Kaebi Farts!

Have already posted elsewhere but for those interested...

...whilst be no means looking the world-beater that some seem to think he is, he at least showed some promise that if used in the right way could be an asset to this club. Problem was his team-mates didnt seem to trust him enough with the ball, twice in the first half he made great runs down the right only for the player on the ball to ignore him and switch the ball the other way into a congested part of he pitch. He needs to hug the touchline a bit more and play as a winger, his pace could make him an excellent outlet on the break for an early ball over the top of the defence. But his team-mates need to trust him and learn to exploit his abilities. \

Was a bit worried when after the sending off he switched to right back...had Thrac's dire warnings of his liabilities as a right back ringing through my head...but handled it ok and thankfully a switch at half time had him back at right mid. As expected his tackling is enthusiastic and a bit hit and miss, and his slight stature doesnt help him in a physical contest...but clearly has some abilities that most of our players do not, as shown in one surging run through the middle in the second half.

So he did ok, lets just hope his confidence grows, his team-mates learn to play with him...and we might just have a player after all. And hurrah to that! :scarf:

Much better said than i could have done - but, yes, I agree with all of this. The lack of trust from his team-mates was the thing I found most noticeable and concerning.

I get the feeling he hasn't integrated very well. Holloway said he hasn't spoken to anyone. :blink:lol Also tallies with the players not passing to him in certain situations.

Our players wouldn't recognise a decent run if they saw it in fact any intelligent move or even one at pace and they'd think aliens had landed.

I got the same feeling when King played his first few games and I still get it when Hayes plays perhaps that's why he wanders all over the pitch.

Question: Do the first team ever practice with the reserves because they never play for them when returnung from injury?

Go Keebs!! Definitely a starter at RM with Chambers at RB for the next game, hopefully now he's made his full debut the other players can learn to trust him and unleash his potential

lets start a new debate... Wheres Ferreira :protest:

He's gawn! Or at least he has according to OS. Still no sign of that american teen who we imported?? Marcus someone?

Sounds like he did ok. And i'm glad, with a 4 or 5 game run, hopefully we will see the best of him.

Hes an intelligent footballer, which is a shame because as others have pointed out, we have about the least intelligent football team in the football league- players like McAuley, Kisnorbo, Kenton, good at what they do they may be, but they are'nt ''footballers''.

We only have one or two intelligent footballers, Hume and Fryatt. Its a shame, but Holloway sounded positive so im sure the lad will do well.

He didn't get enough of the ball last night due to the ineptitude of the middle two and the piss poor distribution of the centre back pairing but when he did get it he used the ball effectively,VERY quick and looks like the kind of push past and go sort of winger given the time and confidence that we need. I was impressed, the boys got some touches!

Yes

Give me Chambers at RB with Kaebi in front over any other combination down the right you can think of currently at the club

Presumably you're not counting Max Gradel as being at the club! Cos in the 10 games I've known Kaebi to be involved in I can only recall him having two or three shots all told and none of them looked like being goals.

Our lack of goals from both wings is a serious problem and I really cannot understand why we've failed to find a solution. Porter is out for the season, Hayes is a bit fragile but blows hot and cold anyway and the right wing is so bad it's hard to remember us scoring from there for years.

Sylla, Low, Maybury, Hughes, Yeates, Stearman, Chambers, Hume, Kaebi ... have they scored two goals between them when selected in the right wing position over a combined total of four seasons? I don't know for sure but would have my doubts.

It wouldn't surprise me if our goals/assists from that flank over the period mentioned was the worst in the Football League. Perhaps the worst in football ever!

I'm sure we have, not much more though :ermm:

All this support you show for the young players im starting to think your John Rudkin :giggle:

Sorry, not guilty.

But I do think it funny how much clamour there is for a guy who's done so little in his matches to date and yet there's hardly a whimper of support for a player who's been here years and scored/made so many goals.

Okay Gradel's only played in Division One. But that's a lot of leagues higher than Kaebi's been playing most of the time this season and Gradel got a 10 rating in one match.

How many players have we had in any position get a 10 rating in the last decade? And a standing ovation from opposition fans as well as his own?

Now, of course, people will claim I think he's a superstar. I don't. He's raw as can be. He's temperamental. He blows hot and cold. In a better club he wouldn't be ready. But a more dangerous winger than Kaebi, Newton or Chambers? No contest from all I've seen.

Just out of interest I'd love to know how many goals Kaebi has scored in senior football. In fact in football generally. Where's Manwell when you need him? :D

In fairness, all people were asking for was to give him a chance. I watched him a few times in the reserves and he didn't particularly stand out for me. Nevertheless, he got his chance and by the sound of it he did OK against Ipswich and Ollie is also full of praise of him (not that I expected anything else).

Gradel defintely deserves a chance.

Gradel certainly does deserve a chance.

Too be honest i think they would struggle to get a 10 rating between them if it wasnt for fulop and occasionally sheehan.

By the way i didnt mean to put that quote in lmao

stearman has scored this season, and hume has got one while playing on the right. Bit silly including people like kaebi who has had one game.

Count Kaebi's reserve games by all means.

My comment wasn't an individual attack on Kaebi anyway. It was an attack on our management which, over such an incredible period of time, has failed to sign anyone who can do the job of a right winger.

We simply cannot hope to be successful if we carry on failing to score/create goals from so many places in our side. Especially attacking places.

Gradel would be in the side if he wasn't out on loan. The only reason people haven't been mentioning him this season is because he is on a season-long loan. Hopefully the experience will cut out some of his less desirable attributes and mould him into a decent player for next season.

Posted

I'd like to see Gradel get a chance too when he comes back

In his absence,I'd still take the Chambesr behind Kaebi combo at the moment to answer Thracian's question.

Not least of the reasons being that watching too many players playing out of position for us in midfield and out wide frustrates the hell out of me

Ollie has given everyone a chance now, and nows the time for no more excuses... hes seen most of the players, and he should know his starting 11 by now. Gradel wouldve had his chance by now if he hadnt of gone out on loan, but hes still young and the experience will be good for him

When it comes to undesirable attributes there's nothing worse for attackers than failing to score or make goals. I can cope with the other problems.

You say this - but then whenever anyone even mentions Elvis Hammond you go off on one about how scoring and making goals isn't important.

Your opinion changes with the wind.
