stripeyfox Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Just think of the farcical scenes as our players attempt to score an own goal from the kick off! How many corners would we give away before finally scoring?
Raj Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 We offered them the game as I understand it.I believe we should give them a one-nil head start and play the ninety minutes. I actually agree with TPH. This can only be deemed to be the fairest way. IF we win 1-0,in the eyes of most people(more so Forest) we would not have technically won. I remember Arsenal V Sheff U,when One team scored a goal for the other cos of Kanu playing on when he shouldn't have. Kick off. Score a goal for them. Play the remainder of the 89 mins and win fair and square?
Rossatron Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 i don't think you can 'give' someone a 1-0 lead, it'd have to be a case of kicking off and letting them score unopposed from the kickoff...personally, i think we should give them the result for these reasons: 1. if we replay and lose, we'll look really crap. 2. it's an effort and fixture we can do without 3. forest won't get the satisfaction of actually beating us 4. it will make them feel even more guilty for calling us cheats realistically, i'm sure if forest can re-charge for tickets, there's no way they'll accept a forfeit at the expense of a lucrative rematch, win or lose. so you dont think we looked really crap with our performance anyway
ITK GAZ Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 No way should we conceed. How often do we get to play our biggest rivals? I can't wait for the replay and another trip to the Florists - it won't be flowers I'm rearranging though, more like there faces
Tabou Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 In my opinion. It should be done as fairly as possible. As much as I Dont like Forest, they did a noble thing last night. From what I've read, their players were as upset as our players, so in the event Clarke was substitued, it wouldn't have been a good remainder of the match with regards to atmosphere and entertainment value. We should play the remaining 45 minutes, with a 1-0 deficit, and the match should be played behind closed doors. Hence, no trouble, no taunts, no agro. I think this is the fairest way.
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I don't see what all the fuss is about to be honest. Teams are often robbed of goals by poor offside and goal line decisions, this is a much better cause. We offered them the game as I hear and if they said no we'll postpone it then thats fair enough, this what we shall do, start again at 0-0. and what if we equalise in the second half. You get the new arguement "Had the game not been called off you would of only had 45 minutes to score"
Monk Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 All valid points from everyone, I do remember that own goal for the Kanu incident. Maybe our players will choose to do the same. I guess it would be fitting in consideration of the kind agreement of forest to stop the game. If we did so, it should be done from Kick off, by a leicester player as opposed to letting them score.

I dont want you guys to conceed because we dont want to win this way, also i think that if teh replay goes ahead it should start 0-0 and we should earn that lead back. However with all the problems that are going to come from the replay its going to very tough to organise and i wouldnt be surprised it you guys do conceed, i just really hope they decide whats happening before the draw for the next round because if that decides what happens then i would'nt be too happy.

Depending on whether or not they seed it...which I can't remember whether or not they do or not in the 3rd round. The team we draw will more than likely be a Prem one.
breadandcheese Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I personally think we should concede. Unless we can play 45 minutes 1-0 down, which a number of more informed posters than me are suggesting is against Football League rules, then I think we should concede. The staff at Forest helped us out last night. It seems the gracious thing to do in thanks.

In regards to what happens next, I think this should be Forest's decision, not ours.
MPH Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Concede the game. Send Forest best wishes for their continued progress. Had it been a boxing match the bout would have been stopped after half an hour anyway. agree. wouldnt want to play the game again without Clive Clarke playing. doesnt seem right. also too much tension surrounding the cirumstances. You can bet there are some nutcases out there thinking they want to 'make forest pay' for the actions of some of their fans in calling us cheats for the game being abandoned.. but will they attack the right fans? should they attack any fans? the replay would be a bomb waiting to go off. Its not worth it. more important things in life to be concerning ourselves about. let them have the game.
DB11 Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 We should definitely not concede the game. Clive Clarke is on the road to recovery now so we have to think of football matters and what is best for LCFC. I'd rather play the game and lose fair and square than just not try and give it to them

On a night when three Evertonians walked on to the Anfield pitch to complete silence and respect, before applauding as Z cars was played, we have fans like you who can't wait for a potential replay brought on by the near death of one of our players, just so you can have a fight.

Geo V Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 I think if anything they should resume the game from the 2nd half but behind closed doors. Its unfair on the clubs and the supporters to be denied the chance of a cup run in these circumstances and despite what some muppets have said that we were getting hammered, its not the first time this season that MA`s team talk has seen an upturn in our performance in the second half of games. Quick Edit Leicester City's rescheduled Carling Cup second round clash against Nottingham Forest will now take place at The City Ground on Tuesday, September 18 (7.45pm). As a result, the Foxes Championship clash at Ipswich Town, originally scheduled for that night, has been postponed until a later date. Forest were not due to have a game that night. Ticket details will follow in due course.

davieG Posted 29 August 2007 Author Posted 29 August 2007 Tread closed now a redundant question - thanks for the views, interesting and thought provoking. Note to Sumdge - ludicrous was perhaps too strong.
