As I've said three or four times, Elvis is still a novice footballer as far as League football is concerned yet despite such spasmodic appearances has scored 8 times in 58 appearances for City and an improving 6 in 19 starts last season.

A great many of Hammond's appearances have been as a substitute and I imagine his eight goals came in the equivalent of 25-28 full matches, that's around a goal every 3/3.5 matches.

That equates to an annual 16 goals a season which I've always thought the lower end of acceptable for a striker and which has only been threatened by Hume in recent seasons. Hammond has generally been under used and under appreciated at Leicester.

Football doesn't work like that!

You can't equate to an annual figure. We've seen so many players score 5-10 goals in quick time, then go on a drought for dozens of games.

You can't work it like that, it actually has to be done, in real life, on paper.

hilarious stuff. If Hammond was to score 16 goals in a season he'd need in the region of 70 - 80 thousand chances. By my estimations around 69 - 79 thousand of those chances would be comically sliced high, wide and/or handsome. He can disrupt teams with his pace but he's technically woefull.

There's a reason why he isn't in the team. Not good enough.

Oh yeah, he's injured too.

Despite being a very poor player, a lot of the outragous stick he gets on this board is really uncalled for though.

True. Even when he's not been featured for a months, he still gets slagged off!

If he can't play at 27 when is he going to be able to play?

The guy isn't good enough, if you want to go up elvis isn't the answer.

Maybe a doctor prescribed him crutches to aid his gangster lean.

That's not a lean.. it's his innate and demonstrable natural inclination towards goals.

Where there is Elvis, there is goals.

He's like Doddsy, he is - that's part of his problem - too damn good'a footballer for this hoof-a-plenty club.

Like saucepans they are... good ones. Heavy ones.. you never feel like the handle is going to come off. Good saucepans in a world where each successive manager is cooking with a skillet, paw-fashioned by a blind lion in the Congo. It wasn't acceptable when I were a boy and it sure damn right damn sure ain't half-way acceptable now.

My wife agrees. She doesn't understand though. Stupid woman.
