I think its disgusting that Gary Neville has not managed to score for England in 85 caps... I mean for **** sake Micheal Owen has scored 40 goals and he has only played 3 games more??? It just doesnt work out to me?!?!

Joe. Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 At the moment, give me Kaebi on the right any day ahead of what we've currently got. He seemed to put in a good showing the other night, much more than what could be said about our other right wingers this season. Let's look at the other options we've got: Newton- I don't need to say much about it. When we signed him on a permanent I wondered why we'd done it. And my suspicions were correct, he's done nothing in a way of a positive contribution for us. It seems he's still living off one good game last season. Stearman- Sometimes played down the right when required to fill in. In my opinion not good enough as a right back let alone a right winger. Hume- Would prefer to see him up front and not stranded out on the right. Does a decent job on the wing but like I say, I think he's more effective up front. Chambers- Another possibility for the right wing position but again, he's a forward and currently unexperienced. Wouldn't grumble if he did get a start on the right but for now I'd prefer Kaebi. So overall with what we have it seems Kaebi is easily the most practical and natural solution we have to this right wing issue.

When Sheehan was in the reserves and playing left back he scored or helped to make goals regularly. Are we lowering expectations for Kaebi for some reason? Because I've never seen anything like that from Kaebi on the right flank. Not even in one of his various games. Doubtless sod's law will say he'll effect something at Hull and I hope he does cos we desperately need it. But based on what he's done so far it will come as a new and pleasant change.

I've inserted the word "wing" if it makes you feel happier although the role varied slightly from game to game. And you're point is only deflecting from the reality anyway. Sheehan generally played a very similar role on the left to that which Kaebi was given on the right and Kaebi has not been the least bit dangerous. In fact he has struggled so much to do the wing-back job that he's latterly been played either as a full-back or a outside midfielder rather than both.

But Gary Neville has played his part in creating stacks of goals not just with his passing but with his brilliant forward runs to help make space. I'd happily settle for Kaebi doing that.

I'm not getting involved in discussions about Alan bloody Sheehan again and I don't know whether it was you that started talking about him again but I'm sick of him. This thread is about Kaebi. Promising start in a problem position for us this season. He needs a run of games to adapt to the pace of the Championship and Holloway's expectations of him. Of course knee-jerk reactions will be made on here as always but hopefully we will start to reap the benefits of Kaebi's positive attributes soon.

Because Sheehan doesn't need time to adapt to a new way of playing, new language, new culture etc etc, Sheehan was trying to impress in the reserves where as Kaebi will probabley be wondering why he's been forced to play in the stiffs (alot of first team players fail to really stand out in reserve teams once they've played first team football alot) and because Sheehan doesn't have 55 caps for his country. Oh, and Sheehan has nothing to do with this. Why does everything come back to Sheehan.

Stearman has 2 Goals in 17 starts, De Vries has 1 goal in 5 Starts, by the logic shown on here De Vries would have scored at least 3 in 17 starts even at right back...

See your point.... a) I've pointed out many times that Elvis Hammond scored more goals than Fryatt last season - and six more (+ reserves goals) than Kaebi's managed so far at any level with Leicester cos his score is zero. b) I've often said I'd use Hammond on the right of a front three rather than specifically as a striker to give us the pace and strength we lack. Kaebi has pace but he doesn't have strength and is demonstrably less likely to score than Elvis. c) I've mentioned several times that I didn't expect Hammond to be here this season because I doubted he'd be good enough for the intended set up this year and, that being the case, how good does that make Kaebi in respect of the first team? Shame you didnt make it clear in your earlier post...
