Calum McDermott Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Ian Holloway's Leicester City clear-out has started with seven players being ruled surplus to requirements. Five of them - Shaun Newton, Carl Cort, Jimmy Nielsen, Hossein Kaebi and Sergio Hellings - were among the 14 summer arrivals under former City manager Martin Allen. That is a number Holloway always believed to be too high. The other two - Rab Douglas and Alan Maybury - had been placed on the transfer list in the summer. Benfica trialist Marco Ferreira has also returned to the Portuguese club without having featured in anything other than reserve-team football with City. Holloway said of the players: “I feel for them. They need to get on with their lives. “They did not have a future here, and I wish them the best of luck. “I have sent them away from now until the transfer window opens so that they can try to get themselves fixed up with moves or trials at other clubs.†The City manager wants to clear the way, and the wage bill, for new faces he has his eye on - and he has learned he could face competition for one of his prime targets, Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop. The Hungarian keeper is on a season-long loan which was always rated as pending a permanent move. But Sunderland manager Roy Keane is considering recalling Fulop when the transfer window opens because City might not be the only interested party. This surprise move is possible because of a “gentlemen's agreement†when Allen did the deal. Holloway, though, said: “We will not have a gun to our heads but we hope we can sign him. “He likes us and we like him - and he might also like what we are going to do ourselves in the transfer market.†Fulop will take his place in the City side at Wolves this evening behind a line-up which is expected to show few, if any, changes from the side that lost at Hull last week. Teenager Lee Cox has been added to the squad after impressing Holloway with his performances since being “promoted†to the senior group in training. He represents the way forward for the younger element who are bound to benefit from Holloway's initial clearing of the decks. www.thebluearmy.co.uk I Cant believe he has told kaebi to leave Thracian will be happy though! lets watch him go to a better club and suceed!
Matt Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 He said 8 in his BBC column, Perhaps he includes Rab Douglas and Alan Maybury (The transfer listed players) in his list.
Joe. Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 To be honest I'm shocked. After seeing Keabi appear in the last few games (and doing fairly OK if match thread's are anything to go by) I thought maybe he had a future here. Obviously not it seems. If he's that good there'll be no shortage of interest for him, probably abroad I'd guess. On the other hand, sounds promising about Fulop that we're actually going to try and get him on a permanent it seems.
Father Ted Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 That's everything we were moaning about yesterday cleared up just like that. I'm Shocked

I would of thought kaebi will have premiership interest as arsenal, tottenham and wigan had spoke to his agent in the summer.

Father Ted Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 I would of thought kaebi will have premiership interest as arsenal, tottenham and wigan had spoke to his agent in the summer. If Kaebi turns out to be a world star and plays for any top club then Holloway can go F**k himself.
Milans Foxes Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 If Kaebi turns out to be a world star and plays for any top club then Holloway can go F**k himself. Well Kaebi is obviously just a mediocre player who is not big or strong enough for this league. He can't speak english and has obviously not bothered to try and learn and is a misfit in the dressing room. If he was any good, Holloway would have kept him wouldn't he!! He will go back to Iran/Saudi Arabia I would guess.

FoxesFan100 Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 im not sure how much to read into this... but so far this is what has been that Shaun Newton, Carl Cort, Jimmy Nielsen, Hossein Kaebi and Sergio Hellings and Maybury and Douglas can go,, http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?b...6269754|p|536|0
sdb Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 i thought Kaebi could make the grade but i'm sure Ollie knows best. The others are complete shite so that's fine. Anyone know about this Lee Cox? Also read this morning that FUlop's going back to Sunderland to play, not for some sort of auction
Hullfox Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 If Kaebi turns out to be a world star and plays for any top club then Holloway can go F**k himself. He well turn out to be like that in the future but in our team right here, right now he isn't what we need.
Hullfox Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 He knows a little bit of english, i've spoken to him in the club shop. He understands things but dosent know how to speak back. In fairness (footballing issues aside) he has had 6 months in the country, if he can't manage a conversation yet I would assume that he has not seen fit to make efforts to learn the language.
Ozwin Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Lee Cox is Joe Mattocks best mate. They both went to my college and absolute abliterated anyone they played. He was a bit of a tosser though, Joe's a nice chap though. Hopefully he'll do well, but I thought he played centre back...we're sorted in that department surely?
Milky Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 There's a poisonous atmosphere down the training ground at the moment. Training is completely dead aswell. The less said about Taggart and coaching the better.

On the other hand, sounds promising about Fulop that we're actually going to try and get him on a permanent it seems. thats strange because when I watched him at Hull last week he looked very very average infact he looked totally lost, got caught with the ball to many times didn't take players on, kept falling over and looked scared of the ball!! to be honest he looked well out of his depth as I said in another thread though it may be more of Kaebi wants to go as he hasn't settled in this country and struggles with the language than Ollie not wanting him
WetFlannel Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 To be honest, i will be glad to see the back of im as im fed up of the costant debates over him, and how we constantly highlight an average player... its clear his future isnt here, although was given a brief bit of hope by Ollie
Lillehamring Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 In fairness (footballing issues aside) he has had 6 months in the country, if he can't manage a conversation yet I would assume that he has not seen fit to make efforts to learn the language. ouch! speaking as someone who lives in a foreign country (albeit one where everyone speaks english) i think that is a little harsh... in fact, some of the posters on here are dreadful at english, shamefully so. As far as kaebi is concerned, it seems pretty expected to me, a lot of people got over-excited when he came (me included), yet it was soon apparent that he wasn't up to it. people are so desparate for him to be a success (fair enough) as could be seen in the, apparently absurd MOM award he got on here, but obviously he was too lightweight and inconsistent.
FleckneyFox Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Goodbye Kaebi the best player that never played Nah seriously though pretty much what i expected All of them have been shit since coming here, feel a bit sorry for Hellings never got a chance despite supposedly bein decent in the reserves. Lee Cox i saw him at Oadby in pre season and he was best player on the pitch so he might be pretty decent

I'm not in the least bit "happy" but it does confirm what I've said since the first two games I saw him play. I'm not happy to see any player fail. I'm not happy that he wasn't used as a right midfielder from the start of his time here so that maybe, just maybe, he might have developed as an asset. I'm not happy about the idiocy of rushing him into the first team when he clearly wasn't ready for it, for whatever reasons. And I'm not happy about why he was signed in the first place and on whose recommendation. When I saw the YouTube video I was as impressed as everyone else and was greatly looking forward to seeing a class player in our ranks. But watching him when he arrived showed him in a completely different light and I have to wonder whether he was ever properly scouted. It doesn't take long. Within two or three weeks of their arrival it was clear that Ferreira, Djiziri, Kaebi and probably Hellings were never going to make it here. I find it hard to believe that any representative of Leicester City ever concluded that they would IF they watched them properly. That is not to say they were hopeless footballers. Just that they were unsuited to English Championship football at this time. So I am happy that Ollie has recognised what appeared obvious and done something about it quickly. I cannot argue against him on any of the other decisions either. His promotion of Cox is progressive and shows that he clearly recognises a useful footballer when he sees one even if he might remain on the fringes for a time. I might say though that Cox seems to relish the big stage and once he's ready and given his chance I'm not sure he will easily relinquish it.
theathiest Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Nothing bothers me more than the fact that only time that I actually get to watch a LC game , kaebi wont get to play. Very annoying...

I'm trusting that MoM award will be declared null and void. It's virtually admitted that people voted who weren't there.
