Matt Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Anyone watch the Plymouth v Cardiff game on Saturday night? I saw the second half and from what I saw i'm so glad we didn't sign these players, Maybe they will come good but on Saturday together there far from that "Golden partnership" I was excited about the rumour of us signing Fowler/Hasselbaink when they appeared but think Allen/whoever made the right decision and think we had a lucky escape, Perhaps individually Fowler on his own of Hasselbaink on his own would work, Perhaps the partnership will come good, but at the moment it doesn't look the best. Anyone else see the game?
DB11 Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 One of them would have been very good. Experienced professional who knows what it is like to win. One of the younger strikers could have played off of them and learnt a thing or two. Both of them together, however, was doomed from the start and why they are paying such high wages for the two is beyond me really.
Pete_foxes Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Definatly a lucky escape. I never wanted Hasselbaink, but I do admit to wanting Fowler. Now after seeing them I'm so glad we don't have them, they both just look slow. Also they must be making Cardiff bankrupt, probably collecting 20k+ a week I'd of thought.
Simi Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 I dread to think how this thread would be looking had they both had a successful start to the season. I don't think there is much chance of them working together as a partnership, but maybe one of them up front with Steven Thompson? I was in a minority on here that didn't want Hasselbaink, I just didn't think he'd be with it this year, on early showing, it certainly looks that way.
Joe. Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Like Ched, I was one of the few who didn't want Hasselbaink here. I know he's way past his best. On the other hand Fowler was a player who I would really have liked to join us. I still have the same opinion to be honest. Despite him obviously being past his best I thought he would have still done the business for us. Hopefully he proves me wrong and has a mare at Cardiff.
Thracian Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 I think I said at the time that Mandaric, far from outing him, should have thanked MA for saving him so much money on JFH.
Tevez Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Hasslebaink looks so unfit when i watched on Saturday, Fowler, i hardly even seen him.
Bert Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Guarentee when they play us they'll both score though.
Daggers Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 Like Ched and Joe I was one of the few that...hang on a minute...no I wasn't. I wanted JFH to sign. I was wrong. He's as shit as I knew Fowler would be.
Geo V Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Wasnt JFH involved in their goals? Neither is 100% fit but they will struggle without the service anyway and I don't think Cardiff have many quality midfielders although Whittingham and Ledley are decent. I still wouldnt right them off just yet as its still only September and I do expect one of them to come good soon, hopefully not against us.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 19 September 2007 Posted 19 September 2007 Guarentee when they play us they'll both score though. Such is the law of sod!
Geo V Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 Jimmy Floyd just scored. Meh. The run has started.
Darkzzz_ Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 Im glad we didnt get him, his ego would have cost us a lot more than him in terms of wages, he is interested in the money.... i think he was a good striker at athletico madrid, leeds and chelsea... but he isnt that good now, we would have been paying for a expired out of date striker...
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 I'll bet that one of them will leave before the seasons' end
davieG Posted 22 September 2007 Posted 22 September 2007 fowler now 2 goals against pne Ha, Ha, Calum Davidson got two as well to force a draw.
Marlon King Posted 23 September 2007 Posted 23 September 2007 I listened to the commentary last Wed when we played them and the commentator kept saying that Fowler was terrible, way past it, couldn't hit a barn door etc. while it seems Hasselbaink could still cut it, he scored against us but he's still slow as a sack of shit.
Master Fox Posted 23 September 2007 Posted 23 September 2007 Hang on, Didn't we have Fryatt & Cort starting up front for us yesterday? I would say that's probably worse...
Micky Ruddle Posted 23 September 2007 Posted 23 September 2007 Hang on, Didn't we have Fryatt & Cort starting up front for us yesterday? I would say that's probably worse... That was very poor. Poor indeed. Even Fowler scored. Could Cort.....not if he played all night...
Nath Posted 23 September 2007 Posted 23 September 2007 Cort's worse than De Vries. Never thought i'de see the day that i said someone is worse than him. (Part from poor Elvis Hammond) De Vries is now trying hard while wanting to suceed with us, but megson prefers donkey Cort.
purpleronnie Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Hasselbaink and fowler scored again. I did say as others did missing out on these 2 signings will come back to bite us, lets hope not but the signs are not good. To me buying players who have played at the top level whatever their age is better than picking so called up and coming stars who have done nothing i.e. DJ.
purpleronnie Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 And another for fowler...OMG! Could never understand people on here who thought it was good we missed out on them.
