Raj Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 One good has come out of this intense arguement. I am no longer on Milky Joes Mr T stating"Quit your Jibba Jabba Raj" Thank fcuk for that!
Kent Fox Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Have you resorted to pedantry already? Christ alive, matey, it's only page five. Where's Kent Fox gone? Checking whether or not MJ was actually being padantic ir not. I don't think pedantry is the correct terminology, Sonny fcuking Jim!! I hate all this SON and SONNY JIM crap! Blah, Blah.."I think there's this huge culture in England, especially in sport, to really, really play on the fact that you think the whole world hates you." Where's the sweeping generalisation? I said there's a sizable culture in the sport, and I feel there is. I'd be surprised to hear you disagree. You're going to honestly, straight faced, deny that it's pretty common to hear English sporting fans bemoaning the belief that "everyone" in sport is out to get them? It's almost part of the English character in sport, that sort of, everyone's-out-to-get-us-but-we-don't-care sort of attitude. I'm not necessarily meaning that as an insult, just as a commentary on what I've observed... whilst living in England. Blah, Blah, digging sound heard... And yes, yes I am arrogant. Don't like it? Stop responding, I'll soon get bored and stop pulling your short and curlies. Just because you say "I think" does not imply a generalisation?? In your 'thought' it does. Therefore, if you are making a generalisation, whether you 'think' or not, in your own words, you should be able to back up that thought / opinion with fact. As you say, you are well read. And Finners, I know what you Welsh are like with sheep (sweeping generalisation ), you really should not be anywhere near my pubes! Son
Finnegan Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 You... have sheep pubes? But no. Saying "there's a culture in English sport..." is a bit different to saying "all English people think..."
Kent Fox Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 One good has come out of this intense arguement.I am no longer on Milky Joes Mr T stating"Quit your Jibba Jabba Raj" Thank fcuk for that! Hey, Raj. Can I have a signature that says " Nor do I" or "Raj stole my signature"??
Milky Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 One good has come out of this intense arguement.I am no longer on Milky Joes Mr T stating"Quit your Jibba Jabba Raj" Thank fcuk for that! I'll have to try and slip you in somewhere.
Kent Fox Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 You... have sheep pubes? But no. Saying "there's a culture in English sport..." is a bit different to saying "all English people think..." All English people DO think. They think, therefore gather an opinion. That opinion is right to them, and a certain amount of the population that would agree. If an opinion is right, it is easy then to make a generalisation. That's what you do. That's what you did with the 'I live in England' rubbish. And who says "there's a culture...."? Someone must say it. Therefore it is an opinion - it cannot be fact as no evidence is available to prove the fact. And as I said, an opinion can be generalised. So the difference is mention is not so different. It is a different interpretation of the word 'Generalisation'. Do I sheep have pubes? You asked if I had them, so you must know. It's in your genes and not your fault EDIT REASON: Too drunk to see screen and keyboard anymore.
Raj Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Hey, Raj.Can I have a signature that says " Nor do I" or "Raj stole my signature"?? YES! Yes you bloody well can Kenty! I'll have to try and slip you in somewhere. Ooooohhhh saucy!!!!

Hullfox Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Having Lived in England, Scotland and Wales and being English, I can hereby confim the following. I watch England play football whenever I can, mainly away. I support them, I am very patriotic towards my country. Never in my life could I support Scotland in anything they do. Neither could I support the Welsh Rugby team, I could however cheer on their footballers. The logic behind this? there is none other than the venom that I have enountered on a personal basis whilst in the two countries at varying times and sporting events. Is it rational? No. Am I generalising a nation based on my own limited experiences? Yes. Do I give a fook? Absolutely not. Tomorrow I am Italian. Good Night all.
Bert Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 How brilliant will it be if we qualify and the socks don't?
Brainy Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 How brilliant will it be if we qualify and the socks don't? ace As long as McClaren isn't here next summer.
Nath Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 How brilliant will it be if we qualify and the socks don't? Now that would be the dog's bollocks!
MPH Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 would like them to qualify but we will never hear the end of it if we dont and they do... I remember quite a few years ago when we didnt qualify for the world cup and Rep. of ireland did... Stupidly i chose that time to go visit my brother in Dublin.. we went for some drinks and were surrounded very soon by a group of very drunk, yet completly harmless irish guys... they just ripped into us in a funny kind of way. i just told them that it was ' nice to see our reserve side get there instead'
Ultra Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 would like them to qualify but we will never hear the end of it if we dont and they do... And why shouldn't we? It would be a fantastic achievement for them to qualify from a group that contains the World Cup winners, runners-up AND a team that made the last eight. They would go into the finals as serious contenders, something they've probably NEVER been before in a major tournament. Meanwhile the so-called "golden generation" would be lying on some exotic beaches with their WAGS and their bling, wondering how they could have cheated their fans so badly..
ASH17LCFC Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 I think if Scotland let in a early goal today, they will get tonked 4-0. They need to score really early on to have any chance of winning today
Micky Ruddle Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Good for the home nations. For me...not bothered, not interested After England, Rep. of Ireland then the Philippines** *And they aren't even in this! Shows how much i care about Scots. My mother's beloved home country, oh how i wish they would enter the World Cup one year
Brainy Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 I bet there's gonna be some people today at Hampden who will be keeping a close eye on the Israel game ready to laugh at England, instead of supporting their own country.
Simi Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 I bet there's gonna be some people today at Hampden who will be keeping a close eye on the Israel game ready to laugh at England, instead of supporting their own country. I bet there isn't. Are you really that stupid?
Nath Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 I bet there isn't. Are you really that stupid? I think all eye's and ear's of the Scots' will be securely fixed on their match.
Brainy Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 I bet there isn't. Are you really that stupid? Why does it make me stupid? Come off it, of course there'd be some.
Simi Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 The guy singing that national anthem shouting "come on" in between lines. **** me, the noise is incredible.
Nath Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Why does it make me stupid? Come off it, of course there'd be some. There won't This game mean's more to them than Israel Vs Russia
Simi Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Why does it make me stupid? Come off it, of course there'd be some. I find it really hard to believe they will be thinking of us throughout what is sure to be a nail biting match for them.
