Fowler to Leicester - Elvis to Mallorca/Mablethorpe

Most people want him here. Its his outrageous wages that we worried about. He aint worth breaking the bank for.

I dont think we should worry about his wages, MM will do that. I am sure MM will know what budget we will have and will have factored into it the likelyhood that signing Fowler should give us more ticket sales, shirt sales ect.

MM will not break the bank as he is the bank and has never bankrupted a club that he has owned because in effect he would be bankrupting himself and I dont think he is that daft.

If Fowler really wants to sign for Sydney FC then lets be honest, his heart aint in it!

Granted the championship aint the best league in the world but fook me at least its a proper one!!

Wages are not an issue, apparently.

Myself, Joe and LD3 went to training on Tuesday and Allen came over afterwards to talk to the people that had showed up. He said money is not an issue, Milan wants the club in the Prem and is prepared to spend the money to get us there.

He might be seeing them out of politeness - just like any number of clubs.

Because a guy explores his options doesn't mean his heart wouldn't be in it should he sign.

In fact the motre options he explores the more flattering if he joins us.

Chase people like Fowler and you're always likely to have competition.

Thats what I thought too, nothing wrong in exploring his options. I still think that he has an extensive property collection here so I doubt he will go abroad unless he is think about buying up half of Sydney too.

Hello, not been here for a while, but just to add to the air of grammatical obsessiveness I'd like to point out that there are several fascinating essays currently floating through the linguistic universe on why turns of phrase like 'might of' are actually NOT grammatically incorrect.

Furthermore, as regards Robbie Fowler, I'm sure he might well have been a wonderful signing, but there's plenty more money-grabbing 30-somethings out there. It's a shame we don't have Micky Adams on the managerial throne; not only would he have snapped-up Fowler by now but also Redknapp, McManaman and Don Hutchinson.

Didn't Liam Gallagher once say a 'gonna be' is infinitely preferential to a 'has been'? Or words to that general effect.

Well taken goal DJ. Got a very nice touch.

I think I'd actually prefer DJ to Fowler...*just*

I won't be sad if either signs though!

DJ £1.5mish. Fowler on a free! To actually have a legend who is still in his early 30s at this club would be about as similar as George Best turning out for Fulham lol. We would have an instead hero and more importantly, STILL the best finisher in English football by a country mile. Oh and someone who can take peno`s lol.

To spot a "has been" is simple, a "gonna be" is infitnitely harder.

Robbie Fowler has 4 young Fowlers to think about. Apart from his legend status as a footballer, he is a Dad.

He wants the best for his kids and has taken them all out to Sydney.

Part of his deciding factor is the level of education - academic and life - his kids will get.

Sydney, Port Vale, Cardiff, Leicester or wherever, I think his motives are spot on.

Kudos to you, Mr Fowler.

I can see where you are coming from, as I've said before I'd be happy if Fowler signed. The parts I'm struggling with, is that, a) he did feck all at Leeds and Man City, b) I also remember a quote of Fowlers going round that when he left Man City to go back to Liverpool, he said something along the lines of "I'll have to try in training now!" c) He's in Australia looking to sign for Sydney. I'm not knocking Aussie footy, but *IF* it was a toss up between Leicester/Cardiff/Sydney/Port Vale, I know who I'd sign for. I could understand him choosing a Spanish or Italian club above us, but, imho, we should have the biggest pull out of the reported clubs bidding for him. Saying that, I wouldn't blame him if he went to Cardiff. He's still got plenty of time to go to Australia when Leicester/Cardiff have finished with him.

Whoever he signs for, I think will speak volumes about him.

Robbie Fowler has asked Cardiff for 48 hours to chew over a move that could cost them a £1.5m-plus wage. (Daily Mail)

He's still got stuff to think about then......

I should think we'll stay away from this one now, if we are sure we're getting Campbell that is.

If he's in Oz, I think he might need a bit longer than that!

maybe he used the phone.

As my wife is Australian, I can confirm that they do have telephones in Australia. And roaming charges. Nast nasty roaming charges.

What I meant was that if he is going to potentially make a life changing decision for his family, he ain't gonna make the decision in 48 hours.

My wife is from Devon. They have telephones there too. They just don't know how to use them. "strong in the arm, soft in the head" as the saying goes.

He's due to fly back Monday apparantly. It may just be that he's staying out there in the hospitality of the football club and doesn't want to say before then that he's not interested, their training facilities are rubbish and that the heat melts his nose strips.

Perhaps Milan is paying the nasty roaming charges.

Although I think Izzy and DJ are looking more likely:

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric is planning a triple swoop for Birmingham's Stephen Clemence (£750,000) and DJ Campbell (£1.75m) and MK Dons striker Izale McLeod (£1m). (Daily Express)

Kent you are a lucky man, my wife once ran up £120 on my mobile in a month - wish she didnt know how to use it.

:D

My missus did / does that.

Dopey moo never learns! She chucks it in her handbag without keypad lock on and runs up the bills!

Un-fecking-believable!!!

So not so lucky - she learned.

It scares me when she learns stuff.

Cooking is next apparently.
