Thracian Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 One of the things that strikes me is that his kids might want to be by the coast. Doesn't he know that the tide's coming in and Leicestershire will be by the coast soon! In fact Uppingham will offer the first higher ground and there's a great school in Uppingham! Hell we've got to use our imagination!
Joe. Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 I would be like :w00t: if we got Fowler. There's no doubt in my mind he'd be a fantastic signing and he'd be worth the high wages in my opinion. Something does tell me that he'll go abroad though....

If we miss out on him, I really hope this is the reason why. The nancy boy! His kids are very, very young. I'm sure Fowler calls the shots still.
Maybes Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ity/6281850.stm]Linky Linky://http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...stm]://http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...1/hi/foo...stm] Leicester have joined the race to sign former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler and have been in touch with the 32-year-old's representatives. "We'd be right for someone looking for the right challenge," chairman Milan Mandaric told the Leicester Mercury. "Our rebuilding is not completed yet. We are still looking for more power up front and Fowler could give us that." But Leicester face competition for the former England international from Cardiff and Australian side Sydney FC. "I have been talking with his representatives and we know there is competition for him but it is not always about money," added Mandaric. Fowler is a free agent after being released by Liverpool and has been in Sydney to discuss a move down under. The player said: "I spoke to Sydney's chief executive George Perry, and obviously I'm very interested. "I've got a young family, so basically I'm over here to see what it's like and see if it's good for them and then I'll go and report back and see how they feel." Cardiff are also waiting to discover if Fowler can be tempted into a move into the Championship. Bluebirds chairman Peter Ridsdale was quoted on Liverpool's website as saying: "We have offered an attractive package and are hopeful Robbie will decide to come." Fowler's adviser George Scott said Cardiff could be an option for Fowler. He said: "I think Cardiff, if they have the ambition, is the sort of place Robbie would thrive at." Fowler is likely to be taking a big wage cut if he moves to Cardiff, unless the Bluebirds shattered their wage structure - which is unlikely given the financial constraints caused by building a new stadium at Leckwith. The alternative would be to put together a huge sponsorship package. Ridsdale, who said he was surprised to hear that comments attributed to him had appeared on Liverpool's website, told BBC Sport Wales: "There's been a lot of press speculation. "Obviously I know Robbie from his days at Leeds and he's an outstanding finisher and outstanding footballer. "Were we ever in a position where we could attract him, I think our supporters would realise our talk of ambition is more than just talk. "If and when we're in a position to announce the arrival of a player of that stature we will do so, but in the meantime I don't like talking about speculation." Major League Soccer side New England Revolution were also courting Fowler, who won 26 caps for England and scored seven goals. But Revolution manager Steve Nicol has ruled out the possibility of bringing his former Liverpool team-mate to America. Nicol said: "Robbie is a great player but we have ruled out signing him for now and won't be taking our discussion any further. Fowler made his Liverpool debut as an 18-year-old in 1993, scoring 171 goals in 330 games before joining Leeds for £11m in 2001 and then Manchester City for £6m in 2003. Fowler returned for a second spell at Anfield in January 2006, although his starting appearances were limited. From the BBC

Is this a bit like when Knighton Matt gets completely pis sed up and then holds talk with ridiculously attractive, unattainable women in clubs?
Kent Fox Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Is this a bit like when Knighton Matt gets completely pis sed up and then holds talk with ridiculously attractive, unattainable women in clubs? Ha. I was doing that outside a pub in Rochester on Saturday. (At my age, that's disgraceful) This smoking in pubs ban is BRILL! All of us unhealthy smokers are all chatting to each other outside while the healthy peeps are inside.

Blue Bob Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 Its like chinese bloody whispers everyone thinking he has signed for another club. I am sure he will take another week making his mind up, especially if he is jet lagged coming back from Oz. I doubt he is going to rush.

Daggers Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 I don't give a toss where he goes - but Cardiff??? They're a bleeding third tier team. Always were, always will be. A pretty shitty city. * * I know the reference is Swansea but it's the same difference in my book
