An unbelieveable appointment by Bolton, who could have guessed that Megson would be out of work for 15 months, before suddenly getting a job at a desperate Championship club. He did basically bugger-all for a couple of months, then gets recruited as the saviour of a Premier League club. Absolute madness.

Here's the thing, I couldn't care less if Megson had stayed or not, the fact is, Mandaric has dictated the terms of managing Leicester City. He's now 2 managers into the 20 he said he'd be prepared to go through to get the club back to the Premier League. I don't even know where to start describing how stupid that statement was. Look at his record at Pompey (Alain Perrin anyone?), look at the appointment of Martin Allen (did he do ANY research into Allen, did he ask ANYONE in the game about the man's character, did he demand ANY references???), and look at that "20 managers" statement. Forget feeling sorry for Mandaric, he got lucky with Harry Redknapp at Pompey and had to beg him to return to protect their Premier League status, so he could sell the club to someone far richer than himself.

Mandaric is small fry financially in the grand scheme of things, and he just hasn't got a clue. Which manager of true quality would want to touch us with a barge pole? Has he got that many contacts overseas, cos so far he's attracted Sergio Hellings and Hossain Kaebi!!

This is a sad day. Not losing Megson, just seeing our club descend into farce. Another season written off. What has Mandaric done since he took over that has convinced anyone on this board that he knows how to run a Football club?

Rant over...

Welcome.

An excellent user name, and a post to match!:thumbup::thumbup:

Don't expect too many answers to your question any time soon, though..

People yap on about Perrin at Portsmouth, but on paper it seemed a very good appointment, and the guy has flourished since he returned to France, and after winning the FA Cup with Sochaux, he's now managing Lyon. Sometimes great players or managers cannot adapt to the English style (Hernan Crespo, Juan Veron and Shecvchenko spring to mind).

I voted for Collins but doubt severley that he'll get the job.

Shevchenko, don't speak to soon :D

Though look at the Arsenal team with only 2 English players (Hoyte, Walcott).

I had a chat with Simon Grayson at The Belfry a couple of weeks ago. He was in the locker room and I said hello and told him I was Leicester fan blah blah....he said he just had to go and sort out paying for him and his mate but he'd come back and have a word. I didn't think he would come back but he did sat down with me and we chatted for about ten minutes about the old days at Leicester, about him managing Blackpool and him doing a job on us first day of the season. What came through was that the guy had a lot of time for the club, loved his time at Leicester and realised how fed up the fans were.

Not saying he's the right man but seemed a bloke who knows where he's going and just might be the right time for him to come here possibly with Taggart and Walsh.

I hope Taggart does well on Saturday (enough for us to beat Barnsley), but wouldn't want him to get the gig on a permanent basis.

Our last in-house appointment was Rob Kelly, and look how successful that turned out to be..

PLEASE do not appoint Gerry Taggart Milan. A man who struggled to get his coaching badges, yes he has passion but transferring that passion to this set of players is a near impossible task. I'd hate to see his good reputation at Leicester go down the pan because he isn't a good enough manager too, same principal applies with Walshie.

Agreed about Perrin, but Velimr Zajec, Graham Rix and (dare I say considering my log-in name, Stevie C??...

Why do people keep suggesting Steve Walsh? Just because he's passionate doesn't mean he'd make a good manager. The fat bloke that sits near me is very passionate, but he's as thick as pigshit with it.

Walshie may have been a great servant to the club, but so was that laundry lady who the players paid the wages of when we were in administration, and I don't see anyone offering her the job

A well made point.

Managers should be appointed on merit and their aptitude for the job, not out of overblown nostalgia. I can't really blame people for mentioning him, desperate times and all that. But let's get some perspective - Walsh could well do a job for Leicester (in a Birchenall type role maybe) but it certainly shouldn't be as manager.

Well said... we should get someone who is both passionate and tactically astute. :D

pretty much anyone other than Hoddle or Reid would be satisfactory. Not sure why, but ive always thought Gary McAllister would make a good manager. Obviously didnt happen for him at Coventry, but he knows his stuff, was a great player, would command immediate respect from the players, i imagine would try to make his teams play the game like he did, i.e carpet football, and has previous links with us. Ticks alot of boxes. Could have Ali Mauchlin as his number two. Dream team ! Just thought id throw his name into the melting pot as havnt seen his name mentioned so far. A serious contender.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Micky Adams would be like with money, with the bit of money he had for us last time he bought David Connolly and he did ok for us.
