mat_j101 Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Im well happy!! I did not want him one bit. I dont see him justifying the wages he will surely be recieving. Hes not very quick these days either!
Geo V Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Cardiff has a huge catchment area and he will be treated as a god by the local nutty fans and whether we admit it or not, they are an ambitious club if not all that fashionable. It doesn't mean that they are better than us or that they have landed some major coup, just that we missed out this time. To be honest, with two smallish strikers already at the club in DJ and Hume, Im not sure where RF would have featured anyway. He is a ready made replacement for Chopra for Cardiff and has much more chance of getting games with them than with us. I hope he does well for them as he has been class down the years but his fitness must be a huge worry for any manager and we have enough question marks over injured strikers to throw the kitchen sink at this one.
Isopen Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 I just can't understand this, Fowler has gone to Cardiff. They are a poor side with basically no good players apart from Chopra who they have sold. They clearly have no ambition or they would have kept Chopra to help them get promoted next season. Leicester have all the ambition of the premiership, a better stadium and are a bigger club etc.Would have loved to have Fowler here can't believe he's gone Cardiff Discuss. Could be many things - They could have offered him more money - He could see them as more of an established squad than ours - They may have said, if you are fit you will certainly start, MA may not wanted to have promised this - His wife & kids favorites veggies are leeks Who knows Anyway if we had Chopra on our books, I bet Milan would have taken £5m for him

Who supposedly hate the English, until a great player comes along and plays for them.
Brainy Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 everything i have said is true...i am entitled to voice my opinion like all of you What an idiot Liverpool is obviously closer to Leicester And my opinion on your opinions are that you speak utter bullshit. and add Willo Flood to Dan's list.
Bryn Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 We probably backed out of the deal. Good job too. Btw can we have less of the " dey r a shit club wit no gd playas" cause it just makes us all look like utter bellends. Cardiff are a decent side.
Jay Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 i just love the fact that Peter Ridsdale wants to cripple another club!! Cardiff in the Conference in 5 years...I am not bothered that he hasn't signed for us, the wages we would save, and also the team would have to play around him, why play around a 32 year old when weve got lightning fast strikers in Hume and Campbell? Yep Ridsdales obviously up to his old tricks again no doubt blown most of the Chopra money on a massive signing on fee and stupid wages!! from the comments his agent made about not going to Sydney it's obvious the highest bidder was going to get him!!
Webbo Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 It was on radio Leicester that MA preferred Campbell to Fowler and that they were only half heartedly trying for him.
Floating Fox Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Liverpool to Cardiff (M6, M5, M4) 164 miles Liverpool to Leicester (M6, M69) 116 miles It's not just this goober, a lot of people have said something along these lines - showing up their geography quite badly! Christ, It's a disgrace.
Thracian Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 It was on radio Leicester that MA preferred Campbell to Fowler and that they were only half heartedly trying for him. Might be wrong but I don't think MA was prepared to be held to ransom.
MC Prussian Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 What a tragic loss!!! Someone give me a hanky, please. Really, I can't hold back those tears any longer.
act smiley Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 i just love the fact that Peter Ridsdale wants to cripple another club!! Cardiff in the Conference in 5 years... Well, to be fair, its only half what they got for Chopra. Whether that'll be value for money, remains to be seen.
Brainy Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 This has been the top football story on the BBC for the past 12 hours now. Why
Joe. Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 This has been the top football story on the BBC for the past 12 hours now.Why Just quite possibly that it's been the biggest football story of the day?
lildave3 Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Just quite possibly that it's been the biggest football story of the day? It hasn't though. Are they not aware that King Ricky made his City debut today?? The fools
Sly Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 We didn't actively persue Fowler becuase Allen wanted Campbel. Even though I don't rate Campbell higher than our other crop of strikers, he's a better long term investement. Fowler wanted £22k a week in wages so thats £1.1 million a year in wages alone, with not much chances of recouping that amount if we were to sell him if/when if didn't work out. Chances are, DJ is on less than half that of Fowler, he'll score goals I don't doubt that but it least if it doesn't ork out we can claw some fo the cash we've paid out for him and on the wages we've spent on him.
Jay Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 Well, to be fair, its only half what they got for Chopra. Whether that'll be value for money, remains to be seen. well Ridsdale was "living the dream" by signing superstars and players that they couldn't afford at LeedsI don't really see this as being much different!! £20 000 a week plus a £1million bonus if they get into the premiership, god knows what sort of signing on fee and loyalty bonus!! a couple more players like that and your f**ked while having crowds of 15000 and having to pay for a new ground seems like a Ridsdale special to me!!
Blue Bob Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 Its a tough call, DJ or Fowler. Fowler is a class player but he is well past his best. Some of his goals last season were from penalties not from open play, so does he still have what it takes? If he did why did no Premiership teams come in for him? I am sure he will score goals in the championship but will his heart be in it when he goes to Colchester and S****horpe or when he is being kicked around the park by less subtle centre halves - I am not so sure he will. Might be a bit to much time on the injury list. DJ on the other hand is a bit of an unkown but he is still trying to make a name for himself, he has pace and can score and his career is on the up. MA has made his choice and I am sure for the right reasons, MM has backed him. I hope he is right and at the end of the season DJ has scored more goals than Fowler.
Micky Ruddle Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 Might have been said i don't know, but maybe Ridsdale was the influence as he was the bloke who bought him to Leeds from Liverpool for £11m.
Edmund Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 Didn't his agent say that where ever he went he wanted first team football. Theres a lot more competition here with Cort, Hume, Fryatt, Sappleton, De Vries, Odihambo, and now DJ...... I dont think we could guarantee that.. I would have liked to see him here but not on silly wages. Wasnt worth the quoted 20 something grand a week.
Head Honcho Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 cardiff is alot closer than leics to liverpool etc and its an easier journy for him...think about it!doh topic shut FOOL!
Alexikokopops Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 Liverpool to Cardiff (M6, M5, M4) 164 miles Liverpool to Leicester (M6, M69) 116 miles It's not just this goober, a lot of people have said something along these lines - showing up their geography quite badly! Goober, fantastic!! Dunno why he didn't come out here to Sydney. After all it's much closer to Liverpool than Cardiff..
MC Prussian Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Oooh, I can't wait for Cardiff to enter the Premiership - in about 50 years! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/t...ity/6281850.stm
Finnegan Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 what do you know?Name me some good Cardiff players... You ignorant little shitbrick. Chopra's just a one-trick pony, run, run, run, shoot. To add to the names already thrown about, sad that no one's said Paul Parry yet. Plus they've signed that Gavin Rae lad who looks promising at Championship level and Tony Capaldi's already known in this division. What did we have last year? Josh soddin' Low? Oh, great. Anyhow, Chopra wasn't the best prospect at the club. Joe Ledley's going to be a Premiership player - and a fair one, mark my words.
act smiley Posted 25 July 2007 Posted 25 July 2007 Disagree about Chopra being a one-trick-pony, I thought he was pretty good. Parry and Ledley though are indeed very, very, good - McPhail is good too, and Loovens is quite good as well. Still think they'll miss Alexander though, he was quality. They still need more up front to be honest, Thompson is dismal.
