Leicester City vs Blackpool. Line-ups and Predictions

Recommended Posts

Blackpool, in my opinion, are the team who will finish bottom this year, only here because they had good form towards last season. The only player that I "fear" in their team is Andrew Morrell, who according to soccerbase scored 16 goals last year. tbh I don’t know any of they're players. On paper we should win this easily.

However since that game against Bolton a few years ago I try not to make judgements on newly promoted teams but I will be shocked if we lose on Saturday. Anything can happen but it’s unlikely that the un-expected will happen to us on Saturday. The only thing that could get them a point or three is they're effort. They might try harder but I doubt MA will let that happen!

In pre-season the "tangerines" have won two games against Fleetwood (3-0) and Bradford City (2-1) but have lost against Carlisle and Wigan, both finishing in 2-1 defeat. Their only draw of pre-season came against Livingston. The defeat against Carlisle would be concerning if I followed Blackpool. Yes, we have lost twice as well but both games were against established Premiership/SPL teams.

Blackpool Maybe

--Danny Coid--Paul Tierney--Stephen Crainey--Michael Jackson

--Wesley Hoolahan--Adrian Forbes--Claus Bech Jorgensen--David Fox

--------------------Scott Vernon----Andrew Morrell---------------

Leicester My Team

-------------------------------Jimmy Neilson----------------------------------

--Richard Stearman--Gareth McAuley--Bruno N'Gotty--James Chambers/Joe Mattock

--Shaun Newton--Stephen Clemence--Radostin Kishishev--Levi Porter

-----------Iain Hume/DJ Campbell--Mark De Vries/Matty Fryatt----------

No Keabi and Kisnorbo becuase they have been away. I would go for Mattock at left back but MA has played Chambers there alot and plays Mattock in the left midfield slot. The striker places are un-predictable. De Vries, star man of pre-season. Hume, top goal scorer last season. DJ Campbell, new big money signing. Or Matty Fryatt, once our hot-shot but a injury savaged season since.

Im going for a 3-1 win to City.

Logan

Chambers, N'Gotty, Stearman, Sheehan;

Wesolowski, Clemence, Porter.

Hume, DeVries, Campbell.

Subs: Henderson, McAuley, Kishishev, Fryatt, Newton.

Stearman/McAuley is hardest but I believe Stearman has the speed and skills to supplement midfield when we have the ball allowing Porter to get forward more to influence attacks

Weso and Hume can both help provide width and cover on the right, Porter doing the same on the left while having a general freedom to be creative behind the front three.

By playing three strikers we negate the problem that no two seem to be enough and we retain the height/holding ability of MDV. The side has six/seven potential scorers including three specialist strikers and their presence should make it hard for Blackpool to commit enough men forward to worry us.

Both full-backs are well capable of supporting high up the field and our all-round recovery when we've lost possession would be swift.

There would also be no problem Porter taking responsibility in central midfield if we come under unexpected presssure.

Using Kishishev would give us more stablility but would cost us in an attacking sense and I feel we need to attack the game rather than concede the initiative like in last season's opener.

Do your looks actually resemble that of a proboscis monkey? Or did you just get that picture of the net because you find it amusing. I find them bizarre and I definately wouldn't date one. Anyone for a raisin?

Thankyou for your prompt and formative response. With regards to the raisin, I don't actually like them, but I have one here, just wondered if anyone fancied it

Attendance : 28521

I'll be amazed if Blackpool field 4 natural strikers against us. And no Stephen Crainey, shocking.

I'd like to think Chambers will play right back, Mattock left back.

It sounds like Mattock will be out of Saturday's game. McAuley should be fit.

Therefore if we don't sign any players this week, I think the line-up will be:

Neilson

Stearman

McAuley

N'Gotty

Chambers

Newton/Kaebi

Kishishev

Clemence ©

Wesolowski

Hume

de Vries

Subs: Campbell, Newton/Kaebi, Logan, Hellings, Fryatt

Not the sort of line-up that I want to see, but it appears Allen & Mandaric aren't as concerned about our lack of left sided players as the fans have been all pre-season. I also don't see any creativity that we've got in midfield, it needs resolving.

However, I still think we'll beat Blackpool.

2-0

Hume & McAuley

Providing we don't sign any players before Saturday this is what I think we will see :

Nielsen

Stearman

N Gotty

McAuley

Chambers

Newton

Kishishev

Clemence

Hayes

Hume

Campbell

Hopefully we will have solved the left back situation by Saturday but I am not overly confident about that.

Don't think Mattock will be fit for Saturday so I guess that leaves Hayes been as Porter hasn't played a great deal over pre-season.

Centre half's both seem to lack pace, that could prove a problem over the season.

I don't think Kaebi will make Saturday, therefore start on the bench maybe get 30 mins towards the end depending on the score.

We should only be playing Chambers at left back in a dire emergency. I really would like to see Hume play on the left as I'm not sure Hayes is quite ready yet, with De Vries and DJ up front. Weso just edges Kishishev in midfield for me, as reports from Pompey tend to suggest that Clemence was more of a driving force with Weso to back him up rather than Kishishev. Stearman gets the nod at CB as he's certainly better there than at RB (from what I've seen), and the lack of mobility between N'Gotty and McAuley worries me. I put Nielsen between the sticks just because... well that's what will happen. Newton gets the nod in front of Kaebi because Kaebi hasn't had much game time and it doesn't appear that Allen wants to risk him yet.

In reality, I'd like to see us sign a LM and a LB before Saturday, but I'm not sure it'll happen.

Kaebi should still have high fitness levels as he would have been training with Iran if not playing much. I reckon there is a 30-70 chance that MA will sling him in along with DJ. Either way, they`ll both feature at some stage I'm sure but maybe not from the get-go. I mentioned before that Blackpool will be very organized as they haven't changed there squad much and I tip them to be one of the surprise packages of the season. They`ll be goals and we will win 3-2 or 4-2 IMO.

I want...

Nielsen

Chambers - N`Gotty - McAuley - Mattock

Kaebi - Kishishev- Clem - Hayes

Hume - DJ

We`ll probably get.....

Nielsen

Stearman - N`Gotty - McAuley - Chambers

Newton - Kishishev- Clem - Weso

Hume - MDV**

(Based on DJ not had that uch game time in pre-season)

I think: Neilson

Stearman, N'Gotty, Mcauley, Chambers

Newton Weso Clemence Porter Subs: Hendo, Sheehan, Kaebi, Fryatt, DJ

Hume De Vries

I HOPE:

Neilson

Chambers, Stearman, N'Gotty, Mattock

Weso, Kishishev, Clemence

DJ Campbell De Vries/Fryatt Hume.

Subs: Hendo, Sheehan, Porter, Kaebi, De Vries/ Fryatt

I think Kaebi will be starting on the bench because of his lack of training with us due to the Asian Cup. Kisnorbo won't play foot the obvious reason that he is banned :frusty:

I predict. 3-1 Leicester. Hume, DJ, Fryatt. Hoolahan.

Would also like to see a left back such as Stefanovic come in this week and push mattock into the left wing spot and Porter onto the bench.

Has this been confirmed?

Not sure about offically but it seems to have some credibility to it, did some one post that it was in todays Merc, just checked the Blue Army site - nothing on there although it looks like Kaebi's a doubt

Of tonight's clash, he said: “Everybody who didn't start on Saturday will play at Cambridge.

“Patrick Kisnorbo will play but Hossein Kaebi had a slight thigh strain, which was why he did not face Portsmouth, so we will see how he is.''

i've only put kenton in the starting line up because he has been promised to start by martin allen after a good game at cambridge

kaebi i don't think is fit enough to start

and i don't know who to choose up front because de vries looked promising during the portsmouth game, matty fryatt's been scoring a few goals the same goes for iain hume and d j cambel i think might just be on the subs bench
