Answers on a postcard :dunno:

I'm at a loss as to why this clown is still in the employment of the Welsh FA.

Maybe the powers that be think that finishing below Cyprus in qualifying is the way forward.

OR he's on a massive contract and they can't afford to pay him off

either way can't believe they are still employing him.

I had a huge rant typed out earlier about Toshack but I thought better of it as I didn't think anyone would care. :D I'm off out now, but I'm blatantly going to be all over this thread later.

I'm sure Wales would have had a better campaign if the likes of Speed, Giggs and Savage were still playing but for one reason or another they aren't and that doesn't leave too much experience within the rest of the squad. Its a shame for Wales really as the kids who are coming through like Hennesey, Bale and Ledley look very good and the emergence of Eastwood along with Bellamy would make up a decent side if the aforementioned older players hadn't retired too.

I feel sorry for Toshack for working with not the best squad that Wales have ever had but at the same time I have never rated the bloke as a manager. He doesn't seem to be on the planet or have any passion.

Back to Toshack...a manager cant go around hammering his players(Or workers if its a manager in industry) and expect them to perform for him.

Thats the best way to demotivate anyone.

They will just do crap and get him sacked!!!!!

The problem, really, is a lack of replacements should Toshack go. Obviously a lot of people in Wales would want a Welsh manager, and that plays a part, but then so does the fact that the Welsh FA aren't exactly rich and the Welsh position isn't exactly glamorous. You're hardly going to tempt Jose Mourinho or Gus Hiddink into the role.

I think Toshack performs a vital role, off the field. He's Thracian's dream manager, in all honesty, out go the egos (except his own) and in come the youf'. And it should have a positive effect, I salivate at the prospect of the team that hammered the Slovaks (the second time round...) in 2010. But simply turning up at an international level isn't going to make you a fantastic footballer. You need to be receiving good tuition, be well organised, learning how to win games and be a succesful unit. There needs to be improvement ON the field. And therein lies the problem.

As a "director of football" or whatever the fook they're calling it these days, he'd probably be alright - but as an international manager Josh Toshack is tactically inept and totally unable to inspire. Wales needs a McLeish, someone to inspire greatness in a lesser squad. It needs (as much as it pains me to say it) Robbie Savage and it's better, quality players and most importantly - it needs to play to it's strengths. We've a team of attacking talent and a manager that insists in playing defensive formations that leave a number of his Premiership players sidelined.

We're dull, boring, underachieving, uninspired, defensive and lazy. It's like watching Leicester.

As for Savo? Well. I loved Robbie Savage as a player, and even as a personality, but he's just gone far too far. Initially I sided with Savage after the appointment of John Toshack, but he doesn't realise that what he's doing now is EXACTLY the same thing he was furious with Toshack for in the first place. Tosh used to be immensely critical of the Wales side under Hughes and many in the squad felt it really damaged morale, hence a lot of the initial hoo-har when he arrived. So Savage does what? Exactly the same? He needs to stop and consider the effect his ranting has on the kids in the squad and shut his mouth. He should be supporting young, Welsh talent and sounding less like a bitter little boy that's feeling left out. Where was he congratulating Wayne Hennesey or Freddy Eastwood after recent performances? :dunno: Try getting behind the team and stop slating the gaffer. Savage is a Wales fan, now, like we're city fans. We need to get behind Megson and Sav' needs to get behind his team. Or fook off.
