Kilworthfox Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 I was wondering where Leicester should really be in relation to the other clubs in the division? No I'm not one to panic due to our current position of 21st ! Promotion contenders Wolves Watford Southampton West Bromwich Albion Preston North End Charlton Athletic Average Joe's season of mediocrity Crystal Palace Sheffield Wednesday Sheffield United (Under Robson) Norwich City Coventry City Stoke City Burnley Plymouth Argyle Ipswich Town Cardiff City Leicester City Then the Relegation Scrappers QPR S****horpe United Blackpool Bristol City Barnsley Colchester United Hull City In my opinion we have a side who whilst are under performing at the moment could possibly be in all 3 categories. I don't believe it can get any worse than this as I am the ever optimist . Some teams are really under performing if my expectations are realistic and like wise some teams are overachieving. Some of the bigger clubs are down the bottom of the table and the newly promoted teams are up the top. Does this mean they are more excited to play in the championship than the established championship big boys? I believe so. So why are the big teams with high expectations higher in the league than we are at the moment? We have spent the money (supposably). We too have a big ground with good support in numbers. Do they have more stability with people in high places making better decisions which are paying off in results? Or are we unlucky? Why are the minnows of the Championship excelling when in reality with their smaller budgets and less technically skilled players (history suggests) are out performing the likes of say Leicester City! Are they doing something that the likes of Hmmmm..... Leicester are not? Well obviously, they are because they are above us. In short what the feck is wrong with us, win a few matches for the love of god, and get your respect back and look as if there is some effort going in to your performances
Ric Flair Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 With our squad we should be challenging for a top 10 finish. When you look at the likes of Barnsley, S****horpe, Bristol City etc managing to pick up results, it just highlights how much we are under-achieving. Megson talks about lack of quality, but it's not often just down to quality at this level.
Fat Ron Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 I said before the Season started I would be happy with a mid table finish and Im sticking to it. Its not that I have confidence in the Team or that I dont want to be up the top end of the table, but I want City to build a squad to compete in every game. This is going to take time. Megson wasnt my choice as Manager but we have to give him a chance to stamp his authority on the squad and get a few of his own players in, he is only working with what Allen had left and lets be honest many of those signings were less than impressive. A point against Wolves was, in my opinion a good result. We kept a clean sheet (Thank you Marton!!) and looked far more organised at the back than we did against Stoke. a few people have commented that we defended to much it was a boring game, well I would rather have a point against Wolves and build confidence & organisation than try to be exciting and lose by 2 or 3. I think the tactics were there or there abouts and a draw was a fair reflection of the game. There are obvious improvments to be made to the side/squad but again, this is going to take time and it would seem that Megson is already attempting to bring in new players.
Master Fox Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 Avoid relegation. Win at least 3 games at home in the next year or two. Yeah.
Geo V Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 I`d say your list is about right and we are average Joes who could fall into the category of those clubs who could rise above expectations, like say someone like Cardiff. At the moment though we are not doing a very good job of hitting the minimum requirements are we?!
Manwell Pablo Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 The seasons still early. I still think we can get 12th. One of your problems is having a massive squad, so many new signings and a 4 new managers in the space of the last 6 months. The whole set up is completley unsettled. The likes of Bristol City and S****horpe on the other hand are very settled.

Well that would be Milan's view anyway judging by the guff he's allowed to be brought into the playing squad and the propensity for firing managers at the drop of a hat because he's got the readies to do so. Hopefully we'll settle down under Megson but then I said the same when we brought in Allen.

At the end of the day, no matter what people say about Chelsea, Manure, Liverpool etc having money is only half of the story. You can't really be successful without but at the same time having it doesn't guarantee success.
Foxes 2 da grave Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 When a striker starts scoring regularly and we stop conceding the first goal we could finish anywhere between where we are now and the play offs. We only seem to attack teams with menace when were on the back foot thats why we have drew a lot of games.

ithuriel Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 at present i would be happy if we manage to stay up rather than move up , i just really do not think megson is upto the job. he may have twice propelled west brom into the premier league but he could not keep them there and was given the boot , he then went one better and hastened forests fall from grace:D before being left on the managerial scrap heap unwanted by anybody until now. so mandy gave him a chance to get back into football and he is blowing it because if you do not win league matches you do not keep your job personally i would give him another three to four league matches to see an improvement and actually win a match where it really matters , otherwise goodbye , cheerio , do not let the door etc.,...
Kilworthfox Posted 4 October 2007 Author Posted 4 October 2007 Blackpool for relegation scrappers?I think not! I didn't say they would go down I said at the start of the season you would put them in that bracket. Are they safe from relegation? Tis too early to say!
Fat Ron Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 Fryatt is scoring regularly. Lets wait and see him start a few more games before this one is debated, on tuesday he looked a shadow of the player he wa against Stoke. I dont think its fair to say he is scoring regularly after 3 games.
Daggers Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 I've given up on expecting results. The Posties are only on strike until Tuesday...they might arrive by Friday.
Finnegan Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 The Posties are only on strike until Tuesday...they might arrive by Friday. Groooan. That was bad, even by FT standards.

Daggers Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 I thought it was funny That doesn't count - you'd find a picture of a mouse's cock swollen due to a hideous infection to be funny. ...err...actually, that'd probably be everyone here apart from 'The Moderators' who'd delete it and ban the person responsible. I like fudge.

Guest Posted 4 October 2007 Posted 4 October 2007 If you're talking about the confectionery, then I love it too. As for my expectations this season, I expected us not to be fighting relegation, and anything over 12th would be a bonus.
