The Holloway Bandwagon

Mandaric states in tonights Mercury that he has not approached ANY club regarding their manager.

If this is the case then it must be someone currently out of work.

The big question is Who?

He also goes on to state that it's important to get the right man, but there is not a lot of choice at the moment.

Doesn't exactly sound promising, seems as if he is beginning to clutch at straws.

Let's just hope that whoever it is, is given a chance to give us the promotion winning team we all long for.

He states that he has identified his target and hopes to have him in place for this weekend.

My guess is Souness.

Didn't Radio Leicester mention last night that a manager would be appointed within the next 48 hours? That would make it tomorrow.

*Yawn* I'm getting fecking fed up with all this managerial bollocks.

I think Ollie will stay, Dowie is going to Leicester ;)

Well, that would do for me.

I wish he'd make his fooking mind up, Last week he was talking to manager's in job's, not he's not even approached any, maybe it the media putting words in Milan's mouth, but it's getting really pathetic, and really annoying as a fan now.

Although as I have been saying all the way through this saga, You really have to ask the question who would want to come here?! If there in a job there obviously doing a good job so why would they want to come here and potentially ruin the CV by risking the sack from a temperamental chairman OR ruin there CV at the average player's we have here (There always a potential risk whatever club people go to though!)

And if there out of work the majority of time there out of a job for a reason (Because there Shite, Or not wanting to be a in a job)

Some may say a manager may come to a new job for a challenge - Leicester's more than a challenge.

To be honest, I think all these sites are talking bollocks

Thats what you want to think. You are a Plymouth fan and therefore biased, just like we are city fans and therefore also biased. Looking at it from an unbiased perspectvie and having read many news articles on this from lots of different sources I would say that at the moment it's all speculation. Different co-orporations are saying different things and they are changing they're story all the time. The only time we will get too know if it's true or not is when there is a posting on either clubs offical site. So far there has been nothing from either. Make of that what you will.

Exactly, Example - Coventry, I'm sure when Dowie was a strong link to us, Coventry put a statement out of the website saying Dowie was going nowhere they have turned down a bid.

I'm not 100% sure that happened but something sticks in my mind saying it did.

Equally if Milan was talking to Holloway you would think Plymouth (Or Leicester) would put a statement on the website announcing Plymouth have gave Leicester permission to talk to Holloway. Example - When MK Don's agreed to let us talk to Martin Allen.

So there's arguments for both parties, However if I was chairman/something to do with Plymouth, I'd be wanted to reassure fans by putting out a statement there has been no contact/contact which was declined regarding Ian Holloway.

This does not mean i'm saying Holloway is coming, I'm just trying to put a few things into perspective.

Exactly what I was thinking, proof that it is possible to look at things from an unbiased perspective. Unlike our Plymouth supporting freind.

Have heard that Milan has had a Tombola delivered.

He's going to put all the names in, give it a spin, then pull one out.

If he doesn't like the result he'll throw it back in and go for the best out of three goes option.

On the ITV local news it has just said that Milan will announce a manager either tomorrow or on thursday.

I watched the report too and it was reported that they thought Milan would announce the new manager either tomorrow or thursday - so they clearly havent got a clue.

I did hear a report on the radio that said that Holloway had a two hour meeting with his chairman this morning and was then seen boarding a plane with his assistant. Is there an airport near Plymouth - I dont know, where was the flight headed to?? East Midlands?? Your guess is as good as mine.

I do think Milan saying yesterday that Holloway is not in his plans and then if it does turn out that he is appointed is out of order. He could have been a little more diplomatic in his answer than saying what he did.

Milan was probally after who ever is gonna be our next manager before but had to settle for Megson. I hope this time Milan gets his choice spot on. Still doesn't anyone think Holloway and Allen share the same kinda attuide ? They both love talking to the press and making great headlines. They both love player motivation and both love the never say die spirit.

I would rather have Tigana because he is more of a tactical kind of manager and loves playing good passing football on the floor.

Do we know what kind of football Holloway plays? Would be intersting to know.

Plymouth has it's own little airport, but they don't fly to EMA, only Manchester, Bristol. Leeds/Bratford and some other shite places!

Diplomacy is not his strong point!

I think he was about as diplomatic as he could be. He could have perhaps praised Holloway instead of completely denying interested... but that would still arouse suspicions that Holloway was the prime target. And he couldn't really say "Yeah, I fancy that Holloway chap for a shot at the big time" could he? Not without approaching the club first.

He did say he didn't want to rock the boat elsewhere... revealing your hitlist before approaching anyone surely isn't conducive to keeping the good ship Championship steady.

It's been mentioned several times in this thread

And here: http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/displayNod...;pNodeId=133182

THE PLYMOUTH Argyle players are in the dark over the future of manager Ian Holloway, who is being widely tipped to take over at Championship rivals Leicester City.

The Pilgrims' squad reported back for training this morning after four days off because of the current international break. Many of the players left Home Park between 12.30pm and 1pm and it is understood they had not been told anything by the club about the speculation surrounding Holloway.

Neither Holloway nor assistant manager Tim Breacker took today's training session at a rain-soaked Harper's Park.

However, it is believed Breacker has travelled to Kent to watch Argyle midfielder Dan Gosling play for England under-18s against Ghana in a friendly at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium.

The players were put through their paces today by Argyle's first team coach Des Bulpin, goalkeeping coach Geoff Crudgington and physio Paul Maxwell.

Holloway was in his office at Home Park this morning but it is thought he was not at the ground at lunchtime. The 44-year-old has been still unavailable for comment today.

There has also been no official comment from Argyle and Leicester about the rumours of Holloway's impending appointment.

One national newspaper today claimed Leicester owner Milan Mandaric was ready to offer Holloway a £400,000-a-year and pay Argyle £250,000 in compensation for luring him away from Home Park.

I think this is looking very likely now! Whereas rumours like Tigana never really got going, this one has really started to snowball. Looks like Holloway will be our new man. I have split feelings over this, on one side I wanted an exciting name like Jewell or Tigana but realistically Holloway isn't a bad choice and I'm sure he will stabalise the club. Just hope we can move on from there.
