Calum McDermott Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Sorry, not guilty. But I do think it funny how much clamour there is for a guy who's done so little in his matches to date and yet there's hardly a whimper of support for a player who's been here years and scored/made so many goals. Okay Gradel's only played in Division One. But that's a lot of leagues higher than Kaebi's been playing most of the time this season and Gradel got a 10 rating in one match. How many players have we had in any position get a 10 rating in the last decade? And a standing ovation from opposition fans as well as his own? Now, of course, people will claim I think he's a superstar. I don't. He's raw as can be. He's temperamental. He blows hot and cold. In a better club he wouldn't be ready. But a more dangerous winger than Kaebi, Newton or Chambers? No contest from all I've seen. Just out of interest I'd love to know how many goals Kaebi has scored in senior football. In fact in football generally. Where's Manwell when you need him? Gradel has played in higher leagues than kaebi in england obviously! But has gradel played in a world cup? You rate gradel so highly than why hasn't he got a chance instead of kaebi? Gradel is 20 most young prospects make there first appearances younger than that! Sterman was 17, A chambers was 15! King was 17, sappleton was 17. So why has he not made a start yet?

Wezleylowski Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Problem, Sheehans older than Gareth Bale. I know. I meant the next to be snapped up by a prem club for being a cut above Bale was the only championship left back to be signed for a prem club tat i can think of and he is a free kick specialist to boot

Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 The thread says Kaebis tarts! I know - I joined this thread thinking it was about a new pastry product on offer at half-time for our delictation I prefer Ask Bare Tits more anagrams here I heard R.E.S.P.E.C.T on the radio earlier today and it occured to me, it's a good thing Aretha wasn't dyslexic, cos she would have ended up with an anti-Bond theme, S.P.E.C.T.R.E

danny. Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 I appreciate I'm a little late for the "serious discussion" bit of this thread (damn having to work) Anyway... Who cares about the reserves, is it really any indication of how a player will do in a first team match? Is it not pointless quoteing "This player did this in the first team, but this player did this in the reserves, therefore player X is beter". Football is a team game. However good a player is, if he is playing in a team with lesser players (as you would expect reserves to be compared to first teamers) obviously they won't do as well.

Get focused on Kaebi's performance in the much more recent Asian Cup cos I can't remember his making any significant contribution at all, or his team doing very well although I'll bow to anything Manwell might dig up on his behalf. Of the people you referred to only one, Chambers, was competing for a vacancy on the right wing and Chambers got the nod simply because he was at the club and Gradel was on loan at Bournemouth. No-one would sensibly choose Chambers as a right winger over Gradel and if you doubt me look at the Academy games in the last two seasons. Chambers' appearances were much limited by knee injuries but when he was fully fit I cannot recall him ever being preferred to Gradel on the right. Perhaps most notable was the play-offs final when Chambers was a substitute as Gradel started on the right and was arguably City's Man of the Match. Chambers was mostly played elsewhere in attack to right wing because the team would never willingly wish to do without Gradel. Or anyone who returned upwards of 16 goals a season consistently playing exclusively out wide.
