Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 I hope we sign Ricardo Fuller. I'm fully aware Holloway has never signed him, I just say this every now and then to piss Manwell off.
City Fan Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 So when will this be officially announced? Weds? Thurs?
The People's Hero Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 I hope we sign Ricardo Fuller.I'm fully aware Holloway has never signed him, I just say this every now and then to piss Manwell off. Yeah - all the better if it's a double swoop for Fuller and Stephen Crainey.
mancunianfox Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Agreed, we only gambled on this scenario with Martin Allen a few months ago, and most of his signings failed to make the team. I'm hoping we're not foolishly making the same mistake twice. Holloway has already proven that he is pretty good in the transfer market. Peter Halmosi, Ebanks-Blake, Lee Martin and Scott Sinclair to name a few could all improve our side imo.
Wycombe Fox Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...2892891,00.html Ollie wants Foxes talks Plymouth Argyle boss Ian Holloway has reportedly asked permission to speak to Leicester, amid speculation he is their top managerial target. According to Sky Sports News, Holloway is understood to "have had his head turned" by the Foxes' interest and has been deep in talks with Argyle chairman Paul Stapleton at Home Park on Tuesday. Foxes owner Milan Mandaric insisted on Monday that he had not made an official approach to any club for their manager, while Stapleton claimed it was business as normal at the Devon outfit. However, various press reports on Tuesday morning stated Mandaric had identified Holloway as the man he wants to take charge at the Walkers Stadium. And the rumours were intensified further when it emerged Holloway and his assistant Tim Breacker missed training at Argyle's Harper's Park ground on Tuesday. Mandaric is apparently prepared to pay Argyle £250,000 in compensation and hand 44-year-old Holloway a £400,000-a-year salary. The Serbian tycoon wants to make an appointment before Saturday's Championship clash at Bristol City, and admits there is "a sense of urgency" at the east Midlands club. He told the Leicester Mercury: "Hopefully I can get this done by the weekend. I am working towards that, but it's not easy. "I'm looking for someone to stamp his authority on the players in terms of how they play and what tactics we use. "It's important to get the right guy, but there's not a lot of choice at the moment." Mandaric is understood to have failed in a bid to convince out-of-work Paul Jewell to swap the golf course for a training-ground return just yet. Coventry's Iain Dowie and Blackpool's Simon Grayson are the other names in the frame, but until a further statement from either Leicester or Argyle, Holloway will continue to be tipped to change jobs by the end of the week.
ohmy6od2 Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 So when will this be officially announced? Weds? Thurs? I don't know mate. My man is saying that Holloway is holding the deal up over salary, but this was this morning when we last spoke. Looking at more recent media stories, i.e Holloway not taking training, or his asst, and now on SSN Holloway saying the possible move has made his head turn etc etc etc, I can only presume things have moved on. One thing is for sure, and regardless what anyone is saying, the clubs have agreed compensation.
Daggers Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 I had a dream with that other job and that was to get that club, my club, into the Premier League. I damn-near did it, but some ugly words that are creeping into football these days stopped me. Now, what I mean by that is … Greed, Selfishness and I'm talking about people at the top, because football clubs don't belong to them, they belong to the people… people like yourselves, who get the club tattooed on their shoulders or on other parts of their body, who spent all their money - all week working hard for their money. Who say to their wives 'come on love we're going down the R's, or going away, or going up to Northampton. I'm gonna spend all this fortune on my team'. Full speech I like the man. He may not be the best manager in the world - but he'll be the best manager we have this season.
lookwhaticando Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Breaking News -- Argyle players: "We know nothing"
Daggers Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Breaking News -- "People in Plymouth know nothing" The state of education in the South-West may be deplorable but it is hardly relevant to the managerial situation.
Ric Flair Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Holloway has already proven that he is pretty good in the transfer market. Peter Halmosi, Ebanks-Blake, Lee Martin and Scott Sinclair to name a few could all improve our side imo. Plus he's still getting plenty out of Nalis, which surprises me no end.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Yes - they are in Ilfracombe's division though.Barnstaple are dirty. They live on a staple diet of barns. That's how filthy they are. I bought some Space Lego in Barnstaple once FACT. And that's about as close to a fact as we can get in this thread

I wonder whether Holloway is putting pressure on Plymouth to match Leicester's contract offer, I think we might be being played by Holloway.
Nationwider Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Tiverton Town are real, I'm sure. They could be the Devon-based XI for moi. I hope they play in orange. Up the Tivvies!
The People's Hero Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 I wonder whether Holloway is putting pressure on Plymouth to match Leicester's contract offer, I think we might be being played by Holloway. I can't grumble seeing as we're doing exactly that. Also the amount of people we've led down the garden path with resignations and subsequently not getting the city job, perhaps we deserve this.
Fat Ron Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 I wonder whether Holloway is putting pressure on Plymouth to match Leicester's contract offer, I think we might be being played by Holloway. A very good point. He isnt going to make the same mistake as he did when at QPR, he is looking out for himself and to be fair, I cant blame him. He has openly stated that he loves Plymouth (**** knows why, its a sh*t hole of a place) and maybe he is just looking for reassurance from the Pasty board.

Manwell Pablo Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 I hope we sign Ricardo Fuller.I'm fully aware Holloway has never signed him, I just say this every now and then to piss Manwell off. Alex, post some pictures of him crawling on the floor.
Wycombe Fox Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 I'm 99.9% convinced that Ian Holloway will be in charge by Saturday and I do hereby declare that, as the Tigana approach seems to have gone cold, I'd be happy with the appointment. No doubt within 6 weeks that statement will rear up and bite me very painfully on the buttocks!!

In six weeks he'll have been poached by Middlesbrough.

MM interviewd Tigana apparently. And yet seems to have gone for Holloway regardless.
The People's Hero Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 MM interviewd Tigana apparently. And yet seems to have gone for Holloway regardless. That's because Tigana is almost an anagram of 'attacking'. Although actually, now I look at it, it's not.
Raj Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 MM interviewd Tigana apparently. And yet seems to have gone for Holloway regardless. Tigana thought Leicester was near London. When he was invited to visit and his Sat Nav took him North of Watford he did a U turn and has not been seen since.... So i've heard!
Daggers Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Bovey Tracey AFC kick ass! BTAFC is no longer “just a football clubâ€, we are much more than that. We have become an important part of the local community, with over 200 local people involved in football at Bovey every weekend, either playing, watching, coaching, training, or using the Club facilities.
PAFC Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Holloway will never join a worse club than Plymouth and he loves it down here in Plymouth. Believe what you want but he won't be coming to Leicester. And whoever said Cherno Samba to Leicester you can have him he is currently looking for a new club and is available for free. Welcome my friend
