Thracian Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 Henderson 5.5 (Little to do but failed to punch a cross clear and the ball almost found its way into the far corner of the net. Distribution as ever, pretty awful) Garner 4 (As the right side of our back three he rarely looked convincing and his only distributive idea seemed to be to whack it upfield, therefore invariably giving away possession). Kenton 6.5 (Held the back three together fairly manfully and made one excellent clearance from close to goal) Rowe-Turner 6 (One goal-saving interception, otherwise average) Kaebi 5 (Had a chance as right wing back and fluffed it.. Largely anonymous. Left stranded too often. Has a trade mark slide tackle he tried twice. Once he gave away a free kick on edge of the box which almost produced a goal and the second time he missed his tackle completely. Rarely threatened going forward.). Hayes 5.75 (Missed his open goal but did well to create the chance and had a few clever moments. Not a game he'll want to remember though) Hellings 6.5 (His best game yet. Some good interceptions, probing passes and seemed to link with his team-mates better. Still inclined to take an extra touch but at least promising) Porter 6.75 (Did well without being outstanding in central midfield. Virtually all his passes found their mark in contrast to last week and he made enough chances or half chances for us to have forced at least a draw in a game in which we enjoyed terriorial advantage for most of the time. Looking close to fitness again but he's still not being quite as positive as he needs to be). Maybury 5.75 (The skipper looked frustrated at times and gave Sappleton a real blast. Generally did okay himself without ever being particularly creative as our second wing back). Sappleton 3 (Wasted the penalty and his control in the first half was as bad as I've seen from a professional footballer. Improved a bit second half but looked generally cumbersome). McKay 6.5 (Never close enough to Sappleton early on and muscled out first half. Second half he got some passes, found some space and hit a series of snapshots and volleys which might have beaten a lesser keeper). Subs: Beswick 6 (Replaced Kaebi and, as always, improved our attacking options even from the left side of defence. Forever provided passing opportunities which led to our better moves) Ashley Chambers 6 (Replaced Sappleton and looked very swift and positive and so nearly forced a breakthrough with two particularly direct runs down the left.).
ASH17LCFC Posted 10 October 2007 Posted 10 October 2007 well he cant attack if he is used in defence. Don't worry mate, he probally was the best player on the pitch but this bias fool wouldn't admitt it. Levi Porter was the best player but did nothing great ?! The guy gives Sheehan and Stearman 7s every game. When its clear to everyone they played crap.
Thracian Posted 11 October 2007 Author Posted 11 October 2007 well he cant attack if he is used in defence. If you're a Kaebi fan - perhaps his interpreter- be straightforward. Why is the guy struggling?

If you want me to say he had a wonderful game, incisive tackles, cool coming out of defence, clever footwork on the ball, lots of dangerous balls into the box and shots that peppered the goal but just wouldn't go in, how's that sound?
theathiest Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 If you're a Kaebi fan - perhaps his interpreter- be straightforward. Why is the guy struggling? Simply because the style of game they play in Iran is a slow physical game. In england, the game is fast paced and tactical. Once he adapts to the tactics of the game, he will explode at RM . The kid has the physical ability, he just needs the coaching. BTW, he will commit many fouls because the style soccer played in Iran is extremely physical... you have games with 40 + fouls.

The People's Hero Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 I see Thracian has turned on Ka'ebi. How old is Ka'ebi?

I see that the criteria of a successful wingback have changed again! Sheehan - none of the above but good set pieces. And you love him! Complete contradiction Thracian. You're a complete fool.

Surely the Championship is the most physical league in the world? Are you trying to call w'or team a bunch of puffs or summut?! Mutha! Knack 'im!
The People's Hero Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 I did notice that, but didn't want to be the one to question it.Kaebi is 21 by the way. I wonder if it's another case of Thracian's casual racism then? Because his ageism doesn't come in to play in this case. Christ, he's a bigoted man.

Christ, he's a bigoted man. No, it will be because he didn't come through our Academy and that because others take a keen interest in him, then it naturally riles him. Thracian seems to champion the unknown and the under-dog. It's fair enough, I know others who do. It's in his nature and the Academy lads do need support and encouragement but it's just amusing to take a step back and read some of the stuff on here about them. I do need to add though, that Kaebi does appear to have looked fairly crap in recent outings. But he's got the ability, but in the environment he's in, he's hardly going to be highly motivated. In a country thousands of miles away from where he was bought up, 50 caps at International Level and seen as one of the Nations hopes. Takes a brave move to move to Europe to try and further his career and test himself against better players and he's dumped in the reserves for the first few months. If that doesn't knock you off your stride then I don't know what does. It's not as if he'll have many familiar faces around him to keep his spirits up.
harpendenfox Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 cheers for doing the ratings and providing comments Thracian. They're very much appreciated by those of us who love this daft football club, but for whatever reason aren't able to put in the appearances. Really sad to see that the so-called Prince of Persia is struggling in the reserves. His arrival was greeted with such fanfare. Having seen him a few times do you think he has the potential to succeed here if he's given the necessary coaching and support, or is it just not going to happen?
kaebifan Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 i am his fan, not his personal coach-how am i supposed to say y he is struggling. i dunno. i dont even live in england to be able to see him. anyway i dunno. i think it might be becoz he is fasting. Ramadan finishes soon so lets see how he performs next week.

His arrival was greeted with such fanfare.Having seen him a few times do you think he has the potential to succeed here if he's given the necessary coaching and support, or is it just not going to happen? Possibly. His second reserves game was encouraging - he was quick, skillful, keen to get forward and blended well with his team-mates. It has been quite surprising to see the extent of the change. Whether his fasting has anything to do with it I don't know but for the second game running it was hard to remember any positive contribution he might have made while his mistakes and deficiencies were quite noticeable. In answer to your question about his potential I would want to see him some more. He strikes me as very small and light for English football but such people have done well in the past and there's no doubting his basic skills. But if he is to succeed there seems much work to be done.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 I hadn't thought of Ramadan. Playing five-a-side last night, a lad who plays for our team came back last night because it was a late kickoff and he was able to eat before coming to football. Has missed the last few games, he looked weaker and didn't play to his potential. Might just be lack of fitness generally but the same thing happened with a different bloke last year.

I used to play football while fasting when I was younger, but then again I was a complete lunatic back then. I had too much energy for my own good. At ameteur level is hard, so imagine what's like at professional level.

Ric Flair Posted 11 October 2007 Posted 11 October 2007 Without wanting to sound dis-tasteful, is Ramadam a good dieting technique? I might pioneer it to the public like that Atkins chap. Could do with a few quid to spend on ale, fags and pizza's.
