BedsFox Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Kaebi is quick and has a great eye for a pass I think he's worth a run on the right side of midfield Looked a bit lost at times, and teamamates weren't on his wavelength a few times, but I was encouraged

Musty Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Have already posted elsewhere but for those interested... ...whilst be no means looking the world-beater that some seem to think he is, he at least showed some promise that if used in the right way could be an asset to this club. Problem was his team-mates didnt seem to trust him enough with the ball, twice in the first half he made great runs down the right only for the player on the ball to ignore him and switch the ball the other way into a congested part of he pitch. He needs to hug the touchline a bit more and play as a winger, his pace could make him an excellent outlet on the break for an early ball over the top of the defence. But his team-mates need to trust him and learn to exploit his abilities. \ Was a bit worried when after the sending off he switched to right back...had Thrac's dire warnings of his liabilities as a right back ringing through my head...but handled it ok and thankfully a switch at half time had him back at right mid. As expected his tackling is enthusiastic and a bit hit and miss, and his slight stature doesnt help him in a physical contest...but clearly has some abilities that most of our players do not, as shown in one surging run through the middle in the second half. So he did ok, lets just hope his confidence grows, his team-mates learn to play with him...and we might just have a player after all. And hurrah to that!

Probably pretty hard for a lad from Iran with poor English (well non-existent a few weeks ago) coming into a club which contains the "Stearz tendency" amongst it's play staff... must be intimidating to say the least!

Agree. But the important thing now for the lad is he's clearly got the support of the manager for the first time since Allen brought him on at Watford. Holloway after the match: “I was also very pleased with my little righty, Hossein Kaebi, who did well. He tells me he is a right-back but he was good on the right wing and I thought he did ever so well.†Ollie's the kind of manager that likes to nurture his players, and i think knowing that someone's looking out for him will make all the difference and help Kaebi to feel wanted and more comfortable with his surroundings and team-mates.

With respect, and I accept you've seen more of him than I, its too early to make this assessment. I thought he did fine last night. Not particularly lightweight, at one point he and Jason De Vos squared up after Kaebi's full blooded challenge on him for example Great pace, nice passing but positionally a bit ragged, and I noticed a few communication problems BUT, enough to keep him in the squad and playing I would have thought. Certainly more attractive to watch than anyone else at right midfield who are all, so far this season, strikers out of position, converted defenders or central midfielders etc. Not forgetting Newton who I think is poor. When we defended corners or attacking free-kicks Kaebi was the player left "up", and I could see him being a real threat on the break esp away from home

Yes Give me Chambers at RB with Kaebi in front over any other combination down the right you can think of currently at the club

Koke Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Glad to hear some good words about the boy. It must have been a living nightmare the past few months. Hopefully Ollie will try out Chambers at RB and Kaebi at RM against Hull and possible Wolves (if things go well).
