Thracian Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 You say this - but then whenever anyone even mentions Elvis Hammond you go off on one about how scoring and making goals isn't important.Your opinion changes with the wind. a) I've pointed out many times that Elvis Hammond scored more goals than Fryatt last season - and six more (+ reserves goals) than Kaebi's managed so far at any level with Leicester cos his score is zero. b) I've often said I'd use Hammond on the right of a front three rather than specifically as a striker to give us the pace and strength we lack. Kaebi has pace but he doesn't have strength and is demonstrably less likely to score than Elvis. c) I've mentioned several times that I didn't expect Hammond to be here this season because I doubted he'd be good enough for the intended set up this year and, that being the case, how good does that make Kaebi in respect of the first team? As usual, to try to make your points, you quote selectively and conveniently forget anything else that detracts from what you say.
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 I'm demonstrably right and you're demonstrably wrong.
Fat Ron Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 I thought Kaebi was a right back or at best a right winger???? Why is there a debate about him scoring more or less than Hammond?

Elvis Hammonds goal ratio is terrible when he starts up front so god knows what will be like if we start him on the wing

The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 How is this demonstrably so? It's a reflex mechanism... he automatically says it when he's about to lie.
Thracian Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Elvis Hammonds goal ratio is terrible when he starts up front so god knows what will be like if we start him on the wing I'd take your bet any day if you think Kaebi would score more than Hammond over, say, 10 games, from the right of a front three. Not that I expect either will get chance to put the theory to the test.
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 But we don't know - and as you point out, the theory is unlikely to get put to the test. As it hasn't been demonstrated, it's clearly isn't 'demonstrably true', is it?
Simon Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 It's a reflex mechanism... he automatically says it when he's about to lie. Ah there was me thinking it meant that he could prove it... Thrac, I can't understand what your problem with Kaebi is? Hammond's had a number of chances in the first team and I'll grant that his pace can cause defences problems, but not on a regular enough basis. But he's had his (copious number of) chances and Kaebi's had how many? Unlike a few on here I don't hail Kaebi as the Second Coming or anything of the sort, but I do think he deserves a run in the first team to have a stab at proving his credentials. Doesn't that sound fair to you? And please don't even try to argue with me that so should Gradel, because I already agree with you, but he's at Bournemouth and we can't do anything about that.
Tommy G Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 I'm demonstrably right and you're demonstrably wrong. You always seem to think 'your' right. Its about opinions.. your constant slatings of Thracians opinions is , if he says something correct then you will still argue. Same goes for ultra. Let it drop it's boring.

Simon, you're the last in a long line of brave men with sound minds and a decent grasp on logic, reason and reality. But he operates on a different plane Simon. It's not a plane I want to visit, but I suppose as years progress... well, you know how it can go once you retire and the brain doesn't get the same stimulation....

Same goes for ultra. Let it drop it's boring. I'm not slating his opinion. I'm arguing that whilst he constantly refers to things which are 'demonstrably true' - in 90% of cases, they are not demonstrably true and have in fact not been put to test at all. As for your attitude, you can stick it mate. You accusing me of being boring is somewhat akin to Hitler accusing me of having something of an issue with Jews.
Thracian Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 How is this demonstrably so? Because Kaebi's scored zero in around 10 reserves matches so far - mostly on the right side - while Elvis netted six times from 19 first team starts and almost every time when he played for the reserves. While TPH acknowledges that a test is unlikely in the first team, the demonstration of either's likelihood to score has been plain to see in the past. But you good fans carry on. If you think Kaebi is the answer to us getting those goals I shall just sit back, relax, and look forward to it happening.

Fat Ron Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Im still at a loss to how the goalscoring attributes of a Right back can be compared to a striker?? Anyone care to enlighten me??????? Please
The People's Hero Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 What's strange is that we're still having problems! It wasn't so long ago that Andy King was being mooted as the answer to all of our problems! Bizarre.

Not exactly a position for free-scoring no matter who you are. Play Hammond at right back for 10 games, see how many he gets. Please try to compare like with like. We'll never know how many Kaebi would score as the right side of a front three as it won't happen for the simple reason he isn't a forward, just like Hammond won't play 10 reserve matches mainly at left or right back. This is pure nonsense.
Manager Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 I'm not slating his opinion." in 90% of cases, they are not demonstrably true and have in fact not been put to test at all. Er- is this 90% demonstrably/intuitively/factually/statistically true or just hyperbole? I agree with all of you - by the way.

Hammond's injured anyway so is not even under consideration. As for Kaebi getting a chance I've already put Kaebi in my preferred team for Hull - not because I think he's the answer on our right but because we've not got much in the way of options. I'm not sure we couldn't get Gradel back. There seems to be some confusion about the precise nature of his loan. Whether the club wants him back is another matter, what with Newton and Kaebi likely to be on more lucrative contracts. After all, no point having those expensive stars sitting around!
