is hardly quick is he !

No doubt his flat feet play their part.

You've probably touched there on why I doubt he'll satisfy Martin Allen.

He might well be described as nothing but a poacher but, sadly, he's nothing like as fast as the players you've compared him too.

I was at Oadby too, standing near the dugout.

Allen was full of praise for Matty actually, kept shouting things like "Quality Mattty", also he did a great piece of skill in the second half flicking the ball over the defender then shooting on target and Allen and the other blokes were apllauding like mad!

Read what you like into that but i personally beleive that Allen rates him highly.

If we get offered 1.5 million for Fryatt he has to go. If he goes away and gets 15-20 goals... oh well, we got good money for him. If he goes away and scores about 5 all season, we'll have done good business.

With the people we're signing at the moment, Fryatt might find it difficult to get a game this season. We won't get offered 1.5 million for him again, or anything like that amount.

I really wanted to see Fryatt given a chance this season, but with the competition we have upfront now he's going to have a real battle on his hands, least of all keeping himself fit. I'd be dissapointed to see him go to be honest but it's hard to see where he'll fit in, especially if we are looking to bring in another striker. It could be curtains, if so £1.5 million would be a decent fee

Didn't he manage something like a megre 4 goals last season.

I think you are dreaming. He needs to produce something to justify a tag like that

Preston need a striker and he scored today.:unsure:

I didn't see any signs of that at Oadby where he missed far easier opportunities.

Absolutely spot on, 100%. Fryatt will start the season in Preston's first team, and end it in Preston's reserves. He will become their equivalent of Adi Akinbye - a big money buy for a club like that but a guy who couldn't score in a brothel. One difference... at least Ade tried, which Matty ceased doing a long time ago. Goodbye to a neverwas who neverwillbe.

Fryatt is still an asset to Leicester. For all your promotion of youth he is not even 22, with a season full of injuries, he will improve with more pre-season games and I'm pretty sure he'll score 9 to 12 goals next season. Lets not forget that he's already scored more than Hammond in pre-season (who note I still regard as useful given his speed, but only as a sub.)

Don't talk such bo!!ocks

I really hate the way people slag off our own players. Especially good ones who people seem to have down on over the close season (don't remember anything like this level of abuse for Fryatt even when he was struggling during the season).

And there is and never can be any comparison between Akinbiyi and Fryatt.

Finally coudn't score in a brothel???? If it wasn't for Fryatt's goals at the end of the 05/06 season we'd be a struggling league 2 side by now and certainly wouldn't have got Mandaric so show some respect. Just because he struggled with injury and lacked fitness for one season aged 21 doesn't take away the quality he showed then.

Yea right, I cant believe all this criticism going to Matty... selling him would be stupid. If he scores 15 goals + I want all the ppl in this thread to personally apologise to the lad...

I dont think it would be fair to Matty to give up a couple of weeks of his life to listen to all those apologies!!

Matty not only should stay he should be pushing for a start when he is fit he will get the goals. Strike force of DJ, Matty & Hume 2 from 3 with back up of Sappleton, De Vries and numerous youngsters the futures bright the futures blue.

I'm prepared to give over fifteen minutes of my time for him to apologise for not giving a **** last season, letting himself get unfit and failing to make any kind of impact - he can carry on to make some kind of donation to charity to make up for the money we put in his pocket for nothing - let's start with that apology and see where we go from there...

Bo!!ocks.

DJ was playing none league for a reason. But for two goals in a high profile FA cup game he'd probably still be a Brentford.

Fryatt has quality, one unfit and injury ravaged season does not take that away. I would much, much, much, much rather have Fryatt than DJ (and Fowler than both).

Milan will only invest a finitie amount of money into the club, it's still important that he spends it in the right way. £2m for DJ is £2m that isn't being spent somewhere else (fees, wages, backroom, training, etc).

Fryatt was injuured a lot the year he signed as well and was actually injured when he joined, so bearing that in mind more then half his time with us he has been injured?

1.5mill for a injury prone player, yes please.

The Fryatt arguement is getting boring now.

In a nutshell.

Hes partially gifted but he can't be arsed to play for Leicester and the only reason he's looking decent in Pre-season is to get himself in the shop window.

I would agree with that.

I'd take 1.5 Million for him and I think anyone who wouldn't to be a little foolish, 1.5 million is a hell of a lot of money and if used correctly could get you a player superior to Fryatt, maybe they wouldn't have the potential but potenital is rarely fully furfilled in this sport.

I was his biggest critic last season because he was shoite!

I'm hoping this season he knuckles down and bags a starting line up spot.

Fryatt has the ability and if we see it next season he could be worth double what we paid for DJ.

1.5 million is the new 500,000

where the hell has all this "he doesn't want to play for us" come from, i've seen and heard nothing to suggest this

That's a bold statement. Hope you're right though.

I feel the lads got something, and I know he's had chances to prove it, but he is young. I'd be very sad to see him leave.

Find it odd that so many people are ready to jump to MF's defence and say he should be given a chance despite his recent history ...and yet write off Cort for his.

Well I've just read this which, if true, means it's not looking good for the Fryatt fans.

From "Outfox The Fox" Talking Balls:

Word from colleagues in Lancashire is that the Fryatt deal is all set up. Preston have agreed a fee of £1.4m (plus a few 'add-ons') and Matty has had preliminary talks about the contract. He's already to go -and quite keen by all accounts. Simpson has 'pencilled in' a Press Conference on Monday or Tuesday.

As for McLeod, City are still in the picture - he is more keen to come to Leicester than Charlton, but Mandaric still hasn't matched Charlton's £1.5m. The Dons' Chairman told his Admin people that Leicester were waiting on "another striker deal coming off" - one coming IN apparently.

personally i think if corts fit he'll score plenty of goals, but it seems like thats an increasingly big if

Im going to say it how it is.

At the back end of the season before last Matty got service and on the back of that Matty and Iain formed a partership that got goals (im sure our scoring rate for the last 8-10 matches was in line with the promotion pushing teams).

Im not going to go into the shortfalls of last season and the reasons for that, but in summary we were unfit and all playing below par. When one is low in stamina and lacking physical strenhth one is more injury prone.

With an improved level of fitness within the squad this season, coupled with decent service i think Matty Fryatt can be a valuable member of a succesfull squad/football club at this level.

I am hoping he will be the elusive 6 yard box striker we will need to call on this season. No blood no thunder just be in the right place at the right time.
