MPH Posted 23 October 2007 Posted 23 October 2007 With all the recent piracy issues going on at the moment.... i was just wandering if you guys were worried you would be caught!!What kind of things do you download and how often do you download....??? I know my mate has his compute on 24/7 downloading loads of stuff... I dont think they could stop it all completely to be honest!!! There is to many... i think the people they are targetting right now is not the guy downloading stuff to use for himself, but people that are then distributing in amongst other people. dissable the option that allows people to access your sharing folder and you should be fine. DISCLAIMER: you are buggered and can not hold me responsible if you are not 'fine'

Finnegan Posted 23 October 2007 Posted 23 October 2007 Not in the slightest... Never downloaded anything illegal!! Not even an mp3?
Phube Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 Not even an mp3? Nope... purchase all mine via iTunes... or a shop!!
Dr The Singh Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 Only if the porn industry are clampnig down on illegal downloads!!!
hairy Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 In all the years of the 'clampdown' the RIAA have only managed to prosecute one person. She was fined and declared herself bankrupt the same day so they get no money. They are also after scene releasers. So the answer is no. I am not worried.

Bluefoxtim Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 If they were to do anything about people downloading for personal use, half the country would be in prison. As someone else said, if people are downloading a lot and using it to make money, then that's when it becomes a bit more serious.
AyewJoking Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 Yeah as long as you arent making money out of it, its practically legal
Unit Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 I think in the end they'll realise there's just TOO many people to arrest every single for downloading music, instead they'll head for the source and the people controlling these torrent sites etc.
Pete_foxes Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 I can't say i'm too worried. I have the 'it'l happen to someone else' attidude. If you just download them then go to the option that says stop sharing then I think its ok. It seems that also if u denie all knowing of it being illegal then it seems to get you off the hook. Also if you have Limewire, which some people I know have & it says there is like millions apon millions of people online downloading files & thats Limewire alone. Theres loads of other filesharing programmes. **** the bands n'd singers that were stealin money off, the've got enough!
Phube Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 Put them all in prison I say... Let us legal types get on with our lives!!!
Tomassi Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 put them all in prison on a desert island... we would have so little traffic on the roads then
Rincewind Posted 24 October 2007 Posted 24 October 2007 I think the only ones that they want are the ones who make copies then sell them on. Some copies are OK but the majority are poor quality. It is a kind of fraud but if the user is happy then they should not complain. It's illegal enterprise that can cause harm and financial loss to a lot of people. We all want the best quality for the least outlay. That is looking after number one.
Darkzzz_ Posted 24 October 2007 Author Posted 24 October 2007 Put them all in prison I say...Let us legal types get on with our lives!!! Phube you certainly live by the book dont you.... I am not worried about it like others say they will go after the source... but there is so many of them and a lot dont care.... if you go to pirate bay and read there legal threats page they just dont give a fook.... Ha ha...
